Throughout my undergraduate studies, this building has been notorious for no air conditioning, broken chairs, sticky desks, and dirty windows.
As of the Fall 2017 semester, the dark and classical era of studying Math is finally over because there are now air conditioners in every classroom. While this may be a huge sigh of relief for many students, there are a few flaws.
1. These AC units are on energy saver mode and set at 78 degrees which is great for the environment, but the air conditioners will shut off for a while until it starts up again. This can get annoying especially during midterms or important lectures because the windows are closed and the room quickly becomes hot again. It does restart after a certain amount of time, but it still feels very inconsistent. I think it would be better if it was running all the time, but I also understand that electricity bills will be higher if that was the case.
2. The air conditioners are very noisy.
3. Depending on the classroom, only one air conditioner may be working.
Overall, this is a huge step towards modernization for the building, so let us all keep calm and study on. :) read more
