Hilltop Farms is the kind of stop that turns a quick errand into the rest of your morning. The…read moremarket has real local produce and Alabama-raised meat, plus the seasonal stuff you actually want (plants, pumpkins, Amish goods, bakery items from Cothran's) without the big-box feel. Breakfast in the cafe is the move if you can get there early -- simple, fresh, and the people working there treat you like a neighbor instead of a ticket number. Andrew and the rest of the crew are consistently helpful, and I've never left with just the one thing I came for. Easy recommendation if you're anywhere near Argo or Trussville.

The prices are average, the experience is superb!…read more Local nurseries and vendors of fresh produce have been dissappearing from our local country side for years. As a matter of fact, many of the ones left buy their product from walmart because its cheaper (just kidding). I'm all about cheaper vegetables for families who are on a tight budget, but the trip out here is good for the soul. Walk around, get some exercise and fresh air. Check out the plants, produce, baked goods, and ice cream. This is a wonderful place to take kids. Its educational, its fun, its delicious. You may live in the city and have absolutely no time for a garden, but you and your kids deserve that chance to see what a local market looks like. I'm not sure where they source everything, but they definitely grow much of the flowers and plants inside the green houses. You may pay a little extra, but its worth the trip. When you are finished, get some ice cream and sit out on the rocking chairs. You may catch a cool breeze.

Can't live without their pickled eggs (unlike any you've ever had before) and pickled peaches! They carry these amongst many other canned/pickled items. They also have local Alabama honey for a very good price! That's not easy to come by. It's great to find a place that carries fresh local produce too. Their selection of cookies, pies, brownies etc. is darn near irresistible. Everything looks so yummy! Lastly, and the reason for my visit (first of many I'm sure) is their nursery. I didn't count, but they probably have 5 or 6 huge greenhouses filled with large, healthy and vibrant plants. Indoor, outdoor, landscaping plants or herbs and vegetables. Whatever you're looking for, they'll probably have the best looking ones you'll find anywhere! I've been shopping for some hanging plants to adorn my front porch and have checked out the ones at Lowes, Home Depot and Marvins. Those places have nothing on Williams!!! These plants put the competitors to shame. Heads up though, this is NOT IN TRUSSVILLE. In fact, it's well on the other side of Argo! Driving Gadsden Hwy (11) all the way there takes a long time. You would be wise to take I-59 to exit 148.

I had never heard of the place, but I looked it up and I liked what I saw. It's in a super cute building and the inside is so cozy. There were so many options to choose from related to painting pottery. I chose two items and soon after the employees guided us through what we needed to do to make our pieces look great. It really was a good time with my work committee and I'm looking forward to seeing the pieces once they've been processed. I'm hoping we get them before Christmas. I highly suggest you check this place out if you want to do something with a group or some type of team building .
