Keen offer tasty food made on the premises, competitive prices and most of all, an impressive attitude when it comes to customer service.
Like Linzi says, Keen offer a good range of sandwiches, tangines and other hot food. Their coffee and food is among the best in the area - it's obvious that they've really made an effort to stand out from their competitors. Bread is typically stone-baked, and many of the ingredients French in origin (always a positive for this Francophile), like the classic ham and emmental combo and the French butter in their croissants. Their brownies are jaw-droppingly good, in a handily small size and welcome low price (£1).
But my favourite aspect of them is their enterprising spirit and friendly attitude to customers. They go out of their way to get to know you - again, as Linzi says, it's clear they want to be an active, positive part of the Victoria community. Today I even discovered that they very laudably offer a 15-20p discount (approx.) on their coffee for those people bringing their own mug. Surprisingly few cafes offer this, despite the unquestionable financial and environmental benefits for cafe, customer and the world generally, so Keen deserve a lot of credit. They'll also be getting a lot of my custom as a result, even though they're a fair walk from my office. Bravo! read more
