Food: Kitfo- medium raw: flavorful and sharable (for 2) Service: fast, friendly, and efficient. Ambiance: cozy but enough room to fit comfortably. Drinks: Ethiopian wine (sweet) and beer (light) I look forward to coming back and trying something new!!

Hawaii doesn't have Ethiopian food, so I was really excited to try some out here while visiting family. I'm not from WA, but when you've got bars on windows, sometimes you wonder (note that multiple business in this area of Ranier beach is like this). Upon walking in, is a totally different story, so don't judge the book! One is greeted by bright, yellow walls, energizing music, and clean facilities! The owner is also the cook (and when we were in, server and cashier). She was so friendly and helpful, teaching me what to order and how to eat, given it was a first for me. We got the meat and vegetarian combo; the meat had to be cooked since I can't eat raw stuff but it didn't diminish the taste: bright and savory meats surrounded by hearty sauces. Spicy lentils with berbere seasoning that had just enough heat to keep you entertained. The injera was also so fluffy and had enough twang and structure to last the entire meal. For 3 people, we were stuffed and it was about $20 each, which is not bad at all these days. If I'm ever in town, I'll be back here for sure.

This is a cute smaller restaurant with really homey vibes. We haven't eaten Ethiopian food much, but the staff was really patient and explained each dish well. The food was delicious, we especially liked the Key Wot, Gomen Wot, Shiro Wot, and the Gomen Besiga.

In general the area is not the greatest but usually that means the food is . Clean and friendly lady helped us, we have never eaten true Ethiopian/African food so my expectations weren't high. Just due to my own taste buds I Cldnt tell u what the finger food bread was called but it was amazing with the fish and beef tibs we ordered . We were given a side dish of spices or dip , the sweet lady kindly came over and mixed our spices so we wld taste it and eat it properly, the spices separate were good but mixed all together was amazing . The honey wine was delicious! Mothers day afternoon was quiet but i enjoyed the peace Will definitely return

We came in for dinner a few months back, wanting to try a new Ethiopian restaurant. The inside is very bright and clean, and there was one table of ladies drinking coffee in the corner when we walked in. We were served right away. I wanted to try a few meat dishes, so I ordered the meat combo with a couple of vegetarian sides per the waiter's suggestion. Well, the meat dishes were super greasy (see picture), and the cubed beef was tough; flavor is not bad though. Overall, I wasn't impressed by the food (2.5/5 stars), particularly the meat combo. It's also a small store selling things like spices and kitchen accessories.

delicious ethiopian spot! we got the veggie combo plate #1, the meat combo plate, and an order of tibs. this family run restaurant was just what we were looking for. the flavors of everything were delicious and the owner/chef was so sweet to us. she kept checking in and made sure throughout our meal that everything was as we wanted, combined our veggie and meat plates for us, and gave us an extra side of their spicy mustard for dipping. it was overall a great meal and we left very full and satisfied.

We had planned on eating at Sunset Cafe but it was closed. Since we were in the mood for Ethiopian, we decided to try Kebena Ethiopian Restaurant which is just up the road. We were not disappointed. The atmosphere is clean and friendly. All of the vegetarian dishes were delicious, but none stood out. The injera was delicious, though we did have to order extra (for a nominal charge). My wife thought Kebena deserves 5 stars, but I was on the fence and decided on 4-stars since there is not a meat and vegetarian combo on the menu. That said, we will be back to see if I need to adjust my rating : )

This is one of the best Ethiopian restaurants I've ever visited. I took four friends there for an after-hike lunch, none of whom had ever tried Ethiopian food, and we unanimously agreed that it was not only delicious food, but excellent coffee. The injera flatbread was perfectly spongy, and the vegetarian dish portions were very generous. Our server was also very generous with her time, explaining the tradition of Ethiopian coffee service. We will be back!

I went here for the plate of nations. I've never been here before it doesn't look like a restaurant - it looks like a small house or an office. Inside, the decor is bright, clean, and nice. Most of the other customers were Ethiopian. I got the jebena coffee, which also felt very authentic. They also brought it out with some incense. We got the meat platter, which was tasty. Next time I wanna try the veggie combo, which looked beautiful.

And, another $5 for gluten free bread (we never asked for gluten free, and the menu says that bread is included). When we asked about the $10 extra charge that we didn't plan on, they said that they ran out of regular bread and had to give us gluten free. And the $35 instead of $30 was because they have a new menu coming out with the higher price, but "its not yet printed." This is misrepresentation and illegal. They were dishonest. They never told us about the price change in the beginning, when we were ordering. When we wanted them make it right and remove the $10 extra charge, they wouldn't. They just said its now on the "new" menu, which is "not yet printed." A bunch of BS in my opinion. It felt like they knew exactly what they are doing in scamming Americans who come into their restaurant. Be careful! Or just go some places else. There are a lot of other great options in the area.

The combo came with a beautiful spread of veggies--cabbage, greens, split peas, lentils, and beets--along with the beef wat I selected as my meat. Everything was packed with flavor, perfectly spiced, and the portion size was just right. The presentation was thoughtful even through delivery, which is not always the case with takeout. One of the best parts? They offer gluten-free injera! That made the whole experience even better. The price itself was very fair for the amount of food you get, but like most delivery apps, the UberEats fees made the total much higher than expected. Still, the quality and flavor made it worth it. I'd love to visit Adey in person to get the full experience and ambiance when I'm here again! Since I was in town for work and too tired to go out, I specifically looked for a Black-owned restaurant that delivered, and I'm so happy I found Adey. Delicious food, great portions, and care put into every detail--I'll definitely order again next time I'm in Seattle!

The injera here is more mild, less sour, than the other places I visited. My personal preference is for a little more fermentation but I can see this as a less daunting introduction of injera to those who never tried it before. The fish goulash was jaw droppingly good. Huge chunks of fish that's crispy and saucy.

The service was a little slow, but again, it was busy and there were only two people taking orders and serving. With this in mind, our food came out relatively fast. The bathroom area was also a little neglected during this busy rush with none of the sinks having paper towels, so I had to use napkins at the table to dry my hands while waiting for our food. I got an Ethiopian beer, the Zagol combo, and the lamb yebeg tibs. Everything was flavorful and paired well with the injera. The portions were pretty generous. Our meal came with 3 side injera on top of the injera plating all the veggies and meat. Between two people, we had leftovers, but a lot of it is a the injera used for plating. I wish the zagol combo had one more meat option in it, but the addition of the lamb dish was perfect. Definitely try the lamb yebeg tips because it was my favorite out of all, and we got it spicy. There's also a meat combo option on the menu as well if more meat is wanted. The beer is light and paired well with the bold flavors of these dishes. Overall I would come back again. A lot of tables had tea and I would like to try that next time.

Now…read moreonwards to its second generation in the family, Meskel is now in an area that is dotted by many other Ethiopian restaurants. They remind an OG steward in a building that incidentally looks like a family house with an interior decorated with Ethiopian art. With much competition nearby, Meskel was sadly quiet on the day we went. The proprietor was nonetheless enthusiastic with new customers to her restaurant. Per her recommendation, we ordered their popular items listed at the top of their food menu. Side note: They do not offer a meat combo, unlike many other Ethiopian restaurants. The Food: Their injera (spongy bread) is impeccable with a potent sourdough taste. Despite having had many injera in the past, theirs stood out in this regard and is incredibly flavorful as is. Unfortunately, if one doesn't like sourdough bread, this could be problematic. Each entrée includes a full-size piece of injera. BBQ Special, $28.50 - 4.5 Stars Aromatic berbere-infused steak is slow cooked and paired with peppers and onions. This dish is served in a ceramic warmer with a small piece of charcoal underneath. Hubby said he liked this better than the typical meat combo. Vegetable Combination, $25 - 4 Stars The photo's veggie combo included veggies that are served with the BBQ Special, possibly just the salad, not sure. This combo with eight variants is modest compared to other restaurants both in terms of variants and portions of each. I commonly see ten variants in the veggie combo with bigger portions for each. Looking at older posted photos, the original portions are indeed bigger. I'll chalk it off to inflation. While the flavors of each are good, overall, this combo did not compare as well as others I have had.
