Location of Keating Toyota

Recently I purchased a truck from Keating Toyota. I can't say that I walked away feeling like I got a fair deal. If you go in thinking you can get a fair price with the dealer discount and the $3000 rebate, be careful. They basically use that to get people in, but in reality they bump up the cost of the vehicle and say they are offering a $2000, $3000 etc. vehicle discount. Regarding the $3,000 Toyota rebate, that also is deceptive. I went in with a pre-approved loan from my bank, but they try very hard to convince you to go with their financing, this is so they can get a cut of the money from your loan. You can't get this rebate if you use Toyota finance, the sales guy won't tell you this, my sales guy didn't. Negotiate your final drive our price without the rebate if you plan to use Toyota Finance. The Finance office is where you get screwed. They don't explain all the numbers, unless you ask. Even when you ask and they explain, they are not through and the numbers are not straight forward. They don't make it easy. It's like trying to make sense of your telephone bill. If you must buy from here, make sure to ask them to explain all the numbers. If it doesn't make sense, be ready to walk out. There are lots of Toyota dealers in and around the city and beyond.

From 1/17/25 -I called ahead and asked that a sales person be ready and which car I was coming to buy, when I arrived I was met by David within 10 minutes of being there. The dealership was busy on a Friday night. I bought a used Mazda CX-50 suv from David Jackson at this location he was helpful and answered all my questions and got me in and out in a quick time manner upon my request, AL in finance was also awesome and funny . The dealership is very clean and looks brand new, there's a huge waiting area near the service side with comfy chairs with charging plugs at bottom of the chair, and an enclosed small child play room, nice restrooms and a small cafeteria area and a small store in rear of dealership on the left side of showroom floor there's a second seating area with a tv. Right when I went to leave I noticed a part on the window trim had been damaged in the car wash since I test drove it. David spoke to a superior and they ordered the part and it will be installed later. They also gave us gift cards to cafeteria bc it was dinner time and we were just starting to work on a car deal! Everyone at dealership was helpful and nice. 2/19/25-We visited the dealership today for a quick service on my car service side got the car in and out quickly, also my mom looked at a Toyota sienna and Andrew helped her look at the van and then helped me correct a digital feature with my car all the people inside and service are super helpful also and completed what I needed them to handle! This dealership will always hold a special place in my heart my brother passed away 1/24/25 right after being with me at this dealership to buy my car the people at the dealership nor my sales know anything about this but are so sweet when I have had to visit. Thank you for just being amazing every time we've been.

I went to Big Star's website and wrote in with interest about a new Explorer. I also shared the struggles we have been facing. Their team was amazing at getting back with me and empathizing over our struggle. With all the stress I needed an easy transition and couldn't bear a full day in a dealership. That would have just turned the knife. Adrien was super helpful, worked with me on getting above residual value for my car, negotiated rates before I had to come in. We did all our financials online. So by the time we came in all we had to do test drive the car, agree on final financing, and close the deal with finance. We were in and out in 2hrs. This was the best and most seamless car transaction I've ever had in my life! Hands down amazing people. Thank you so much for understanding this stress I was under and making this as easy as possible on us. I am truly grateful!!

I took my truck to Big Star Ford on 288 S. in Pearland yesterday (5/1/2025) morning for my 7:15 AM appointment. My service advisor is Robert. He seems to be a really nice guy with a sales attitude and quick Witte.(I love quick Witte.) Robert said he had one guy there who he wanted to look at my truck because he has worked on them the most and is quite familiar with that motor. I asked Robert to have his mechanic look at the transmission leak that I have and also a blend door issue.(that is a unseen box under the dash that switches the air from the heater core to allow cold air that's from the AC compressor to blow into the cabin.) Robert seen more than happy to accommodate my request and asked if he could have the truck for a couple of days to complete the work that I was requesting and I agree. I went back to Big Star Ford yesterday evening to have them look at a fault that I was reading in my mercury, mariner regarding my SiriusXM radio. I was surprised to see my truck in water appeared to be the checkout line. I got in line to see Robert and he said that he was just about to call me to let me know that the recalls have been fixed. He also told me that I had multiple oil leaks, in addition to my transmission leak. He said all the part numbers are obsolete for the gaskets needed to repair the leaks. He went on to say that it wouldn't be cost-effective for me to have them source the gaskets outside of Ford because they could not guarantee the work. That I understood, so I asked him if I could have the part numbers so that I could source the gaskets elsewhere. This is where the veil drops. Robert told me that the mechanic didn't write the part numbers down and had only done the visual inspection. Is not possible in my mind to determine that a part number is obsolete, without looking it up in the database! Robert then said well, while the person who deals with recalls was working on those items, the repair mechanic came by and "looked the vehicle over and determine that the gaskets needed were obsolete". This was really annoying. I'm pretty sure this was an attempt to extort money. Robert said it wouldn't be fair to the mechanic to have him provide the information that allegedly he had already looked up because it would take him time that he was not getting billed for. Please remember Robert told me that this process was already completed by the mechanic who had determined that the part numbers were obsolete. So Robert said for me to get the " obsolete part numbers for the gaskets that were leaking" I would need to pay a diagnostic fee, which is $235 per hour. I believe this was the ultimate goal. I believe in building relationships on mutual respect and trust. As consumers, we have the option to spend our money where we choose. I tried to find an establishment that I like, that treats me respectfully and values my time while simultaneously providing qualities service or products! Big Star Ford does not fit in that category! On a sidenote, I can't prove this, but they may have cleared the fault and charged Detroit for labor they may not have performed. By the way, remember that satellite radio fault I went back to have them look at? Well that didn't happen either. Robert provided this analogy " what you're asking is like calling a cancer doctor over the phone and asking them to give you a diagnosis based on symptoms". This is a known issue to Ford. I provided Robert the technical bulletin number which she brushed off. Buyer Beware

I met Glenn. the buying manager at Southfork, and what a surprise. Told him what I was trying to do, no interest in a new car, just an offer, and fully expected to be waiting around an hour or more, but that didn't happen. Glen was polite and courteous and professional, took the keys and did his drive and look around and in less than 30 minutes I had an offer that exceeded that of the two previous dealerships I had visited. It was simple and easy and no hassle at all. Many thanks for the courteous and professional help. Next time I am selling a car I am going back to Southfork.

When he picked it up the rear view mirror fell off before he even got out of the parking lot, so he turned around and took it back to them. They kept it overnight and when we went to pick the car up the next day, the front shield was cracked from top to bottom. The service manager, Justin, immediately denied responsibility and said it was a rock chip. We showed him, and had him feel the outside of the windshield so he would see the crack was on the inside of the windshield, not the outside and it was at the EXACT location on the rear view mirror that they had to fix. Even pulled off the outer case of the mount for the rear view mirror to show that the crack is exactly where bracket attaches to the windshield and that's what cracked the glass. Justin was rude and just didn't give a F. He's definitely not someone that should ever work in a position where he has to interact with people. He just kept denying responsibility and refused to repair or pay for the repair. There was no rock chip in the windshield when we dropped the car off with them, and still isn't now because the crack started on the inside, and we had a perfectly intact windshield before they "repaired" the mirror that they broke. Don't buy from them, definitely don't take your car to them for service, and don't give them any of your business. Worst dealership and service center i have ever encountered. Would give the zero stars if that was possible. This is now opened with Stellantis Customer Care (case 95980010) so the incident is formally documented. Also filed a complaint with the TXDMV (case 27-0011770).

The noise changed with RPM, and there were no check engine lights or stored codes. Since I didn't have time to diagnose it myself, I decided to try this shop based on their good Yelp reviews. I went in on Saturday, April 4th. The staff was friendly and greeted me right away. I explained the issue clearly and also mentioned that I had just done an oil change and brought the oil filter with me so they could inspect it for any signs of internal engine damage. Later that day, I received a call saying the noise was coming from the valve train. They asked for approval to remove the driver-side valve cover on Monday for further inspection, and I agreed. On Tuesday, I was told they heard a small noise from cylinder 2 and diagnosed it as a rod bearing issue. I specifically asked about the condition of the oil, and they said it looked fine and that I could continue driving it. When I picked up my truck, I was charged $240 total ($120 for a diagnostic scan and $120 to remove the valve cover). What concerned me was that my oil filter was still untouched in the bag. I went back inside to ask how they checked for metal in the oil without inspecting the filter. They then offered to check it after I brought it up. Once I got home, I decided to do a quick basic check myself. I removed the belts and ran the engine, the noise completely disappeared. That led me to the actual issue: a bad vacuum pump. I replaced it myself, and the noise is now completely gone. Overall, the staff was polite, but the diagnosis I received was incorrect and led me to believe I had a serious internal engine issue when it turned out to be something much simpler. It's frustrating to pay a diagnostic fee that cost more than the actual repair, especially when a basic check could have identified the problem much quicker

Since I do not, the next best thing was finding LA Auto which is Woman owned and Operated to fix my ride! LA Auto was brought to my attention thanks to the Projects feature in the Yelp App. I sent out a request for a job or service and Yelp broadcasted it to businesses to reach out to me concerning the service. I had initially had a different mechanic before LA Auto that was going to do the job, but a price change occurred before the vehicle was in their possession. Decide to nix that mechanic and go back to the drawing board acquiring estimates for the job. By this point, I had already ordered and picked up my parts directly from the dealership so they would match my vehicle. All I needed was the labor to complete the repair. I was really intrigued that there was a Woman owned and operated auto shop in Houston, so I decided to reach back out to the shop about an estimate for labor. My inquiry was Friday afternoon, so I didn't expect to hear back until Monday. Liz, the Owner, however, was in contact with me in and out the entire weekend asking for pictures of the parts to ensure they were correct for the vehicle based on the VIN as well as making sure they didn't need to paint the handles. She gave me a range on the price for the labor, which I could understand because she never saw the vehicle before- only pictures of the damage. We did most of our communication on Monday which offerred a great opportunity for me to get the car fixed that afternoon since she had an opening. I honestly thought I may have to come back another day to get the job completed because EVERY OTHER BODY SHOP I SPOKE TO said I would have to drop the car off just to get an estimate. I did that with one Pearland body shop and received a quote of over a THOUSAND dollars just to fix some handles! They even stated the labor was high because the panels of the car had to be removed. Thanks to Youtube, II knew that was not the case and Liz the owner and my mechanic confirmed my research as she completed the work on the vehicle in less than an hour WITHOUT removing the inside panels. She worked fast and I was even able to see her work from the office which provides a chair or two inside for waiting customers. A/C is blizzard cold inside the waiting area, so bring a jacket. This is not your car dealership waiting room with tvs and refreshments, so bring your own, but Liz worked so fast I didn't need to indulge in either! Really friendly, sincere, and affordable service from Liz at LA Auto. I am so glad to not only have my car repaired (FINALLY, with the exception of one small part that the dealership gave me in error that doesnt affect the main fix) but I am so estatic to support a small business owned and operated by women. I am telling everyone I know about LA Auto if they ever need repairs on their vehicle. This place is a real gem and deserves to shine!
