After finding out our own car was going to cost 11k to repair and only worth 13k we had to make some tough choices. I went to Big Star's website and wrote in with interest about a new Explorer. I also shared the struggles we have been facing. Their team was amazing at getting back with me and empathizing over our struggle. With all the stress I needed an easy transition and couldn't bear a full day in a dealership. That would have just turned the knife. Adrien was super helpful, worked with me on getting above residual value for my car, negotiated rates before I had to come in. We did all our financials online. So by the time we came in all we had to do test drive the car, agree on final financing, and close the deal with finance. We were in and out in 2hrs. I'm not a fan of making negative reviews however in case it's like this, I don't mind! I own a 2000 Ford F350 4 x 4 that had/has to open recalls on it. I took my truck to Big Star Ford on 288 S. in Pearland yesterday (5/1/2025) morning for my 7:15 AM appointment. My service advisor is Robert. He seems to be a really nice guy with a sales attitude and quick Witte.(I love quick Witte.) Robert said he had one guy there who he wanted to look at my truck because he has worked on them the most and is quite familiar with that motor. I asked Robert to have his mechanic look at the transmission leak that I have and also a blend door issue.(that is a unseen box under the dash that switches the air from the heater core to allow cold air that's from the AC compressor to blow into the cabin.) Robert seen more than happy to accommodate my request and asked if he could have the truck for a couple of days to complete the work that I was requesting and I agree. I went back to Big Star Ford yesterday evening to have them look at a fault that I was reading in my mercury, mariner regarding my SiriusXM radio. I was surprised to see my truck in water appeared to be the checkout line. I got in line to see Robert and he said that he was just about to call me to let me know that the recalls have been fixed. He also told me that I had multiple oil leaks, in addition to my transmission leak. He said all the part numbers are obsolete for the gaskets needed to repair the leaks. He went on to say that it wouldn't be cost-effective for me to have them source the gaskets outside of Ford because they could not guarantee the work. That I understood, so I asked him if I could have the part numbers so that I could source the gaskets elsewhere. This is where the veil drops. Robert told me that the mechanic didn't write the part numbers down and had only done the visual inspection. Is not possible in my mind to determine that a part number is obsolete, without looking it up in the database! Robert then said well, while the person who deals with recalls was working on those items, the repair mechanic came by and "looked the vehicle over and determine that the gaskets needed were obsolete". This was really annoying. I'm pretty sure this was an attempt to extort money. Robert said it wouldn't be fair to the mechanic to have him provide the information that allegedly he had already looked up because it would take him time that he was not getting billed for. Please remember Robert told me that this process was already completed by the mechanic who had determined that the part numbers were obsolete. So Robert said for me to get the " obsolete part numbers for the gaskets that were leaking" I would need to pay a diagnostic fee, which is $235 per hour. I believe this was the ultimate goal. I believe in building relationships on mutual respect and trust. As consumers, we have the option to spend our money where we choose. I tried to find an establishment that I like, that treats me respectfully and values my time while simultaneously providing qualities service or products! Big Star Ford does not fit in that category! On a sidenote, I can't prove this, but they may have cleared the fault and charged Detroit for labor they may not have performed. By the way, remember that satellite radio fault I went back to have them look at? Well that didn't happen either. Robert provided this analogy " what you're asking is like calling a cancer doctor over the phone and asking them to give you a diagnosis based on symptoms". This is a known issue to Ford. Beware - Disappointed in Big Star Ford I bought a 2016 Ford Explorer from Big Star Ford and have had multiple mechanical issues ever since. We have put 30k miles on the vehicle over the last 4 years and maintained all general maintenance. Recently, the torque converter failed, meaning I'll have to replace or rebuild the transmission--a significant and costly repair. When I reached out to Big Star Ford's service department for help, I was told, "We're not Ford; we just sell Ford products." They also said it would take weeks to diagnose and months to fix. When I presented documentation from ford showing that torque converter issues are a known problem, leadership dismissed it, saying it didn't apply to my vehicle. And just so you know, I already tried contacting General Manager Tim Jach, but was told there's nothing they could do. This dealership has shown no interest in standing by their products or supporting their customers once the sale is complete. Must be one of the worst experiences of my life. Here is a synopsis: Bought a 2018, F150 from Big Star. Paid about $2K for a larger set of used rims and tires they had at the dealership. They would not allow a trade-in of rims/tires on the truck and refused to give me the rims and tires already on the truck. 01/26/24, discovered water on the floorboard and took truck in for service. 01/29/24, no record of my truck being there. 01/30/24 "Rosemary texted my truck was being serviced. 02/4 and 5/24, went to Big Star, saw my truck parked in the same spot. 02/5/24, I texted "Rosemary" from the dealership while looking at my truck. "Rosemary" texted they were working on my truck. Truck had been parked in the same spot for at least two days. Could not duplicate the leak. Truck returned 02/06/24. A few days later, water on the floorboard again. Returned my truck. "Mark" assisted me and saw the water. Returned 02/12/24 after waiting for a loaner. My truck remained at Big Star until 04/11/24. 04/11/24 I found scratches along the passenger side from the headlight to the taillight. Notified dealership. 04/14/24, discovered water again. Returned truck for service on 05/16/24 and to have scratches removed. Trucked remained there until 11/13/24. On 11/16/2024, I saw the scratches had not been removed and notified "Ian". 11/19/24, water again on the floorboard. Took truck back on or about 12/16/24. "Ian" contacted me 03/28/2025 and explained the exhaustive steps taken to locate the leak, couldn't locate it but were removing the scratches. 03/31/25 went to exchange vehicles. Truck was parked out front. Asked about scratches. "Ian" said my truck was at the body shop. I pointed to my truck outside. "Ian" then said the body shop only removed the scratches from the bumper and it had to go back. My bumper is metal. "Ian" said he had to replace the battery as well. On May 3rd, May 7th, May 14th, May 18th, and May 25th, truck was still parked out front and battery was dead. "Ian" supposedly replaced it a couple of months prior. I'm sure Big Star was frustrated about not being able to find the source of the leak. The untruths and conflicting information were more frustrating to me. Mr. Jach contacted me on or about 06/23/25 after an online review. Srv Mgr "Stephanie" contacted me 06/24/25 saying she would be handling my service. 07/07/25 and 08/01/25, "Stephanie" contacted me with updates. 08/06/25 "Stephanie" contacted me that my car was ready and waiting on the finance person to return to work to provide an estimate for a warranty extension. I did not hear back from anyone until 11/07/25 when "Ian" texted stating my truck was ready. I what was going on for the last 3 months. "Ian" replied my truck had been at the body shop being repaired. I told him "Stephanie" told me my truck was ready on August 6th. "Ian" didn't respond. I texted him again 11/10/25. Again, "Ian" did not reply. However, "Stephanie" later left a voicemail stating "Ian" had given me incorrect information. 11/11/25 I soke with "Stephanine" who said she thought my truck had been returned to me in August. 11/13/25 went to meet Stephanie in the lobby and get my truck. "Ian" was at the front counter and refused to make eye contact or speak. I sat about 5-10 feet away from "Ian" for about 30 minutes while waiting. "Ian" walked back and forth several times within 5 feet of me, refusing to look at me or speak. It was totally disrespectful behavior. "Stephanie" met me and told me in the future she wanted to personally handle my service needs. I appreciate it but don't know how this will work. There is no excuse for the untruths, lack of internal communication, lack of customer communication or the nasty attitude towards me from "Ian". I believe that I was more than patient with Big Star. Scheduled my 2023 F150 oil change for 715am still waiting at 830 on a Saturday! Got a video telling me I should do a coolant flush--it has 20k miles REALLY! Then says I need an alignment without showing me any odd wear--which I look for! Yep needs an air filter and cabin filter but since they ticked me off I will do it myself. My wife and I have bought 6 vehicles from the dealership over the past 18 years but not once have I had a service experience. I have one more service that came with my truck after that I will take it to an oil change facility where it takes 10 minutes to change my oil. We purchased a 2023 Exepdition Max from this dealership at the end of March. When we were test driving the vehicle, a couple of system fault errors went off. When asked about them, we were told that they just received the vehicle in and that the vehicle was in "transportation mode" and that those would be turned off. After discussion, my husband and I agreed to purchase the vehicle...once we purchased the car, they told us we could pick it up tomorrow as they hadn't finished doing the overview of the vehicle. Let me note that my husband had test drove it two days before I went with him to look at it (so the dealership had it for at least a week on the lot...enough time to service the vehicle before advertising the car for sale) So we had to wait and pick the car up the day after we purchased it...upon picking it up the sensor faults we not fixed. We were told that they would order parts and pick up our vehicle and bring us a rental car. (we live an hour and a half from the dealership) After a week of not hearing back, we called to follow up about them fixing the faults. We called our sales rep 3 times, two of the calls went unanswered with voicemails, and once he answered and said he would get an update and call us back. He never did. We were going on two weeks of having the car, so then we called the sales manager...he told us he would check with the service department and call us back. He did call back, but did not give us an answer because the service department "was in a meeting". my husband has since called the sales manager back two more times with no answer or response. We're coming up on a month of owning this vehicle with absolutely no help, response, answers from this dealership. They lied to us about the faults in the beginning and then haven't even followed up to correct the issue. The customer service at this dealership is absolutely horrendous. Please do not consider purchasing a vehicle from here. The other negative reviews that I have read are just like the experience we have received. On 04/15/24, I took my 2020 Ford Eco Sport vehicle by tow truck to the BIG STAR FORD Dealer. Rosemary, the Service Advisor at Ford, received it and texted me that the engine and turbo need to be replaced for an approximate cost of $7,181.62. I reminded her that the vehicle had a recall and that they should cover those expenses.The vehicle was at the Dealer for 4 months and did not give me a Loaner Vehicle. On 06/12/24, I was informed that the recall was over and that they would cover the repair. On 08/14/24, I was informed that the vehicle was ready and that I could pick it up. On 08/18/24, I took the car on Sunday and left it at the Dealer which is closed. The vehicle did not accelerate and the dashboard lights came on. On 08/19/24, Mrs. Rosemary told me that the fault was the transmission and that they were going to check the vehicle. On 08/23/24, Mrs. Rosemary informed me that the technician checked the vehicle and said that the spark plugs (3) and coils needed to be changed for a cost of $834.98. I removed the vehicle because I considered it an excessive cost and that this was not the reason for the fault.On 08/26/24, I took the vehicle with the most serious fault again. I asked another technician to check the vehicle.The other technician informed me that the fault was due to the throttle control body or the accelerator sensor. I again removed the vehicle and took it to the Gulf Coast Dealer in Angleton. Where they determined that the fault was a pin adjustment in Pin 31 of connector 1232E, And the fault that the vehicle had completely disappeared.Mrs. Rosemary used offensive terms towards me such as "I don't know what you did to the car because it worked fine when it rolled out of here." The Mechanical Technicians of FOR BIG STAR could not find the real fault of the vehicle, suggesting changing parts that were not the real fault of the vehicle, implying an unnecessary outlay of money. So just for giggles I saw a 2019 Mustang in an ad for Big Star Ford and clicked on it to see what they would give me for my car. The quote they sent back wasn't even worth my time so I forgot about it. A couple of days later, Brandon reached out saying he could get me in the Mustang if I really wanted. I had a Mustang in the 80s that I wrecked and always wanted another one so told him sure no problem but had specific conditions on the payment and truthfully didn't think he could do it. I only rate a one star because my F150 Lightning is a great truck (thanks to Ford not Big Star). Main and major compliant with Big Star - they install PLAID GPS tracker to prevent vehicle theft on their lot but then pass on tracker as an add-on during customer purchase. My experience - I was told this feature was part of the deal and included in my new truck purchase with my understanding it was not an add-on. Wrong - they tack $1495 onto your contract after misrepresenting the deal. You - as the buyer - need to catch the slight of hand as you go through a dozen or more signatures with the Finance guy who also neglects to inform you about the add-on. I missed it not reading fine print that said once you sign, you cannot back out. So, buyer beware! You do not need to purchase this add-on no matter what they tell you. It's a dealer added cream puff to pad their profits and was definitely/intentionally mis-represented to me which I believe is a violation of the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Law. We'll see how that is decided in an upcoming law suit but long term, I will do my best to warn potential customers of the latest "dealer scam". Just a note - Big Star Manvel is part of the Ken Garff dealership family with 73 locations around the country. Reddit reviewers are running into this same scam at other Garff locations in different states. So, repeat - you do not have to purchase the GPS tracker. In fact, you can get same deal much cheaper on your own hook if you really want this feature. If you buy at Garff dealership - DO NOT let Finance guy use desk top light board to have you add electronic signatures. This is another scam where you do not have control over reading the docs. In my case, the Finance person quickly scrolled over the payment portion of docs so I did not have time to see/read what I was signing. I trusted him and my sales person (big mistake) thinking it was a nice gesture to speed up the process. If I had been given hard-copy paper versions of contracts I would have spotted the "deception" and not been duped out of $1800 total. Trying to make a long story short... I was out of town, and my husband had dropped my car off here to fix a pretty simple electrical problem with the sound in my car. He was dealing with a woman named Michael. Every time he called for an update, she would give him the runaround and basically lie to him about the status of the car... She actually said that he could text her through a certain number for updates, but whenever he did that he would get no response... In fact, the last call he had made to her she had admitted that she got all these text messages and she just didn't reply to them BUT that our car was next to be serviced. Horrible service and horrible agent. When I heard all of this, I had asked my family what's going on with this place? My parents proceeded to remind me that that was the place that TOOK MY DAD'S TRUCK FOR A JOYRIDE AND ACTUALLY DAMAGED ONE OF HIS AXLES! He knew this based on his mileage, and clearly his axle was damaged. Had to take it to somewhere else to get fixed. At this news, I had had it, and I went in in person to demand my car back. When I went in, this, Michael lady was nowhere to be found, and when the staff did find her, she was extremely unfriendly. I told her that we are taking our car back and going to take our business elsewhere because of their incompetence. Don't bother wasting your time with the website chat function. It isn't meant to help you at all, rather simply to create sales leads by documenting your information. Scenario goes something like this. Customer asks the question. For example, part inventory and price. Amazingly the chat 'person' Alexis cannot get this information but will happily take your information, name, phone, email, make/model and someone will call you back. Punchline is, the part inquiry was for spark plugs for a 2 year old F150. The #1 selling vehicle in the US. They will have spark plugs in stock. Took my Ford Fusion here for an acceleration issue. My car stutters / hesitates when I accelerate. (the front desk representative) told me the technician said the issue was arising from multiple factors: 1) Spark Plugs 2) Boots 3) Fuel System Cleaning 4) Power Control Module 5) Engine Air Filter. Supposedly , If i agreed to fix these problems, my car would not continue to stutter / hesitate when I accelerate. That's what was agreed through their texting platform. I agreed to pay the $1,691.43. This was "supposed to fix my car". It was out of my budget, but I trusted him. I drove my car out of the service department BUT the issue never got fixed. I drove the car for a couple of days and noticed that I was still having the same problem. I came back in person to see if they could help me out with this dilemma. I didn't to pay to fix "error codes"; I paid to fix' the acceleration problem. They "misdiagnosed" the issue at hand. On this second visit, the same technician test drove my car while I was in the passenger seat. He suggested that the problem seems to be a transmission issue. He explained to me that he believes it's a tourque converter issue. He seemed knowledgeable & said that this would have to be handled in the "transmission department". I'm confused why I paid $1,691.43 to fix my car, if the issues was never fixed. I took my vehicle here hoping they could figure out the root of the problem. My car still isn't accelerating properly. It just feels like I got scammed, don't know how else to describe this. I spoke to the service department manager, to see if he discount or credit me on the invoice. Anything would have been appreciated, since that's not what I PAID for. He said there is nothing he can do, since those were "error codes that needed to be fixed" . . even though my car is currently not running properly? The manager did say he can give me 15% off if I decide to do additonal transmission work at this location? This of course would be an additional fee, which defeats the purpose of me paying the initial payment. The payment was supposed to fix the issue, it wasn't supposed to make me sign up for additional work? I think they got it wrong. I was super respectful and cordial but that didn't help me. There is nothing they can do. I'm not going to get my money or credit back, I've accepted that reality. I'm just making this post to help somebody in the future. Take your car to a mechanic you trust, someone who will hold their end of the deal. I just wanted some accountability but i'll just have to learn my lesson. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. DO NOT GO HERE! I bought a 2015 ford mustang from here back on February 19. Since then I've had it for a total of 3 days and the car was in the shop for 6 straight weeks. I was told the car was getting all new spark plugs and coil packs and I still had a check engine light on for a cylinder 8 misfire. They couldn't find the part so I took it off the lot today and took it to another shop and they already found it was a broken intake manifold. The shop is already putting in the new one in less than a couple of hours while this place made me wait 6 weeks just to tell me they CANT fix it after Blair (used car manager) told me he would fix it no matter what over and over again. Also told me "we would never sell you a broken car." The mechanic, who worked for ford for 30 years said, the coil packs haven't been changed since the car was made. read more

Been dealing with this place since they opened. Dropped my 2016 MKZ off with what was supposed to have been a recall. I picked my car up a week later and for the second time they drove it up on a curve and damaged it for the SECOND time. Once I made it home, I realized my two front windows was scratched. I called them over the next two days and they kept hanging up on me. I went to the dealership and spoke with Stephanie, the manage, she tried to deny the damages happened not knowing that one of their staff in the service department already saw the damages on the bumper the same day I picked up my car. I took it back for the window damage and once again, Stephanie tried to deny the damages. Stephanie called the shop manager out and he acknowledged that the two front glass windows were damaged during the recall repairs that were performed in their shop. I took it back and they tinted the windows again but did not replace the two front glasses that were damaged. Now, here it is April and I'm still waiting to have my vehicle fully repaired from the damages that were done by their technicians during the recall repairs. I wouldn't recommend this place, but if you go I suggest you check your vehicle thoroughly when you retrieve from this place. read more

I have had a good experience at this dealership. The staff is really friendly and helpful. The accessory department helped me to use my reward points to get free accessory items for my new car. The quick Lane service department has extremely friendly associates who keep me up-to-date with my service schedule. And my salesman was especially helpful when I drove off the lot and got a crack in the windshield. He helped me to repair the windshield there at the dealership. This was the most positive experience I've ever had in buying a car. read more

Worst service experience to date. Very difficult getting anyone on the phone for an update, text messages were very vague on time that it would take to complete service. Days without any updates. BSF had my vehicle for over a month and it hadn't been touched. Will never conduct business with them again , wasted so much time. It was a business vehicle so finally couldn't do without it and had to pick it up. This is a fleet vehicle so PO was ready to be paid all they had to do was conduct the service. They made it clear; too busy for my business. Just wish they were honest from the get go so I could take it somewhere else. Purchased my Raptor here also and was in the market for an upgrade; taking my business elsewhere. This place has gone downhill. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. read more
