Returned at 1 pm and was seen by Kayla. She was friendly and professional as was other stylist/barber present (Orange hair, sorry didn't get name). Hate getting a cut by anyone but my normal person, BUT Kayla did an awesome job and cut it perfectly. Would absolutely go back to this location. Have a feeling that whomever cuts your hair, you won't be disappointed! Mahalo!!

Watching Devin reminded me of an artist finishing up a painting. Circling around, knowing different lighting would reveal missed spots, Devin would swoop in and touch up all around the beard and head. I thought what pride in perfecting his work. If you take pride in your appearance, particularly your hair, you want someone who shares those values. It's easy to book an appointment with Devin. I usually park at Sam Sato's and just walk upstairs.

I was desperate for a haircut as I have resorted to cutting my own hair in these dark times for the last year. Yelp was skimpy in reviews for good barbershops which dampened my morale for my search. I did a bit of shopping and a young man working at a Volcom store had one of the freshest looking mid fades with neat scissor cut on top I had ever seen. I pressed this man for a clue. Anything to rejuvenate my search for a lead.. He not only supplied a name, but he also gave me an Instagram account to follow! This was key in solidifying the booking of my appointment: Kauai Paa @styledby_paa Nestled at the top of a staircase, The Empire Maui, is a clean barbershop with a brotherly, island vibe. Kauai is highly personable and asks all the necessary questions to give your best preferred look while paying very close attention to detail. He took his time and he clearly wanted to get my cut right. I left the shop feeling like a million bucks. I highly recommend getting a haircut here.

I decided to try this barbershop after reading the great reviews online, but unfortunately, my…read moreexperience didn't match the hype. The haircut was just OKAY- not terrible , but definitely not good either. My 2-year-old's haircut, however, was disappointing. I was surprised at how uneven it looked, so I politely asked if she could clean up and fade a few areas. Even after that, I still had to point out several noticeable spots needing fixing- things I would've expected a professional to catch right away. To be fair, the staff were very friendly and welcoming, but it seems they may be more experienced with women's cuts than young boys' haircuts. I paid $20 for something that looked like what I could've done at home. Friendly service, but unfortunately, not the quality of haircut I was hoping for. First and last visit for us.
