Dec 23, 2025 I contacted Wayne's Mobile Auto Repair to have the drivers door electric window…read morerepaired on my 2013 Chrysler Town & Country Van. I had removed the door panel and the glass would not go up or down. After talking about it he said his hourly rate was $75 per hour. I said that's fine, get back to me when you can do it. Dec 30, 2025 Wayne got back to me and asked if I still wanted the work done. Yes, I did. He arrived at 2:30pm. When he arrived he said he charges a flat $200 to replace a window regulator, different that the hourly rate he told me on the phone. I still agreed. I had the van inside my garage out of the weather for him ready to go. By 3:10pm he was leaving after he broke the new parts cable assembly requiring me to pack and return the broken regulator and order a 2nd replacement part. I paid him $100 Cash and asked for a receipt, he said he didn't have his receipt book and wrote out a receipt (photo). He agreed to return when I received the new part. Jan. 3, 2026 After contacting Wayne he came back out and arrived at 12:35pm. to complete the repair. After working on the window for abut an hour he came in and explained he had broken the clip that holds the window into the regulator. His solution was to use "JB Weld" to repair the broken clip. So he left and return about 20min later. I explained JB Weld was not likely to hold to the plastic part. I paid him an extra $10 for the JB Weld. He used it and I let it set for 3 days before trying the window. As soon as I moved the window I could hear the clip simply fall off. This meant the part would have to be returned for the 3rd replacement. So I ordered another window regulator although the broken one was still in the door. This is where I made the mistake of paying him another $100 based on his assurance he would return and fix the window when I received the part. So now I've paid him $210 cash, that included the $10 for the JB Weld. Jan 8, 2026 I contacted Wayne letting him know I had the 3rd new replacement part. He said he was busy but could come out Monday Jan 12th. He then said he wanted another $100 to complete the work. After discussion we agreed upon $50 considering my Van was now sitting since Dec 23, when our original conversation began. I also had to return and order new parts an inconvenience. He blamed the broken clip on the manufacturer. Jan 12, 2026 I was expecting to hear from Wayne to complete the work for the agreed upon cost of an additional $50. At 12pm I texted Wayne and he never replied or opened the text. I figured he had forgotten me or something else had happened. Jan 13, 2026 I texted Way at 9:15am asking if he was going to make it out. He never replied or opened the text. At 1:45pm I called Wayne on the phone and he did not answer. I left a polite voice mail asking is he was coming out to finish the repair or did I need to find someone to complete the job. Jan 15th. I never did hear back from Wayne, he simply ghosted me. I took Wayne at his word as he kept assuring me all along he would get the window fixed and I took him at his word. He said he was 23yr old and had been doing repairs for about 3yr. Again I trusted his word. Summary - Jan 15, 2025 - I removed the door panel and found loose screws, missing panel studs. I removed the window regulator from the bottom myself so it could be returned. I replaced the new part myself in about an hour. What I learned. Don't hire a boy expecting him to handle business like a man and just step up and say he's done and he's not coming back, which he failed to do. Don't pay for the completion of any job in cash before it's done and working. Turns out the smiling assurances he gave me were false, he didn't complete the work after we agreed I would pay him more and then worst of all he wasted my time by not being a man and just saying he wasn't coming back. I'm 68yr old retired from the business world and a man's word is his worth. He will learn this over time. I can not recommend Wayne's Mobile Auto Repair based on my detailed experience above. I knew I could have done the repair myself but due to an upcoming shoulder surgery I chose to farm out the repair that cost me 2 weeks time and $210.00 cash.
