This is my second time going to La Doña nail bar salon. I love how clean it is, how very attentive the whole staff is. Today I learned that it's a family-owned establishment. I use Hannah for my for my services: manicure, pedicure,waxing of eyebrows, chin, and lips. She does a fantastic job she is so great. The first time I had the Jelly pedicure. They put gelatin into the water and it disperses and it's like gelatin soft silky everywhere on your legs. That's followed by your they wrap your calves in a warm towel and then followed by heated stones on your legs. I have the manicure that I had was the dip powder and it was awesome. The massage chairs are the best so great they really relax many ways. There are many choices of which to choose from color wise. I've been going to La Doña for the past year and refused to go anywhere else. I'm in the military so it's hard to find salons that do good natural nails. They have never let me down! I go with a dip set using the N5 color. I have gotten to know every employee at the salon and they are all great people. I've been here twice in the last month. The first time my legs were almost raw from the rough and long pedicure leg massage. Thought I'd give a manicure a try this time and my polish is practically see-through and I had to request a third coat or I would've gotten two. Polish does not come close to my cuticles or the sides of my nail. Cut my cuticles even though I had already pushed them back and asked to avoid that because it's painful and unnecessary. Manicurist did not speak much English and could not understand my requests. Very overpriced and disappointed with what I got. They reached out after my bad review and wanted to repolish them. I'm not soaking off gel when my fingertips are cracked from the manicure to have them fix something that anyone could see was subpar. My daughter had them remove her acrylic nails. I was completely satisfied with my entire visit. I was greeted by the same person I spoke to on the phone with which was nice. They are one of the few nail salons even open on Monday's so that's an even bigger plus. The interior is sooo well put together...it feels like a very high end spa. Drinks available...water...wine...juice and champagne. I paid for a medi-pedi and got gel on my finger AND toes..I NEVER get my feet done and my feet constantly take a beating so the gel toe was soo necessary. There was a male and a female staff...the mice young lady did my nails then they switched for my feet. The pedicure was sooo good. Finally found a place I can trust with my nails. I have lived in Columbia for a while now but have lived in Los Angeles, Ca and Dallas, Texas. I always try and get my nails done in Los Angeles before I come back to SC to see my family. It is very hard to find a nail place that is consistent. The prices around this area is usually very expensive sometimes in Columbia you would spend for a gel manicure $35 to $55 and for a gel pedi from $45 to $65. This place their prices are just what I expected very reasonable! The quality too is great they have new polishes and awesome colors to choose from. The service is superb they make you feel so welcomed and feel like family. Everyone that gets their nails done there are super friendly and sweet. Everybody is talking to everyone I will like places with this type of vibe. I give their customer service an A+++. Interior here is so clean and modern we definitely need a place in Columbia that is up to date with the latest trends. They do have plenty of parking here it is a lot which is nice. Please Please make an appointment Walk-ins are welcomed but since they are new its best to make an appointment. The staff is all very experienced in nails. I had high hopes for this place but was unfortunately let down :/ drove out an extra 15 min away and paid higher prices but I didn't care and was looking for a new permanent salon to get my nails done after moving here from Florida. I had an appointment for acrylic full set. Showed up and waited. After waiting about 10 minutes or so, a regular walked in that they all recognized and was immediately sat down before me. I asked when I would be helped and was told right after she would get the regular started. This definitely didn't seem fair. The girl might have been annoyed that I spoke up because when she started doing my nails she literally GLOBBED chunks of acrylic on my nails. I've been getting acrylic for over a decade now, so I knew this would hurt like a bitch to be drilled down. After getting burned with the drill and the shape all messed up, she said something in another language to a guy, Khoi, and he took over. Khoi was super nice and happily fixed my nails how I liked them. He made sure I was happy with them when I walked out and went above and beyond. When I wanted to make an appointment a couple of weeks later, they told me Khoi doesn't do acrylic, which is unfortunate. If it weren't for Khoi I would give this place 1 star. My manicure was by a man named kori. He was so charismatic, patient, and spoke perfect English which made the salon experience perfect. In regards to Covid policies. Masks are not required, semi social distancing implemented, there are plastic shields in between tech and client, seats were not sanitized between services from what I observed. Facility is aesthetically pleasing. Beverages are offered with pedicure; I opted for red wine which ended up having 2 bugs in it. Pedicure experience was standard. Except towards the end, my tech put the regular colors I chose back and picked her own gel color for me to apply. Idk where the confusion was but I ended up having to say something. Nails service experience was so horrible I felt like the complaining customer all the way through because I had to keep explaining to her what I wanted. Her attitude was very uncomfortable and made me feel like I was inconveniencing her. So much so that she scratched her head and took a deep breath after asking her if I can take a sip of my water. From the beginning I showed two different people the color I wanted including my tech and they told me they had it. Once time came to apply, the tech chose her own color to put on my nails. I've had to correct her so many times at this point the color wasn't horrible so I didn't say anything. What added to my frustration was she asked me if the color was OK after she applied it to one hand already and halfway through the other. Are you serious?!?! This shows me she was being lazy and threw her own color on it. I ended up telling her that's not the color but its too late now. I showed her the pic again and she said if I wanted that color it would be a whole different service and she would have to do my nails all over again. She offered to re do them but she said it in such a discouraging way I declined the offer since my experience was not good. Of course I don't want to be in the chair with you for a whole other service. After she learns how truly unhappy I was. She decided not to go back and forth with me anymore and went to the back yelling about me to her management. The whole front heard her. It was so uncomfortable. At checkout I was not offered a discount so I asked for one. Only $5 . They should've taken off the whole service considering my whole experience with her was unpleasant, unprofessional, uncomfortable, not at all what I wanted, and overall worst experience I've ever had. When you leave a nail place you're supposed to feel more confidant than when you came in. I was so embarrassed of my nails. The girl next to me even gave me the "oh my" face. My nails were super thick, not the color I wanted, and it looked like my nails were already grown out a week. In addition, placement was horrible. After leaving and calming down, I tried to call and give them another chance to work it out by telling them I would like to take them up on the redo offer another time but they said they would just discount it. She also kept arguing with me about the tech side but I wasn't having it. She was rude. I was unhappy how their customer service was handled. They care more about the money than your service. By the way they are way overpriced. Paid $90 it was horrible. Although a little bit of hope, if you decide to try this place out is that there was one other client in there that seemed to be a regular and very happy with their service but it was with a different tech. Unfortunately my experience wasn't that and I will not be returning. I ended up going to another place to get it fixed because they said they wouldn't have to start over and it came out flawless. Today was my first time at La Dona Nail Bar and I would not be going back. The customer service was nice and friendly but my fill in with acrylic nails was not good at all. The set just seemed rushed , I got gel polish and it was sticky after several times being under the light which has never happened to me before , there were multiple mistakes with the coating and shaping. I also received a pedicure and it seemed like the guy was just ready to finish and go home, he was rough , the water was boiling hot and when I mentioned it was hot he continued to run hot water in the bowl, filed my nails extremely too low and cut them going different directions when I asked for square. My best friend that attend it with me had to pay for her services which was $38 even though she only got just a pedicure w/o no color and no full treatment. I enjoyed my visit to La Dona. Currently in the market looking for that one nail place I can call home since moving to the northeast. They did an excellent job customer service, my pedicure and the location was prestigious. I tried a jelly pedicure which was recommended by staff since I've never had one. Awesome! The decor inside is glam and I was offered a drink from the bar. The chairs are beautiful throne style, I do miss the massage from a massage chair. I even got my eyebrows waxed extremely satisfied with the outcome. The wax center has its own room. I wish that La Dona had a private VIP section with those custom massage chairs.
