This review is not as much about the lake, but more about the conservation and education area near…read moreit. It's mostly about the Hidden Springs walking trail, but also includes the nearby park, frisbee golf course, butterfly garden and kids playground. The Hidden Springs walking trail was the main reason for our visit. Its entrance is a short walk from the conversation office. There are a couple of different routes, of various length (a few follow the lake's boundary.) We chose the shorter loop, which was close to a mile in length. What this loop lacked in length, it made up for in elevation changes. The trail is on the side of a hill next to the lake and winds its way up and down that hill. It's a fun hike, though, I recommend pacing yourself and taking time to enjoy the scenery because the walking can catch up with you. There are a few scenic overlook spots and some resting areas if you need them. I recommend watching the time and weather when you walk this trail. Obviously rain, snow and ice are no fun, however I also would recommend not hiking during the middle of the hottest days of summer. The trail is quite shaded, however the humidity and heat will still sneak up on you. I decide to hike anyway, please consider bringing some water with you and stopping at some of the rest areas. Of note, there is a cool little park area between the conservation building and the trail entrance. This park includes a small structure with some picnic tables, green space, a butterfly garden, a small frisbee golf course and a kids play area. Educational signs are posted explaining the native flowers and grasses that are growing. More signs describe some of the local wildlife that you might see while you're in the area. It's a cool place for an educational visit, a picnic or even a birthday celebration.

They called today and wanted to setup our agreement just in time for me to pay through the winter. The guy was a jerk and rude when I asked, knowing it was non-refundable, for a refund. I think a reasonable company would say, we didn't hold up our end of the deal. We will give you a refund on your deposit. Instead I got excuses about the extenuating circumstances, covid, a drowning, etc. Covid wasn't new this winter, so that isn't a good excuse and what a horrible person to use a tragic drowning as crutch to get around his side of the deal. By the "letter of the law" they did nothing wrong but it sure reveals their character. So, he wants me to consider extenuating circumstances, but he doesn't want to grant the same to the people that expected to use the lake this summer. This review won't hurt them as the waiting list was very long to get in the slips but I hope it at least alerts people to the type of people they are working with.

It was a fair charge, and for 2 adults and a child, it was $25 dollars for a little over an hours. My daughter was also excited to get a very large cup of cookies and cream ice cream for $2 bucks. It's an all around friendly relaxing environment and a nice way to spend an afternoon with family. Btw, if going, non motorized boats are first come first serve.. no reservations accepted in advance! Have fun and enjoy the blue herons,deer, vultures and any other wildlife along Lake Jacomo!

The paved trail is clearly marked with signs to help one find bathrooms, marina, disc golf, etc. They have spaces for kids and families at the Beaver Shelt, as well as a music park section near the Eagle Landing Building. There are at least two car charging stations at the marina. There may be more around the park itself, but I did not happen to come across any.

This is a nice little lake just outside of Paola. I would probably call it more of a recreational…read morelake because of the lack of trees and a lot of large open areas. There is a boat dock, a swimming area, camping sites, shelters, and playgrounds. Fishing is allowed and based on some of the splashes I heard as I waited for fireworks, there appears to be some decent fish in the lake. Lake Miola is also the location of the annual 4th of July fireworks show for the city. The city puts on a decent display with both air and ground fireworks although it could improve by shooting the fireworks in a larger area instead of all at the same location (various heights) in the sky. Also this is more a Paola thing, or honestly a thing you encounter everywhere, but last nights experience was impacted by a jerk officer. Now before I become the top candidate on a list to pull over for no reasons, I am a huge supporter of our police forces. They do a job that many would not do and should be respected. There are bad ones, but the majority are the type of heroes our children should look up to! With that being said, just because you have an attitude or John Wayne syndrome or what ever, don't be a killjoy. One officer was harassing people about where they were parking, even though there were not any no parking signs and other officers were allowing people to park in these areas.

Wasn't special by any means but it was clean, well taken care of, and had a friendly staff. It was exactly what you'd want out of a lake marina. The ship store had what you needed and made some pretty good pizzas. However, the couple that took over ownership have decided to turn it into a destination and boy howdy have they done a great job. The whole atmosphere has become electric. Yes, it still is VERY well maintained but the changes they've made have been fantastic. The expansion on the back side, is amazing. First Fridays are killer, the ship store is awesome and the pizzas are still off the hook delicious. I hope, as do the new owners, this place turns into the epic getaway that it can be. They're making all the right moves to turn Clinton Marina into a little paradise just outside Lawrence. My only concern is parking. On busy holidays, beware, parking can get a little tough and require a bit of a walk. Outside of the parking lot issue, Clinton Marina is a great little Oasis smack dab in the middle of the prairie.

When I brought the boat in Linda had a mechanic come out and show me how to start the engine and even took the time to check the oil in the lower unit. Another boat shop might have said to park the boat in the lot and come back in a few weeks, but Linda and her mechanic went out of their way to get me and my boat back in the water.
