Located on the lobby level of the Kansas City Airport Marriott, these guys don't know how good they are, nor how much better they could be. While the hotel leaves much to be desired, KC Tap & Table their captive kitchen actually has something going on. They have a legit mixologist on duty at the right time, and a curated menu that hits most of the right notes. With a glass rear wall overlooking Berlin Reservoir, outdoor seating and room for breakfast, the space is comfortable and spare enough for private conversation. Service is also light, so there is a wait between seating, ordering and delivery. Despite that, what you see on the interesting menu is worth the time invested. I had their Ultimate Grilled Cheese Sandwich with Sweet Potato Fries. It may have been the best grilled cheese I had ever eaten in a restaurant (my homemade version is still my favorite). This baby is actually an inverted griller. The cheese is melted on the outside of the multigrain, with delicious sautéed onion bits and spices within. Each bite was a crisp cleave with lovely crunch from first to last. The fries were also crisp and tasty. Looking around the bar where I was stationed, the other folks also had good looking plates to consume. Everyone seemed relaxed and satisfied. Conversation was likewise friendly and interesting. I ended up getting to the hotel around 10 pm so i really wasn't in the mood to search for anything and just went to the restaurant to grab some food to take to my room. I ended up ordering the pork chop with Brussell sprouts which also included some mashed potatoes. With tax and tip it came out to about $30. I found the portion size of the lion chop to be pretty good, it was about 1 inch thick. I found the cook on the chop to be decent but probably a little overdone as i wasnt able to cut through it with the plastic utensils so i just went cave man style and ate it with my hands. The sides were fine as well and overall i found to be the overall entree size to be decent and filling. read more

I was stuck with canceled flights due to the horrible inclement weather management at MCI airport, so I had to come here to spend an extra night. I stopped into this restaurant, in the lobby of the Kansas City Airport Marriott and they were moderately busy. There was a young guy and an older lady working as servers when I went. He seemed to be going through training as he wasn't carrying food properly, thus making messes and dropping things. He also didn't know the menu and he really didn't have the tact and knowledge to talk with customers as a server, representing the restaurant. For instance, I asked what salad dressings they had and he was all over the place trying to think and describe what they had. I ordered a cobb salad and he walked away, only to return a few minutes later and ask what salmon I wanted on my salad. I was confused, I told him I ordered a cobb salad and it comes with chicken. He asked about the salmon again and the other server, the older lady heard this and said something stern to him in Spanish and he walked away. Later when he brought my food, he spilled one of the two ramakins of dressing and was making a trail on the floor of ranch dressing, bad enough that the guests at the table next to me commented about the mess he was making. He really doesn't need to be there untrained like this, so please put him through proper training and then allow him to be a server. As for the salad, it was pretty good and definitely made with fresh ingredients. So, later I came back for a drink before running out for dinner and I sat at the bar. This time there was a different guy working as bartender. They were pretty busy and this guy seemed to ignore that I was there. A few minutes went by and he asked what I wanted and I asked for a wine by-the-glass menu, so he gave me one. I quickly found something and he was standing in front of me and I asked him for the specific glass of wine I wanted. He didn't hear me, walked way and took care of someone else. Another guest told him they wanted refills and once he was ready, he went and helped them. This went on for 10 more mins, he continued to forget that I was there. I ended up getting up and leaving. I found this level of service completely APPALING! This restaurant is very horribly managed and NEEDS TO BE FIXED! I blame management for these terribly trained servers more than I blame the server. read more

This spot is under the radar!! I only sat down because I was staying at the Marriott. The kitchen is open till 1am, and the modern set up gives it "we're not in Kansas, anymore" feel. Becky the server gave me her advice, and went with the beef rib and mashed potatoes. My meal was all that!! The rib and potatoes were smothered in a gravy, and it all came together into the perfect bite. The rib was cooked to perfection, no knife needed. The mashed potatoes were buttery and tasty. Was not a fan. Let me first extend some grace. It was only 2 people working the lunch hour. One of them just started. She is the reason for the additional star. She was working the bar..... answering the phones... was sweet and apologetic...... many times. The other was busy but overlooked me to take orders from people that was there 15 minutes after I arrived. I waited 30 minutes for a box but my food came up fast. The food: wasn't good. I ordered the rueben..... fries.... and crispy Brussel sprouts. All tasted like they were all from frozen products..... had the same freezer burn taste. All three of them. The place itself was good for groups and had a nice outside area that they weren't serving in because of the of the lack of staff. I wouldn't try anything there again. Stayed at the KC airport Marriott. I didn't step foot into the restaurant and was charged a fee to my room for the restaurant. They obviously do not check ID prior to charging to the rooms. Today, I stopped in at Kansas City (Missouri NOT KANSAS hah!). The temperature outside in the single digits, so I gave KC Tap + Table in the MCI Airport Marriot a shot. The menu isn't vast, but has enough to pick from. I went with the BBQ half chicken. You can pick one side such as mashed potatoes, baked potato, grilled asparagus, etc. I got sautéed garlic mushrooms. The mushroom were really good! The garlic was abundant but overpowering. The chicken was good, but slightly overdone making some pieces were tough. I get they probably went for crispy skin, but over did the whole chicken slightly. As for taste, it was very good. The chicken has a rub on it that taste good in its own and the chicken has a strong smoke flavor. I really enjoyed it. The red bbq sauce it comes with on the side was excellent. It had a thin consistency and a little heat. Very Kansas City style bbq sauce. I did not like the white bbq sauce that came on the side. It looked more like a mayo or tarter sauces For dessert, I got the chocolate pudding with whip cream. It's very tough. Not what I expected. Almost like in between pudding and fudge. It tasted good though. It tastes more of cocoa than chocolate. Overall, for a hotel restaurant it's pretty good but a little pricey... but that's expected in hotels. If you are traveling through, you can get a decent meal here. Great for socializing and work groups! Oh...Service was great. Seat yourself and I was immediately waited on and drinks stayed full. I was staying at the Marriott and decided to dine in that night to make life easy. The restaurant is quite inviting, but the seating isn't ideal for a meal. Cozy couch-like seating with tables attached. The wait staff was beyond friendly, informative and awesome! I ordered the salmon and asked for it "on the rare side of medium" and got an overcooked, dried-out piece of fish. The two sides were presented in cups and no attempt was made to make a proper presentation of the meal. Would I dine there again? Yes, strictly for the convenience. But I think details need to be addressed to maximize the customer experience. read more

Lovely restaurant inside Marriott at the KCI Airport. Beautiful patio seating which we didn't partake in but observed others out there. If I could give half stars this place would be a solid 2.5 but I just can't bring myself to go three stars. Let's start with the good. I had the burnt ends mac & cheese with a side of crispy brussel sprouts. The flavor of the cheese sauce was good. A little soupy at first but it thickens up as it cooled. The crispy brussel sprouts were really good. Probably the best part of the meal. Now the not so good. They use a campanelle noodle which isn't a bad choice but the pasta was over cooked. The burnt ends weren't so much burnt ends as much as fatty hunks of smoked meat with a bit of a chemical taste, almost like lighter fluid. It wasn't overpowering but it was there. Maybe I'm a BBQ snob but I wouldn't have called them burnt ends. The service was just okay. I sat at the bar and the bartender kept telling people how great their food looked and how he wished he could eat it all. Kind of annoying. The restaurant is in a hotel near the airport and way over priced. They obviously know they have a captive audience with few other choices. I won't go back but I didn't leave hungry. read more

Good quality drinks and food in a very busy airport hotel. The restaurant ambience is business related but also has outdoor dining (weather permitting) and a nice size horseshoe shaped bar. While the menus are not extensive they offer good options for the traveler. The price points are typical hotel level however the food & drink quality justify the expense. read more

I have had a couple dishes here and they have been good. The first was macaroni and brisket... The brisket was wonderful but the macaroni was just so-so and a little pricey for what you get which was about $16. The second dish I had was a chicken dish with good pasta and it was blackened, which was good and roughly around $18... It was a healthy portion, so you had plenty for leftovers. Overall it's a great hotel restaurant if you're on business travel but I would not recommend going out of your way to come here because it's near the airport in rather isolated. read more

Service was meh. Drink was made well, but not with a smile or any welcoming feeling. As a bar it may be ok, though from what we saw, one bar tender on a busy Saturday evening was not enough. We arrived at 3:30 planning on an early dinner, which contrato to what the front desk told us, they start serving at 4. There were a handful of people there. Two couples at tables and 4 people at the bar. No tables were set for dining and the seating area, though confítale for lounges seating weren't great for dining with the exception of a few actual tables. All else were comfy chairs with cocktail tables. Suitable for drinks and apps, not a full meal. One long communal table. Menus online are nothing like the one in the restaurant. Typical hotel menus. KC Steak Salad made with flank steak. Only steaks were ribeye or sirloin. No KC Strip, which was surprising as we are in KC. We were expecting more of a steak house. It is not. I spoke with a couple of people that said bat bites are good. Again, we didn't eat, just completely unimpressed by the set up, menu and mostly the unfriendly service when the place was close to empty. Came here on a business trip and it was pretty good. Prices were extremely high, but expected for a hotel restaurant. They have a really cool setup, perfect for small work groups, single travelers, or larger parties, and their bar has a really cool vibe to it. I got the Mac and cheese with burnt ends, it was good but not amazing. The Mac was flavorful and creamy, but not worth the price tag. Meat was also flavorful but they gave me extremely fatty pieces when I prefer the crispier burnt ends. I had the recommended bread pudding for dessert at again, it was okay, not memorable. For the price, probably not worth it. Service was only sub par and the place wasn't packed by any means. It's definitely there for convenience. read more

Met up with friends in this place.. not a lot of variety of foods. I ordered the the Tortilla chips and fire roasted salsa. The salsa was sooo salty and End up not eating it at all. But the service was fine and the place was comfortable and cozy. So I gave 3 stars for that. read more
