Beef rib and mashed potatoes
A.j. P.

This spot is under the radar!! I only sat down because I was staying at the Marriott. The kitchen is open till 1am, and the modern set up gives it "we're not in Kansas, anymore" feel. Becky the server gave me her advice, and went with the beef rib and mashed potatoes. My meal was all that!! The rib and potatoes were smothered in a gravy, and it all came together into the perfect bite. The rib was cooked to perfection, no knife needed. The mashed potatoes were buttery and tasty. Some of the other dishes, I've being served has me thinking that there isn't a bad choice here. This place is worth your time and effort. **Flight Attendant approved""

Was not a fan. Let me first extend some grace. It was only 2 people working the lunch hour. One of them just started. She is the reason for the additional star. She was working the bar..... answering the phones... was sweet and apologetic...... many times. The other was busy but overlooked me to take orders from people that was there 15 minutes after I arrived. I waited 30 minutes for a box but my food came up fast. The food: wasn't good. I ordered the rueben..... fries.... and crispy Brussel sprouts. All tasted like they were all from frozen products..... had the same freezer burn taste. All three of them. The place itself was good for groups and had a nice outside area that they weren't serving in because of the of the lack of staff. I wouldn't try anything there again. It was less that average....2 stars but the new girl made it an additional star. Pictured below is the glass. It seemed clean on the inside. I asked for a plastic cup.

Bbq half chicken with sautéed mushrooms

Today, I stopped in at Kansas City (Missouri NOT KANSAS hah!). The temperature outside in the single digits, so I gave KC Tap + Table in the MCI Airport Marriot a shot. The menu isn't vast, but has enough to pick from. I went with the BBQ half chicken. You can pick one side such as mashed potatoes, baked potato, grilled asparagus, etc. I got sautéed garlic mushrooms. The mushroom were really good! The garlic was abundant but overpowering. The chicken was good, but slightly overdone making some pieces were tough. I get they probably went for crispy skin, but over did the whole chicken slightly. As for taste, it was very good. The chicken has a rub on it that taste good in its own and the chicken has a strong smoke flavor. I really enjoyed it. The red bbq sauce it comes with on the side was excellent. It had a thin consistency and a little heat. Very Kansas City style bbq sauce. I did not like the white bbq sauce that came on the side. It looked more like a mayo or tarter sauces For dessert, I got the chocolate pudding with whip cream. It's very tough. Not what I expected. Almost like in between pudding and fudge. It tasted good though. It tastes more of cocoa than chocolate. Overall, for a hotel restaurant it's pretty good but a little pricey... but that's expected in hotels. If you are traveling through, you can get a decent meal here. Great for socializing and work groups! Oh...Service was great. Seat yourself and I was immediately waited on and drinks stayed full. The food only took 10min or so to get!

Lovely restaurant inside Marriott at the KCI Airport. Beautiful patio seating which we didn't partake in but observed others out there. There were only 2 workers at the time but service was exceptional and the food was served promptly and fresh. Nice quiet ambiance as it wasn't busy at all.

Stayed at the hotel and the food is really good. The cheesecake was absolutely amazing and since my food was to go, The packaging was great! The Brussels sprouts are Soo good! I highly Recommend.

They make a lot of their items from scratch on the premises. Their house BBQ sauce is delicious. I had the lunch BBQ Sandwich - Excellent. The waitress Becky was attentive, courteous and over all great server.

"Burnt ends" mac&cheese

If I could give half stars this place would be a solid 2.5 but I just can't bring myself to go three stars. Let's start with the good. I had the burnt ends mac & cheese with a side of crispy brussel sprouts. The flavor of the cheese sauce was good. A little soupy at first but it thickens up as it cooled. The crispy brussel sprouts were really good. Probably the best part of the meal. Now the not so good. They use a campanelle noodle which isn't a bad choice but the pasta was over cooked. The burnt ends weren't so much burnt ends as much as fatty hunks of smoked meat with a bit of a chemical taste, almost like lighter fluid. It wasn't overpowering but it was there. Maybe I'm a BBQ snob but I wouldn't have called them burnt ends. The service was just okay. I sat at the bar and the bartender kept telling people how great their food looked and how he wished he could eat it all. Kind of annoying. The restaurant is in a hotel near the airport and way over priced. They obviously know they have a captive audience with few other choices. I won't go back but I didn't leave hungry.

Always great service. I highly suggest the KC dry rub wings and steak soup. I hate Brussel sprouts, but you can't tell because I eat theirs. They are so GOOD, fried and tossed in a really good sauce. I've never had a bad meal here thus far. Really great place, especially being a hotel restaurant.

Blackened chicken and pasta. Good flavor.

Located at 2976 Gillham Rd in Kansas City, MO, this spot absolutely lives up to the hype. I had heard so many great things before going, and I'm happy to say it did not disappoint. The brunch menu is impressively diverse, with something for everyone. It was honestly hard to choose because everything sounded so good. We started with a vanilla oat milk latte, which was perfectly made -- smooth, rich, and not overly sweet. For starters and mains, we tried the smothered biscuit, dill caper deviled eggs (including the sriracha version, which had the perfect kick), buttermilk fried chicken, the chicken and waffles three-way (beautiful presentation and incredible flavor), and the vegetarian quiche of the day. Every single dish delivered on flavor, quality, and presentation. You can truly tell care goes into both the food and the overall experience. This has officially earned a spot on my list of top brunch spots in Kansas City. Trying to capture how delicious everything was in one review is tough, but I'll give it my best. First off, customer service was outstanding--Lyssa truly knocked it out of the park. She was so delightful, and I couldn't help but laugh when we both got excited about my sandwich choice. These folks really know their stuff. They treat their animals with care and expertise, and it shows. Having been to many fine dining spots, I can honestly say the quality of meat here at The Upper Cut KC surpasses them all. I'm picky about my food and can tell great quality when I see it & taste it. The Upper Cut KC deserves way more than five stars--seriously, I mean it! I also tasted my daughter's brisket sandwich--absolutely tender beyond words. And don't miss their Mac & Cheese; it's worth a standing ovation! Do yourself a favor: just go and experience it! I thought the brisket sandwich was fairly tasty, but it wasn't huge, the onions weren't carmelized they were grilled, and the brisket wasn't smokey. The Mac and cheese was fine and good but not great. If I lived closer and I could get the above with a soda for $20-23, I would give it 4 stars. There's nothing amazing about it to earn 5 stars even if it were priced like I wish. The place wasn't that busy, but with one register running, 4 people in line, and ringing up 2 butcher orders that came in after I was there, it took me about 12 minutes to place the order and another 20 to have my sandwich and side.

It was a nice gesture by the staff. Our server Adam was too notch, very professional and knowledgeable of the menu. He really made our experience very enjoyable. He even prepared some of our drinks at our table with one hand! Cool guy. Our food was phenomenal, the Chilean Sea Bass was prepared nicely and seasoned lightly with blackend like seasoning. I was surprised at the small portion sizes that came with our dishes. So definitely get the share size sides. The carrot cake dessert was also pretty incredible, very dense and flavor was not so intense. The vibe here is definitely upscale, although their bar had a couple large TVs. For appetizers, I would highly highly recommend the Ahi Tuna Tartare and the Hamachi Crudo. Other wonderful starters are the Warm Bread Service and a sushi roll (we went with the Spicy Tuna). For dinner, recently, I had the Ahi Tuna and the Chilean Sea Bass. Both were wonderful, but my favorite was definitely the Sea Bass. It is so rich and delicious. Those I was with ordered the Sea Scallops (looked incredible), Filets (with different preparations - Maytag Blue Cheese Crust and Black Truffle Butter), and sides of Bacon Creamed Spinach and Jalapeño Au Gratin (all of which I heard were divine). The ambiance is classic and elegant. The service was truly exceptional. Our server, Fatima, was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu, and when asked, she provided excellent recommendations that genuinely improved our dining experience. But the prime rib was shockingly lacking flavor, the filet came out undercooked, service was polite yet inattentive and slow, and the overall experience didn't justify the high-end price tag. Enjoyable night, but not the 5-star steakhouse splurge we hoped for. My wife and I visited the downtown Kansas City location last night for an early birthday dinner. 6:00 p.m. reservation and we were seated immediately in a cozy booth with a festive Christmas-tree napkin fold, nice holiday touch. Atmosphere is classic upscale steakhouse: dark, dim lighting, white tablecloths. Bread was warm, crusty, and excellent. Cocktails were solid, my top-shelf Old Fashioned was very good, wife's mocktail was tasty. Both ordered the Sunday Supper (salad, entrée, dessert). SaladsThe Caesar was outstanding: crisp romaine, perfect anchovy-garlic dressing, plenty of Parmesan, and an ideal crouton-to-green ratio. One of the better Caesars we've had in KC. MainsPlating on both dishes was gorgeous. My wife's 6 oz filet (ordered medium-rare) came out closer to rare. Still tender and high-quality, but the temperature miss was noticeable. Garlic mashed potatoes were creamy and flavorful; the grilled asparagus was unfortunately thick, woody, and surprisingly bland. My 24 oz bone-in prime rib (medium-rare) was cooked perfectly throughout. At the server's recommendation, I had it finished on the grill with extra seasoning. It looked spectacular, vibrant color, beautiful crust. Sadly, the flavor just wasn't there. Severely lacking that deep, beefy punch you expect from a premium cut at this price. The same mashed potatoes were good, and the fresh green beans were spot-on, tender-crisp and bright. Desserts (to-go for the Chiefs game)Sorbet trio (raspberry, plum, blackberry?) was outstanding, bright and intense. Crème brûlée was classic perfection. ServiceFriendly but passively slow and not very attentive. Far from the proactive polish you expect at this level. Bottom line 3.5 starsLooks the part, photographs beautifully, and the Sunday Supper is a steal, but the star proteins fell flat on flavor and service didn't match the price. Good, not great, several KC steakhouses deliver a more memorable splurge for the money. Happy to return for happy hour or bar bites, but for a big celebratory steak dinner I'd go elsewhere.
