Having moved from California, I did not have an established dentist in KC, so I went to them for my check up and the zoom whitening and I have really had a great experience there. All the ladies in the office are very personable and friendly. Their only drawback is that their office hours are pretty limited. Mon, Wed & Thurs 8-5 and closed on Tues, Fri, Sat, Sun. They have another office, Westwood Dental, which is open Mon-Thurs 7-5, and Fri 9-1. With that being said, I ended up getting a veneer done by them and while I was waiting the two weeks for my permanent to be made, it popped off twice (very common with the type I was having done). Both times, someone came in outside of business hours to rebond it for me at no extra cost and made feel like it was no big deal they came in on their day off I will definitely be going back to them and I now feel great about my smile!." ...I forgot to mention that I went to a lab in KCK to get the color of my teeth matched to create the permanent veneer. I was told this was the best lab in town. At first I was not sure. You go down to a sketchy looking basement to meet with a technician. I had asked that they apply sealants to his teeth at our initial visits and they agreed. It turns out that they did not apply sealants to his back teeth - the very teeth that they claimed had ridges on top that would make them cavity-prone. So now they wanted to drill the cavities. Because the female dentist was not very kind - at all - in responding to my concerns - I asked to speak with Dr. Polina - only to learn that this lady was his wife. That was my last visit to his office. I found an excellent dentist for my child who indicated that he in fact did not need to have cavities filled on his back teeth. Dr. Polina is on the Medicare program - and many children coming to see him may not have the resources to scrutinize and challenge the work done at his office. I would suggest that potential clients look for dentists that have consistent 4 or 5-star ratings.

Then I received a text saying that they emailed me a link to the new patient forms. I let them know that I had not received the email and was never responded back to. The morning of our appointments, I received another text stating that they had not received our forms yet. I texted back letting them know that I never received the email again and asked them to call me. I was told that they would call back after they were off the phone. They never returned my call and then gave me attitude when I showed up for our appointments because the forms had not been filled out yet. When I complained, in person, that no one ever picks up the phone there or calls back as they say they will, I was told that they were really busy that morning. No thanks... called another pediatric dentist that actually picked up the phone, made our appointments, emailed us a "Welcome to our practice" email with an online registration and calendar reminder about an hour after we spoke with them.

While I was always impressed and felt at home with the dentists and hygienists at this office, the front desk staff ruined my experience and trust in this business. First off, for understandable reasons, my appointment for a regular cleaning was canceled 3 times the night before or day of, when I requested and took time off work each time--once for a snow day, another for a sick hygienist, and the 3rd time the suction wasn't working in the office. I understand things come up and can't always be avoided, but it's difficult when you're a professional with limited time off and you take days for nothing. I did cancel three appointments as well, all for valid reasons--fever/covid, had to put down sick pet at the vet, and my grandma who was in hospice care died the day of. I called and canceled my appointment, right after finding out my grandma was almost gone and I wanted to get to her house before she passed. The receptionist who answered (sorry, don't remember name) was extremely rude and disrespectful. She said "Sure...and last time it was a dying pet." with no trace of empathy or understanding in her tone. I was appalled. She then continued to argue, saying they'd no longer be able to schedule me. I asked if Dr. Perriman could call me back to chat about the situation and the way I was being treated, and she yelled over the phone that "this was coming from the dentist." I've never been berated over the phone like that or interacted with someone as mean and disrespectful as this person was--let alone a client-facing professional. Within 1 minute of hanging up, I received a $50 payment link for a late cancellation. I understand this is normal for late cancellations and paid the fee. I just wish there was an ounce of empathy, understanding, and good customer service from this woman. She was very respectful, understanding, and apologized for the mistreatment I'd received. I wish I remembered her name, so she'd receive her well-deserved recognition. They put me on the schedule, but I couldn't get past the mistreatment, disrespect, and hatred I received from the previous receptionist. I read some online reviews and found another local dentist that has staff who treat their patients with respect and dignity. I hope Dr. Perriman sees this review and conducts some performance reviews to ensure other patients are treated with more kindness and respect than I was. It seems like there have unfortunately been a good number of negative experiences/reviews for this practice recently. I hope they get things together, because the dentist and hygienists I interacted with were great. It's unfortunate to have an office staff member running your clients off.
