KBOQ 95.5 does not even exist. I don't know who started this page, but KBOQ was most recently at 103.9FM, and hasn't been at 95.5 for almost 2 years. 95.5 is now BOB FM which is an awesome station playing the "80s, 90s, & whatever," while 103.9FM is now B103.9 and plays the [soft rock] "Songs you Remember." If you're going to complain, at least get the details right. read more

Well, until this week I would have rated KBOQ 5 stars for its broadcast of a wide range of classical music for the central coast. BUT NO MORE! Now I rate it -1 star as it suddenly changed its format to rock. Do the station execs not realize what a large audience for classical music exists in this area?? We have the Carmel Bach Festival, Monterey and Santa Cruz symphonies, chamber music series, youth orchestras, opera, YOSAL (a highly successful musical lesson program for under served children in Salinas). There also several classical music choral groups in the area. So what were they thinking?? Another degradation of American culture?. read more

I wish I could give it zero stars. Bad move switching formats (and before anyone gets excited, I understand it was a "business" decision, but IMO, a poor one). I wonder what the local businesses who advertised on KBOQ feel about the change. I agree with Eater. I live in Gilroy, and was thankful there was still one classical station within range of my radio. Now, I have to count on hit or miss receiving KUSP's signal, and hope that when the station is broadcasting classical music I can receive it. "Give it a chance"? How does that make any sense when people are looking for classical music and not "soft" rock? Ugh. read more
