I have to say, absolutely worth the FIVE STARS. We are here in Cappadocia for Three Days and this…read moreis our first night here. Really wanted a memorable Dinner and found it with the Beef Cheek served with Mashed Potatoes in a Reduction and "The Golden Pot" which is a Porcini Mushroom Risotto in I believe a Parmesan Sauce that did not drown the dish. The Beef Cheek, so tender, broke apart with just your fork. Slow Cooked for 21 hours according to the Owner. The Reduction had a nice hint of Pepper to add something extra. I also found out this Dish has been nominated for a Michelin Star. The Bulgar Wheat Risotto "The Golden Pot" had a nice mild Earthly flavor from the Porcini Mushrooms with that light Cream Sauce was how a this dish should be at every Restaurant. However, no one seems to get it right before dining here. Firm texture, not gummy, definitely not bland and overall just a very satisfying meal. I am not a Food Critic or a Chef nor do I pretend to have Grand Illusions of having ultimate Food Knowledge, but I spent 20 years as a Line Cook and grew up in a Kitchen learning from the best Cook I know, my Grandma, so I know good food and have always had a passion for it.

Upon arrival they greet you with tea and cookies and make you feel like you are welcome by trying to get to know you. We even got fun Turkish names! The grandma, husband, wife and kids were all so warm and the food we made was amazing. My only regret is eating food before going bc all the food there was DELICIOUS and there was A LOT. You will not be hungry after that's for sure. If you have time I would definitely take this class. I loved it so much and feel like I got a truly authentic Turkish experience and foods. Plus their home and kitchen is beautiful!

I had a lentil soup to start with which was a bit of the watery side, it wasn't great compared to other soups in the region. For the main I had the beef kebab which came with rice and salad. So I had come to Saray with avery low expectation and the waiter/ owner's friendliness dragged my friend and I to give them a try. I ordered kofte that came with soft bread and rice and salad. We also ordered the eggplant that was a little undertaste, but a pinch of salt did it. I'd suggest people to give this place a try.

We all had the Elmacioglu iskender which is different than the regular one by having egg plant and inegol meatball. It was a quality one and we were all satisfied with it. But it was not so different than any other quality iskender you can have in other cities. We also had ezme salat to share. It was different than the eastern style with more tomato flavor. But it was certainly good. We had iskender ayran (yogurt drink). Goat yogurt made the taste different than the regular ayrans. Employees were helpful, but not cheerful and looked tired at around the noon time.
