Nothing truly outstanding, though one of the most inexpensive Korean restaurants in town. Almost…read moreall items are under $10 and are quite filling when combined with side dishes. The only reason I frequent this place is because my wife loves their Soontofu Chigae (Sundubu Jjigae), a boiling hot and spicy tofu, veggie and seafood stew served in a small hotpot. I'd also recommend their Bibimbap, mixed rice dish with sauteed and seasoned vegetables, meat, raw egg and hot sauce. It's quite good. If you dislike spicy food, Korean cuisine might be a poor choice. Here in particular, there are very few dishes without chili powder in them. Some safer choices are noodle broths like Japchai and Mool Naengmyun or meat dishes like Beef Bulgogi and Pork Kalbikui. Most dishes come with white rice and four banchan items (Korean side dishes). Cold side dishes are typical to most Korean restaurants, here they consist of baechu kimchi (spicy pickled cabbage), seaweed with gochujang (chili pepper paste), kongnamul (boiled bean sprouts with sesame oil) and boiled potatoes in mildly spicy sauce. If you run out, just ask for more. Restaurant serves free plain warm tea or water with unlimited refills. At the end you will also get a complimentary parting drink, some sort of traditional herbal drink with ginger and cinnamon, served cold. The area this restaurant in is kind of sketchy, and the place is very easy to miss if you've never been here before. The space is small, but cozy, clean and neat. I would not use it for large groups, since most tables will sit two or four. Definitely not a romantic dinner destination. Best for quick lunch or dinner after work, or if you're eating out on a budget. Be aware that they accept only Visa, cash or debit. I was nearly stuck once, having MasterCard, Am-ex and $20 cash in my wallet and a $22 bill. Had to search my pockets for some loose change and couldn't leave a proper tip. In summary, Kimbaek is a nice, small, clean and simple family restaurant, with pretty decent food and low prices.

Came here for lunch, food was served up quickly but the service was dismal. Seriously, she came by once and that was to bring our food. My tiny tea cup was not refilled at all. if you don't want to refill the tea, then please give me a tea pot so I can do that at the table. had the beef bulgogi and the bibimbap with beef and egg. Both tasted very similar except the bibimbap came with the egg and some other veggies in that stone bowl. The flavours were very light and too subtle for what Korean food. I had to add a lot of hot sauce. The best part of Korean food is the little side dishes they bring out with your meal....the offerings here were very underwhelming. All in all, the meal came to $24 before tips so not bad for two people. It was filling enough but not if you had a huge appetite.

The food here is amazing. Both times I've gone have been for Chinese food, though they also do a…read moreKorean BBQ which I'm looking forward to trying in the future. They have two different Chinese menus - one of authentic dishes and one of "Canadian-Chinese" food. There's great stuff on both menus though. Tonight we ordered the hot & sour soup and sweet & sour chicken balls from the Canadian-Chinese menu and the gailan & mushrooms and fried lamb with cumin. The hot & sour soup was delicious. The heat was just perfect and while I generally like mine a little more sour, the flavour was still very nicely balanced. It was loaded with tofu, egg & chicken and there was a good amount of pea carrot & bamboo. The chicken balls were the best I've ever had. A generous portion of chicken coated with a thin layer of batter that was deep fried to golden crispiness. I've never had chicken balls that were crispy like that. The sauce was average - not the bright red syrupy stuff but a more reddish-orange jelly consistency that complimented the chicken balls nicely. I really enjoyed the gailan & mushrooms. The plate comes with gailan on one half and shitake mushrooms on the other. The gailan was cooked but still crisp and the mushrooms were sliced and cooked till soft & meaty in texture. The sauce was delicious. The lamb was sliced into thin sheets & stir fried with onion, cilantro, green onion, cumin & other spices. It's a really flavourful and fragrant dish, probably not something you can eat too much of as it's extremely bold. The lamb ranges from really tender to a little bit chewy, as some pieces have a bit of gristle running through them. All in all a really amazing dish. Service was a little slow, and food took a while to come out of the kitchen (we were starting to wonder if they'd forgotten about our lamb as it didn't come out until we were finished with our other dishes.) If you don't look Asian they'll bring you the Canadian-Chinese menu and a plate with knife & fork. If you want the authentic menu or prefer a bowl & chopsticks you'll have to ask. Prices were reasonable. Four dishes and an iced tea came out to $42 after tax, before tip. Rice was included with the meal no charge. I'm looking forward to going back. Also, to eating my left overs, as there was enough food to feed 6 or 7 people, much more than the two of us could manage.

The appetizers and raw seafood were self serve in a buffet area in unsanitary conditions. Our beef for our all you can eat BBQ was frozen (Did they think we would only eat 1 small plate of mixed meat between the 4 of us?), even the the ice cream was old! The total came out to over $120.00 for 4 all you can eat meals which, in our opinion, was NOT worth it at all. In the end we were all just full on disappointment. I recommend you go eat at the subway or Pizza Hut next door.

Every table has one because everyone in the restaurant is busy preparing food or other related actions in the back, but once you press that button someone walks over to your table. My friend loved his chicken meal and the Teriyaki rice. I got to eat some of the rice too. I was pleasantly surprised that the vegetables in the rice also included little pieces of mushrooms. It was delicious! The Kimchi and sauce they bring to the table before the meal were so tasty. In fact, they helped make my Seafood pancake meal tastier. The seafood pancake meal is packed with a bit of vegetables and a lot of eggs and seafood BUT without salt or those sauces it's kind of bland. But it's an easy fix, like I said, putting the default sauce on it brought this meal to a 4 stars in my opinion.

My bibimbap missed the mark sadly with rice that failed to crisp, an over cooked egg, and disappointing flavour. The room itself is the real miss. It's like sitting down to eat in someone's garage. Half the room is deep freezes, tools, storage, and kids toys. There is no music or attempt at ambiance. It was an awkward experience but we really liked our dragon eye roll:)
