5 stars for the customer service and decorations. This place feels authentic to it's Asian culture. You can even sit on the floor and eat at the floor table section with children or your group of friends etc. I loved the button feature that calls the waitress or waiter to your table. Every table has one because everyone in the restaurant is busy preparing food or other related actions in the back, but once you press that button someone walks over to your table. My friend loved his chicken meal and the Teriyaki rice. I got to eat some of the rice too. I was pleasantly surprised that the vegetables in the rice also included little pieces of mushrooms. It was delicious! The Kimchi and sauce they bring to the table before the meal were so tasty. In fact, they helped make my Seafood pancake meal tastier. The seafood pancake meal is packed with a bit of vegetables and a lot of eggs and seafood BUT without salt or those sauces it's kind of bland. But it's an easy fix, like I said, putting the default sauce on it brought this meal to a 4 stars in my opinion. read more

Bimi Japanese Restaurant - Teriyaki rice, kimchi, and sauce - Japanese Near Me - Winnipeg, Manitoba

Bimi has a good foundation to build on with friendly service however the execution is a big miss. We really enjoyed our sushi as the fish and seaweed really punched through with a lot of flavour. My bibimbap missed the mark sadly with rice that failed to crisp, an over cooked egg, and disappointing flavour. The room itself is the real miss. It's like sitting down to eat in someone's garage. Half the room is deep freezes, tools, storage, and kids toys. There is no music or attempt at ambiance. It was an awkward experience but we really liked our dragon eye roll:) read more

This location is in the compound of Kenaston Village Mall at Grant ave. The parking space is public and shared between the stores in this area. We came in on Monday night so we expected that it wouldn't be busy. It turned out that theygpt busy after we walked in. This is not my first time in this restaurant so im pretty familiar with their menu. When seated they give yputhe menu and they tell you to press the button to ring for ready to order. We usually order the chicken first since it always takes forever to come. Unfortunately this is one of the days that even though we ordered it ahead, it was still the last one to come on the table. They have a decent portion with decent prices. We got the medium gamjatang hotpot and it was a lot for 3 people sp i would say thats pretty worth it. The servers apologize that their service is slow due to unseen busy flow of customer so that was a nice touch but it did took at least 30mins for our prders to come. read more

I was here once during a week day with some friends and the service was AWFUL. I felt bad for the waitress as she seemed frantic and stressed but it wasn't even that busy in there. The server was kind however I just feel they need more staff. Everyone at my table ordered at the same time and by the time I got my food they were done eating and ready for the bill. There are much better places with higher quality food and better service in Winnipeg. I don't recommend going here. read more

I have to agree with the other two reviews of this place. It was really not what I had expected. It looks as if 20 years ago it might have been a nice place. Food was horrible service was ok. This place should just close up shop. read more

Bimi is the only restaurant which was so lacking in quality that I had to create a Yelp Account to help people avoid wasting their hard earned money. I went here on a date for some typical sushi rolls and some tempura. The tempura tasted like old oil, and the chicken was too dry to chew. I'll just say that all of the sushi was dry and tasteless. It had a funky taste that I find hard to describe. In terms of presentation, the sushi was served on a very old and overly used piece of wood. It's time they got some new plates. Overall I'd say the sushi was practically inedible. We just couldn't finish more than a few pieces from each roll. Now, I really love sushi and I'm very easy to please when it comes to food. Bimi's quality is just too poor. I hope they put some passion into their food and improve the flavour. read more

I would not come here again. That being said ; the servers are very nice, but they're over worked. There was one waitress for a full restaurant of people, so service is noticeably slow. We had ordered 2 orders of shrimp tempura (6 pieces each order) and the first of the 2 orders came and the rest came around 10 minutes later. Apparently there is only one chef working at that time, so food comes out slow. I saw tables leave because they weren't getting served or their food in a timely manner. We ordered off of the all you can eat (28$ per person) and it was by far the slowest experience I've ever had. We only ordered sashimi and tempura and it's taken over an hour for food to arrive, and they came in small batches. The sashimi we ordered was subpar, the salmon didn't taste fresh and only came in small slices, the tuna tasted strange as with the rest of the sashimi we ordered (we basically ordered everything). The lack of staff means tables don't get cleaned as often, servers run across the place to help customers and who seems to be the owner is cleaning up some tables (I think he should hire more staff). We reordered off the all you can eat and it's been 20-30 minutes and not a single one has come, most likely attributed to the lack of staff. All in all, food is subpar comparative to the $28 price tag for each person, service is astonishingly slow (not the fault of the staff there, more a management issue) and overall not an enjoyable dining experience. L Silver lining in all of this is the waiting staff, very nice and hardworking, running across the place to help customers and apologetic for issues that aren't their fault. I commend the staff for the effort they put in, it's very respectable. read more

I live in the river heights area, so I like to support the local economy. I have been to many sushi places in Winnipeg, one being Blufish, sushi California, ASOYAMA Sushi, SUSHI CUSHI, the list goes on... BIMI, is great, you just need to know what to order. The menu has lots to pick from. I would say I visit Bimi once a month and Blufish every other month, Bimi isn't going to break the bank and it's fish is really fresh. If you aren't sure, go there for lunch, and book your afternoon off. read more

Good sushi/nice decor can't make up for a rude server and a 45 minute wait! There was literally one other table there when we arrived. Other customers seemed to receive better service as we sat and were ignored. Waitress didn't have the slightest idea about decorum. No thanks. read more

After eating at many sushi establishments in Winnipeg, I would rate this sushi place as one of the worst in terms of quality and service. The sushi was also very expensive. Totally not worth it. Try at your own risk. read more

Ran around and tried lots of these sushi places, and this is one that I will not be returning to. The service was OK, but the sushi was not there, everyone in our party was underwhelmed by the offering. read more

Food is not bad, but the service is TERRIBLE. We ordered 4 kinds of sushi rolls and each took about an hour to arrive. We were starving by the time food arrived. We ran out of water at our table, told a waitress about it, she NEVER came back until we ran out of patience and asked again (20 mins after the initial request.) She was nice enough to offer complimentary ice cream so that was appreciated. OVERALL, if you are already hungry, don't go to this place. read more

Was at first skeptical because of the previous reviews, but given that they're from 2009 and 2010 respectively thought I'd give it a shot and was very pleasantly surprised. Have been back multiple times since. You can order food a la carte, but I love their all-you-can-eat made-to-order dinner special for $25 (cheaper for lunch) - you can get sushi rolls, maki, sashimi, soups and noodles, and any of their appetizers. The sushi was fresh and tasty and there were a variety of traditional and less traditional rolls to try. The appetizers were great as well, as was the ramen. Definitely a great deal as it's easy to eat more than your money's worth. Service is also fine (although not spectacular). read more

Quite possibly the worst sushi place in the city. And there are a lot. Every roll on the menu tastes the same - heavily mixed with mayo. I ordered a Diet Coke which in most restaurants isn't too uncommon of a drink request. I guess here it was, because they poured it out of an opened 2L bottle. It was completely flat. When I brought it to their attention, they said if I wanted a can it would cost extra. I said fine, whatever, bring me a can. Also it's pretty off-putting to see the staff retrieve food from a chest freezer that's located by the front door and carry it through the restaurant. I'm usually pretty happy to take advantage of a deal, but even the half-price Mondays and Tuesdays don't make this place worth going to. read more

I went bimi yesterday with my girl friend and they serving all u can eat for 23dollar it was very nice. food was okay and the good thing is I can have everything what I want also qulity was better than other all u can eat oh and soft drinks are also included that's my favourate part haha read more

I was so upset that I wasted my money on this restaurant, it seemed the chefs were not even trying. The rolls were sloppy, the fish smelled old and it was even served on a chipped plate. Really, they didn't even have a plate that wasn't chipped? Add to this the slightly higher prices for ordering off the menu and I will never go back. read more

Not even one star for this restaurant. Just visited the place with my family and it was so disappointed. The service was good but the food was garbage. When you order all you can eat they put so much rice into the sushi and you can't even taste the rest of the sushi. Not worth it going there. We've been to different sushi and Korean place but this is the worst. First and last visit and don't recommended to anyone. read more

I took my daughter there yesterday for supper. Flies crawled out of the california rolls, and I told the really awful staff, who apologized. They then brought out another order, and we found flies embedded in that sushi..after apologizing again, and refunding that part of my order, they then denied we had seen what we had. Absolutely the worst service imaginable, huge delays in gettng any courses delivered, and an obviously unsanitary kitchen.. read more

My husband and I went for lunch at Bimi for the first time. The atmosphere was ok. Quiet, not too busy. The service was excellent. I ordered sushi and sashimi, only the butterfish as I always do and it was quite good. If you're a fan of tempura veggies and prawns though, I would not recommend. I found it to be extremely greasy. Like the grease needed to be changed and wasn't hot enough. Probably the worst I've had. My husband passed on dessert but I had a $3.75 bowl of icecream and our lunch came to $45. A tad pricey but not outrageous. read more

PRETTY BAD service experience. I have been there for twice. In fact, the experience of first time was no bad, the waitress was a Korean girl and we had a very good conversation on that time. However, the service was terrible on tonight. I went to Bimi with my friends who first language is Cantonese, and two people who are speaking English were sitting beside us. One of their waitress (not the Korean girl) was very kind to serve people who speak English and sit beside us, but she turned to a poker face when she turned to serve us after she heard my friends speak Cantonese, her expression just like we don't deserve a service at all. Moreover, after we paid bills, she didn't even ask us to would have a receipt or not, and absolutely she didn't say thank u or thanks even though the Korean girl said bye to me.I just wanna write them down because I want u guys know the way of bad service I had might be happened on u someday. I would call it racism and it really made me upset. I would not go there anymore, and I won't even recommend u guys to go there read more
