This was more than dinner. It was an experience…read more We sat tucked away in a little corner that honestly felt like we were having dinner in someone's grandmother's house, and I mean that in the BEST way possible. Cozy, warm, intimate and welcoming. And the FOOD?! I was convinced somebody's Italian grandmother had to be downstairs hand making that pasta because there was no other explanation. I had the lobster ravioli and started with the bruschetta tostada. Everything was absolutely chef's kiss. Fresh, flavorful and tasted like it was made with love. But what made the experience even better was our waiter, Mauricio! He was simply amazing. He genuinely took care of us, shared the story of the restaurant and talked about how much he enjoyed working there. And you could tell. It showed in the way he treated us and the attention he gave throughout the entire meal. Great food is one thing. Great food paired with genuine hospitality is something completely different. I will DEFINITELY be back the next time I'm in San Diego. If you're looking for homemade pasta, amazing food and that warm family feel, put this place on your list. You will not be disappointed.

The reviews here say the service is friendly and good and they are right! Jenny looked after us and we both really liked her! Vibrant and friendly. Mixed drinks were ok. I wasn't thrilled with my watermelon one (I forget the name) but the wine i had after was excellent. For dinner I had the smoked pork chop and I have to say, it was a little odd. Ive never had meat or pork especially that was so soft and mushy? I mean I kinda liked it but it was just so weird. I was trying to figure out how they did that because usually pork has a nice chew to it. You could eat this with no teeth and thats no exaggeration. The sauce kinda overpowers the nice smoked pork flavor. The rice was amazing- made with sesame oil or something. My wife had the salmon and loved it. Huge dish too. Oh their ceasar salad has the big ancovy fishes on top - not my favorite but some places do this. Just FYI. Some other review mentioned it looked like a concrete bunker with flowers. Ha I can see that but we both thought the place was cute! Very loud though! Concrete walls and stone bar wall - even when it wasn't busy its hard to hear your friends. So I don't know. I'd go back maybe?

Our server team was excellent. They were attentive but stayed out of the way so we could enjoy each other's company. Drinks and food were delivered in an appropriate time frame. We had a couple of their specialty cocktails and they were very good. They kept a cold bottle of water filled on our table all through our visit. We shared their Artichoke with fennel grilled appetizer, and it was excellent with the grilling and sauce for dipping. We then shared a Caesar Salad, and my wife thought it was one of the best we have had in years. Perfectly chilled and dressed with nice pieces of anchovy. For our entree we shared the Chicken Parmesan, and it was perfectly cooked and the side of Vodka Sauce Pasta was delicious too. Our meal was so tasty and delivered hot. Since this was a birthday dinner, they offered that we choose any one of their desserts complimentary. What a great touch. We certainly hope to return soon to try some of their other items listed on the menu.

Food: - Flat iron steak: delicious and super tendy with a nice crust. Came with an arugula salad - Fish of the day: today was rock fish with a creamy panang/thai sauce and it was DELICIOUS - Duck: my table's favorite dish. You can make your own tiny tacos and the macha chili was seriously the best thing ever - French fries: nice horsestring fries, cant go wrong - Tuna crudo: super light and citrusy and flavorful, but only like 5-6 pieces - Chicken skewers: this honestly fell really flat. Would not recommend, i'd say it's the worst thing on the menu and surprisingly fell short. Doesnt feel like it belongs on the menu. - Brussel Sprouts: really good and unique with a peanut butter sauce - Mac and cheese: yummy but nothing special Overall was a great experience but I'd probably only come here on special occasions. Their drinks were also fantastic - the cantaloupe was super tasty. Shoutout Ola for being the best waiter!

Went on a quiet Sunday at 6 pm, and the vibe was very relaxed. Staff were friendly and informative,…read moreand they do live music mostly on Fridays and Saturdays (artists are listed on their website). Tom Kha Lins ($18): The standout. A creamy blend of gin, cream of coconut, lime, lemongrass, and red chili oil. Light and refreshing, with a lightly boozy kick at the end. The sweetness builds as it sits, likely from simple syrup. Lamb Meatballs ($15, $12 during happy hour): Moist and very herbaceous, with aggressive gaminess. The tomato sauce is noticeably over-salted, and the pecorino romano gets lost behind the salt, herbs, and meat. 6/10. Paired with the Tom Kha Lins, even the cocktail's sweetness couldn't wash away the sauce's saltiness, so that pairing isn't my favorite. I Got Ube ($12): A fun, unusual take on an ube soda, made with mint syrup, lemon juice, and sparkling water. The ube hits first, then lemony notes that shift into a grape-like flavor, with lots of acid and bubbles throughout. Interesting, but not to my taste. I preferred the Tom Kha Lins. Verdict: Come for the cocktails and the laid-back atmosphere, and time it with the live music. Go easy on the salt if you order the meatballs.

Cold, briny, fresh, with horseradish and mignonette on the side. A glass of white wine next to it and that's a perfect opening. The charred octopus was the standout -- crispy-edged tentacle, tender inside, with a smoky aioli. The whole grilled fish (local mackerel) came out with nicely charred skin and juicy flesh, seasoned simply so the fish does the talking. And the live uni, served in the shell on ice with lemon and crackers. Rich, creamy, straight-up ocean. If you like uni, don't skip it. Drinks held their own too -- two tiki-style cocktails, tropical and ice-cold with pineapple and mint, the kind that look as good as they taste. The bar program is clearly not an afterthought here. Lively room, quick service, and the seafood is clearly the star.

Overall (4.5/5)…read more Crack Shack definitely lived up to the recommendations from my family. The chicken was juicy, the fries were some of the best I've had, and the sides were surprisingly good too. A few minor downsides, but overall a really solid spot. First Impressions (4.5/5) Casual fried chicken spot that focuses on sandwiches, tenders, and comfort food. Definitely worth checking out if you're craving some good chicken. What We Got (5/5) * Firebird Sandwich Combo: Filling, juicy chicken with a good balance of toppings. Surprisingly, it wasn't very spicy, so I wish they let you choose your spice level. * Little Pecker Combo: Chicken tenders that were juicy and not overly breaded. Our order was missing one tender, but they kindly gave us another one. * Fries: Seriously some of the best fries I've ever had. Super crunchy, flavorful, and even better with the sauces. * Biscuits: Moist and covered in delicious garlic butter. Honestly reminds me of Red Lobster biscuits. * BBQ Sauce: Sweet and tangy, and pairs really well with the chicken. Taste and Quality (5/5) The chicken was juicy, flavorful, and not overly breaded. The fries were a huge standout with their crunch and flavor, and the garlic butter biscuits were delicious. The only minor issue was that the sandwich bread got a little crumbly, but the rest of the sandwich held together well. Service (4.5/5) They were kind and accommodating when our tender order was missing a piece, and they quickly made up for it. Space and Atmosphere (3.5/5) The main downside is that the seating is outdoors, which isn't ideal when it's raining. Parking was also limited. They have sauce stations, but since we ordered online for curbside pickup, we didn't get any sauces with our order. Was It Worth It (4.5/5) Definitely worth it for the quality of the chicken, amazing fries, and delicious sides. Just make sure to grab your sauces if you're ordering online. Final Thoughts Definitely one of the better fried chicken spots I've tried. The fries alone are worth mentioning, and the juicy chicken and garlic butter biscuits make it even better. I'd happily come back, preferably when the weather is nicer so I can enjoy the outdoor seating.

Located right next to Juniper & Ivy and opened by the same team, it's the perfect place when you're craving fried chicken in a more laid‑back setting. They're known for their fried chicken, and for good reason -- it's juicy, flavorful, and consistently good. One thing I love is the huge sauce bar, which lets you customize every bite. And don't skip the buns with the sweet butter -- so simple and so good. The space is great for groups and families, with large picnic‑style wooden tables, a bar area facing big screens for sports, and plenty of room to spread out. They also offer fresh‑baked cookies for dessert, which are worth saving a little room for. If you're looking for something on the healthier side, they've got you covered too. I ordered one of the bowls, and it was delicious -- packed with greens, seasoned chicken, pickled onions, egg, and plenty of fresh veggies. Overall, it's a fun, casual spot with great food, lots of seating, and something for everyone. A solid choice whether you're bringing the family, meeting friends, or just craving some really good chicken.
