One of the best things we did on Kauai. Very happy we did this with KA. The kayak was peaceful, the hike was very pleasant, but the waterfall was something else. Our guide Ty was extra friendly and informative throughout the trip. The guide you always want on any trip to make it special. Note the paddle back is into the wind, so be sure to save some energy for that. read more

What an amazing adventure. Levi (pronounced: Leh-Vee) was our tour guide. It started with kayaking, then hiked to the waterfall, hung out for about 45 minutes, hiked back to the kayaks, and then kayaked back. It was a fun adventure. It was a group adventure with other families which also made it fun. I would recommend water shoes for the entire trip since you'll be hiking thru water and jungle. Hiking boots are ideal if you don't mind getting them dunked in the water crossing. Take your time and really take in the scenery. read more

Shoutout Levi! He was an amazing tour guide, singer and storyteller. Appreciated the thoughtfulness of the tour. Had a blast! Would recommend water shoes over hiking boots/shoes as there's lots of walking in the stream. Liked the 8:45am start as you get to the waterfall right at lunch and get back with a decent amount of time to recover the remainder of the day. Liked the snacks and gear they provided. They do have some available for additional purchase like waterproof pouches, shoes, etc. Hydrate and prep for this tour! This journey is not a simple "walk in the park," but would recommend to anyone looking for a memorable adventure. read more

Great tour! This is the second time we took this kayak tour and loved it. Daniel was our guide, he was awesome! I would take the tour again with Daniel. The only thing I can say about taking the hike is to have closed toe water shoes with good soles that have tread. I wore water sandals and it was not the right shoe for the hike. Lots of deep slippery mud. I would take the tour again if I return to Kauai. read more

Trip was great, Daniel the guide was knowledgeable and helpful. Make sure you wear good water shoes, don't use water sandals. The hike back to the falls is very muddy and slippery. read more

Amazing experience! We had such a great time on our kayak tour. Our guide, Levi, was incredibly knowledgeable and made the whole trip both fun and informative. We Had an exceptional time Kayaking, and hiking to Secret Falls. Our Tour guide TYLER was very friendly, knowledgeable, fun, and made the trip a great experience. He was very cautious as we had our 6 year old daughter. He gave us comfort and peace of mind. She LOVED IT! This is our second time with this company, highly recommend and will continue using when coming to Hawai'i. Ali G. read more

From start to finish it was a 100/10 time. Our guide John was very knowledgeable and clear on instructions. We were able to carry our stuff in waterproof bags and they provided a few snacks + water. The kayaking was beautiful and our guide gave us tips if we had trouble. Through our hike it was muddy and fun. The mud and slips we had was well worth the destination. We were able to chill at the falls and it was breathtaking. Such a great time. read more

Tour guide was great. Very knowledgeable regarding kayaking technique and pointed out several interesting points of view along the hike. Just book it, Tyler is awesome and shares an abundance of knowledge and history of the surrounding scenery you'll experience. A+++

There are many tours you can take, but I recommend this one because it is local Hawaiian owned and operated. Our tour guide, LEVI, is a descendent from the Royal family who came from this land and protected it. He was incredible and sang with his ukulele the whole tour. You will have many choices for guides, but two thumbs up for Levi. . read more

Levi was the best guide! He was personable, sang and played the ukulele! The kayaking was easy, but the hike to the falls is difficult in some places. The mud is slippery and walking through the stream, you can't see the bottom so not sure where to step. Lucky my young strong adult kids were with us to give us a hand when needed! The falls are refreshing, but then to have to hike back! read more

Levi is the best tour guide. 5 stars for him. The 4 stars is the condition of the equipment meaning the seats in the kayak, life vests, and wet bags. The seats and vests are well past due for replacement. The wet bag is sour smelling. Therefore you smell sour, bring your own. Included is two water bottle and two small snacks per person. Make sure you bring additional food/lunch. read more

The Best guide Levi.... Hopefully you are blessed to get Levi, He knows everything about the plants trees and Hawaiian culture! He has 1 Aloha! Excellent guided tour with Gabriel. Equipment was good as was the instruction and information about the trip. It's a pretty good workout requiring moderate effort. The kayaking is not bad except the trip back was tiring after our trip out and the hike. The hike to the falls is flat but tricky in a few places and river crossing. I would say moderate difficulty. Wear proper shoes such as keens or other water shoe with closed toes for sure. read more

6 of our group (all 55 and up) joined Erickson for the kayak, secret waterfall guided tour on 5/22/24. What an amazing day! Erickson was so kind and knowledgeable of the flora and fauna that surrounded us on our adventure. He shared cultural history of the area as well as his love for this land. It was a bit challenging crossing the rocky stream, but they had received a lot of rain in the past week so to be expected. I would recommend a walking stick for those crossings to help with balance. We had so much fun and really appreciated the entire experience. It's a must do and we were so fortunate to have Erickson for our guide! read more

When we go on vacation, we try to stay pretty active - Kauaii is great for hiking, biking, kayaking, etc to do this. We booked the Secret Falls tour for one of our days and it was a highlight of our trip. Annie was our guide and she was wonderful - friendly, knowledgeable and funny, she maintained control of our group with a laid back vibe. Weather was great and meetup location was convenient to where we were staying. The kayaking portion was kept at a leisurely pace to enjoy the scenery and allow first-time paddlers to keep up. The hiking portion was not particularly long or strenuous and the trail is fairly well marked. Definitely recommend wearing water shoes or older sneakers you don't mind getting muddy. Annie kept us entertained throughout the tour with cultural info and history details, as well as jokes aplenty. We enjoyed a picnic lunch and a swim at the falls, then turned around and made it back by early afternoon. Pace was manageable for all levels of fitness and price seemed fair. As other reviews mention, it's entirely possible to rent or borrow a kayak and do this route without a tour, but this is the easiest all-inclusive option that both made us feel safest in an unfamiliar area and also got us information about the area and it's significance. This was a fun day for families and couples! read more

I don't know how anyone can rate this tour less than a 5 star event. Maybe they didn't have Levi (pronounced as levy!) for their guide. Levi made this beautiful excursion next level. He shared a little of his Hawaiian heritage through his music - he brought his ukulele along for the hike - and song and he also can talk story with the best of them. Well worth it, and if you can, make sure you get to go with Levi!! read more

My wife and I joined Kayak Adventures for the Secret Falls Tour on 10/24/24. Levi was an excellent guide - possibly the best we have ever had on an excursion. He was very engaged with good instructions and concerned everyone was safe and had a good time. He explained the history and culture very well and included some of his story as well which is also incredible. The location is easy to find. The drive and unloading / loading easy. The kayaking length was perfect and very enjoyable on the river. The hike length also perfect and time at the falls just enough to marvel at God's creation, rest, eat lunch, and be ready for the trip back. A very affordable trip for all we experienced - would highly recommend both Kayak Adventures and Levi! read more

From the text reminder from Madeline to the tour with Nathan, our kayak experience was amazing! We thought the 2 bottles of water/person seemed like a bit much but with all the hiking (albeit light) and kayaking, we ended up needing them! The sandwich and chips were great too, along with the pineapple that Nathan cut up for the group to share at the Secret Waterfall. Nathan was full of cool facts and info about the island, its animals, and its vegetation too. Overall great experience that I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a fun group activity that's good for the whole family (we had teenaged children and older). read more

I would HIGHLY recommend this tour. It was one of our favorite parts of our trip to Hawaii. Our guide, Gabe, was fun and knowledgeable. We learned a lot about the history and plants/trees/birds of the island. My 9yo son went and loved it as well. He had kayaked on a lake before and hikes a little, so I'm sure that helped. But I think this would be doable for most kids his age. A couple tips: * Keen hiking sandals were a must. I saw people with other water shoes that may have worked ok, but sneakers would be a nightmare. * Wear a swimsuit and bring a small towel. The waterfall was cold and we had to swim out to it (the rocks dropped off the way we went out), but it was worth it!!! * Each kayak pair receives a waterproof backpack to bring on the kayak and out to the waterfall. I packed an extra shirt in case we got wet and some sunscreen. The tour provides two bottles of water each (took one each on the hike and left one each on the kayak). Wish we had a small towel to dry off a little after the swim, but we were fine without it. Just wouldn't want the backpack getting heavy. Amazing experience all around. read more

This was the highlight of our trip. We loved kayaking up the beautiful Wailua River with our excellent guide, Levi! He brought so much Hawaiian culture and wonder to the experience. Can't recommend him highly enough. He played the conch shell, sang Hawaiian prayers, and explained ancient and current history of the area. Hiking to the Secret Falls was amazing. A great place for a swim. We do recommend wearing water shoes! We had on our ofoos flip flops and while we love them for walking, they are not for hiking--especially through rivers and across slippery rocks. We will invest in a good pair of water socks for next time. Mahalo! read more

I know I'm in the minority here, but I really had an awful time on this tour. The hike was far from "moderate." It was difficult and at times treacherous with steep inclines. Never ending rocks to navigate while trying not to slip and fall as several people did. I had Ryko water shoes on which were great, but I was going slow because I was so scared of falling and was left behind by the guide. I missed all the stories and by the time my husband and I got to the waterfall the turkey sandwiches we had preordered had been given away and we were handed ham sandwiches and told "sorry" (I couldn't eat the ham sandwich due to religious considerations - so I had nothing to eat other than a few pieces of pineapple). My husband and I headed back before the group to get a head start but sure enough I was left behind again. The guide did come back and walk with us a little and then took off again. We also had an issue on the kayak coming back. My husband's seat would not stay up, making it extremely difficult to navigate. Again we were behind everyone, but the guide saw us struggling and ended up towing us in. I left this tour with a sore knee and a wrenched back from all times I slipped while trying not to fall. So for me, this was a horrible experience. Had I known the true experience level needed for this so called "moderate" hike, I would have never participated in this tour. read more

GPS took us to a different location. Maybe their original place since they have a new location? We had to look up the coconut mall to get accurate directions. We were 15 minutes late, despite leaving with a 45 min buffer (or more time than GPS said it would take) and they already left. We met at the doc being threatened if you miss them tough luck no refunds and the lady on the phone seemed gleeful to do so regardless of circumstances. We barely made it. In a panic we left everything behind. Promised snacks and water we weren't worried. But we were punished. Given nothing. So a 5.5 hour strenuous activity was extremely difficult dehydrated and starving. I highly recommend doing this activity just please pick a different company. Mahalo anyways read more

We had a great time with Kayak Adventures! Gabe was our guide on his first day back from his vacation and he was outstanding. Very fun, interesting, and personable. He kept our group together and shared some great knowledge with us. While kayaking is the main part of it the hike up to the waterfall was absolutely beautiful! I was in awe the entire time of the spectacular tropical forest we were in. Lots of really cool mushrooms as well!! If you have a hard time walking, balancing, or doing small climbs then I would not recommend doing this excursion. One of the people in our group had got their hip replaced a few weeks before our excursion. They were able to do all the hike but had trouble during certain parts and had to go slower than the rest of the group. Make sure to wear shoes with traction! The trail is quite muddy and it can be very slick. read more
