The mahi-mahi was well over cooked and so was my husband's flat head. Both fishes and chips weren't seasoned and the staff were unhappy when we asked for salt. There were no napkins because apparently they'd been flat out the last few days. Mate, I'm the customer. I don't care how your last few days were. Here's an idea - duck into Coles and grab some napkins for your customers? Poor attitude, bad food. Not coming back!

Now it's set a standard for fish and chips so high that it might never be lived up to. The prices are reasonable for the quantity of food you get. We ordered an array of things - crumbed cod which was HUGE and only $6.90, battered snapper which was also a decent portion, 1 of the burgers which was massive too, a serve of calamari which not only tasted great but were cooked to perfection - not even kidding! And then beer battered chips which were super yummy too. The servings were super generous and the food was fantastic! The food was so good and so perfectly cooked that it makes me scared to go to other places in the future - which is inevitable as we're not from here... Just go here when you're in the area. The staff are super friendly too and very honest and generous. I seriously couldn't be happier and I'm a fuss pot when it comes to fish and chips (or food in general).

Last 2 visits all the scallops and chips were undercooked and the the fish was over cooked. Granted it is a busy shop but put the staff on to cope with the load because im not paying $55 for a fish and chips meal that i can get in mooloolaba for half the price and cooked properly. You can take away, or they have places to eat both inside and out, but I normally order from the little area out the back. They also serve alcohol! Their opening hours appear random. I've been there quite late at night and they've been open, they told me they close whenever it gets quiet. Is it the best fish and chip place around? Probably not. But I like it.

I think the service was great but had that been sub par, I would have probably had to give them two stars based on food quality. The prices were quite reasonable and so I ordered the fish and chips excited to try out what makes this join so special. My friend had hers grilled while I had my battered. You can also get it crumbled too. My friend described the fish as "jelly" which is NEVER good. She couldn't eat anymore after a bite and mine was OK. The fish wasn't flaky as I would have liked so I am not sure if we were given the freshest fish of the day. The order comes with heaps of chips so I don't know if the intention is to fill us up on the chips but I came for the fish. They will season your chips if you'd like and also give you two lemon wedges and then tartare sauce. My two other friends ordered the calamari and liked it. I tried another fish and chip shop in Caloundra and it was better than Marsay's so I probably won't come back here. It's too bad because I was really excited to try it out but was disappointed.
