An area that helps the buyer in determining the purchase is the home inspection. We contracted Pacific Inspection Group to help us with the home inspection and lead paint testing. Our decision to go with this company were three fold. The first was the positive reviews on Yelp. The second was their ability to do the certified home inspection and lead paint testing. And third, the quick response and service they provided. They were able to do the home inspection within the timelines. Tom (owner) was quick to answer our many questions. He was able to schedule our inspection within our timeline and assigned Scot who did the inspection of this home. The report was done electronically. It was thorough with descriptors, pictures, and standard grading. The report summarized marginal areas that would need addressing. Pacific Inspection used a systemic approach in their assessment. Scot called me after completing the inspection and went over some of the findings. He also shared the lead paint sampling and where he took them. We received an official home inspection report that evening. The lead paint sampling was sent out to a Pro-Lab site in Texas. That test took about two weeks. We are happy with the service that Tom and Scot at Pacific Inspection Group provided. We would highly recommend them to family and friends who are in need of a home inspection. This is the first time in 30 years that we've run out of water in our cistern which is adjacent to…read moreour house. The catchment water tank at the bottom of our property is totally full but the pump to bring the water uphill to the cistern wasn't working so we ran dry. We're still on a waitlist to get water hauled in by truck; which is VERY very expensive. I found Pacific Blue Catchment on a Google online search; I called and left a voice message explaining the problem. They called back almost immediately and came over within less than an hour! Cory was here for at least 2 hours and could not have been nicer or more helpful. Just such a really nice person and totally genuine. I was dumbfounded; this is the best service I've ever experienced by any company in all my years here on the island. The problem is a multi-faceted one and until we know if we even have electricity working down by the tank, nothing can be fixed. Cory sourced the best Electrician to do this kind of job for us and we hope to meet with him very soon. It's not going to be an easy fix but I have complete and full confidence in Cory to work with us to fix this major problem. Although there could be some other folks who could possibly troubleshoot your problem I personally would not choose anyone other than this company. I am that impressed. Al, the owner, replaced our flat roof (outdoors over our lanai) whose…read moreleaks we lived with for 10 years This is after hiring two different roofers to repair it during those years. We finally realized we needed to replace the original gravel roof of this 4' x 20' area with something better, and Al's quote was more reasonable than another roofing contractor in Kona. Al completed the job after two consecutive days with one of his employees. Ten months later, after a very heavy rain, the outside corner, which had given the trouble before, had leaked. Al responded immediately to my e-mail and came out the next morning to have a look, and came back to repair it within the week. Then, about 6 months after that (over a year since the replacement), it appeared it leaked again. Al responded immediately again with an e-mail and came the following morning to inspect - giving an explanation with both visits as to what he'll do to repair it (adding more water-proofing at the edges, etc). He assured us that his warranty to make it right has no time limit. He came back to make the repair within the week. This morning, after a hard rain the other night and seeing what I THOUGHT was a leak, Al came to inspect it once again, but this time he showed me what to look for in a leak, after having done a water test himself and seeing no symptoms. He ran more water, and asked me to confirm his findings after a certain period had passed. It turns out I had mistaken "cool and damp" for a leak: there was no discoloration of the drywall. This means that Al had fixed the problem the last time (if not before that). The bottom line is, this man knows roofing. He explained various options when we were deciding what to replace it with, he's trustable, dependable, sweet, and he's not expensive. I don't know how many roofers there are in Kona, but I don't think you should hire anyone else. Hawaiian Isle Roofing is a dream contractor.
