I was excited to try Russian style dishes, and we had kebab, dumplings and salad. For drink we had yoghurt drink which tasted pretty good but it was expired way before ling time ago which we didn't notice while drinking. I don't know why they were selling expired items. The food was okay, little bit salty and the salad (cucumber with yogurt) was good. My 3 star is for the drink we had which was expired.

Nothing left. So delicious and marvelous. Reasonable price. Portion size is great. I would highly recommend everyone.

Perhaps the people who have left negative reviews and said the couple that run it are "rude " are just used to the traditional American service where people bend over backwards at your whim and don't accept anything else because I found the couple, while insanely busy, to be kind. They basically do everything themselves so No, they won't be bending and scraping over you. Also be aware everything is made from scratch so don't go expecting a super fast meal. Came with my dad last weekend and shared the dumplings, lula kabob plate and borscht. Everything was FRESH and delicious! No frills set up, very simple but good food and large portions. We will be returning.

Pickled vegetables: pickles, garlic, cabbage. Could use some onions and tomatoes, but good stuff.

Here's the thing--the service is really horrible if you don't speak a language that the owners do (i.e. Russian or Armenian). You will get misunderstood and the language barrier will pose a problem. You won't get refills or babied at your table because that's not the Eastern European way; you order what you want (in a very straight forward manner), you ask for what you want when you want it (e.g. "may I have more water, please?"), and you have to get the attention of your server. Oh well. That's life. Order take out if anything. The food makes this place worth it. It's truly delicious kabob and lula kabob and hummus and potatoes and rice. Mouth-watering, finger-looking authentic cuisine. My mom reminisced about some time she spent in Armenia when she ate here with me. And it's affordable! The two of us had an appetizer, two entrees, and drinks for $25. Very reasonable. Depends on what cuts of meat you get, of course, but I noted that the pork was tender and the chicken was white breast meat. Choice! The pilaf was a very good side, albeit on its own it would've been slightly bland. The vegetable salad was crisp and well-dressed; a nice light accompaniment to the meal. And the hummus...man! A little homemade hummus and lavash and I'm a happy girl. Give it a try! Parking is a bit difficult; their lot only has two spots, but the owner assured me that you can park at the market in the back and have no problems. It's free, but space is limited. The place accepts cash and cards, and as far as I understood there was no minimum charge. Heads up--they only serve bottled water and beverages, so the cost goes up and there are no refills on standard American drinks (cokes, water, etc.). I'd definitely recommend coming here with a Russian or Armenian friend--at least the first time. But if you've got a backbone, give it a go alone and taste how awesome this place is.

Quaint little Mom & Pop operation, serving up Russian Armenian regional dishes. Both husband and wife speak limited English, but try their best to accommodate their customers. Both speak Russian and Armenian. Their xenkhalis are well seasoned, very tasty. Had them plain with black pepper. Since my friend and I couldn't make up our minds for the main course of kababs, we ordered their combination platter for 4 for $50. It came with char grilled pieces of filet mignon, pork loin, lamb chops, and chicken and beef lula kababs. The combination platter came with a generous portion of rice pilaf (though a bit too much on the wet side), as well as a side salad. There was a lot of food, but some of the meats were a tad overcooked, particularly the lamb chops. Everything was well seasoned. Credit cards are accepted here.

    Khinkali! So yummy

This place is great. Is service fantastic? No. But the food more than makes up for it! We entered the restaurant and were asked to confirm that we don't speak any Russian, to the chagrin of our waiter. Then, we were handed a single menu to share between the four of us. Though some would likely complain about this, and I imagine we would had there been a different table in possession of the menu, it added to the charm. Now the important thing-- THE FOOD. So good. So cheap. So filling. We got the greek salad (they gave us a double order when we thought we ordered a single, but we ate most of it regardless), hummus, 6 khinkali, lamb kebab, and beef lula kebab! Everything was good. The greek salad is somewhat atypical and definitely no frills, but well seasoned. The hummus was very standard good hummus. The khinkali were AMAZING, and I would definitely recommend trying. They are filled with some beef and a little broth (my Hong Kong raised Grandfather referred to them as large xiao long bao). Both of the meats were very well seasoned and delicious. With drinks and tip, the meal came to 85 dollars for 4, with plenty of food to take home. Atmosphere is certainly strange (we spent most of the time alone in the dining room, but were checked on enough), and service is not unfriendly but definitely isn't doting. But the food is delicious, and we will definitely return.

I had a huge salad leftover for my work holiday party last night. I was trying to stomach it and force myself to finish eating it. Something was missing from the day old salad, there was a flavor that was really needed. I suddenly remembered the chicken on the salad made it so much better, pretty much elevated it to perfection. I finally figured out what would make it the perfect leftover salad- kabobs! I'm a huge fan of Middle Eastern food- like I can just keep eating and eating. I always imagine myself marrying into a family that loves to celebrate around food. Plus middle eastern men are hot. To the food. I parked on the street outside of Kavkaz. I had called earlier to check on the prices and can confirm the prices on yelp pics are valid. I first originally went inside and seen such a decadent dining room space, very well decorated and packed for efficiency. The tables were beautiful and had arranged lien draping from the inside out. I was instructed that for to-go I had to go around to the side. I went around to side and after the owner (I'm guessing) got off the phone I asked him a few questions. I wanted a pound of kabobs but wanted to try the lulu chicken and lulah beef. I asked if I could do half pound each and said yes. I put in my order and he told me it would be 15 mins. He cooks the food of charcoal grill, fresh right after you order it. 15 mins later, I paid and rushed home trying not to tear into the box while driving to eat it. I got home and loved the presentation and the meat made my mouth water. I enjoyed the lavash bread and onions that came with it. The chicken lulu was so juicy and every time I would cut into it the juice would pop out! The beef was cool, not the best but still very very good. The salad was perfect now- I could take some pickled veggies, kabob, onions, and salad and wrap it bit by bit in lavash- amazing! I happy I found a new place near me to get my fixin'. I don't understand the reviews about being rude! I'm from the East Coast and many times you don't get people being overtly happy to get praise from you. Eat the food, no one's rude, say please and thank you. 4/5 until I try some other things on the menu and also come back a few more times! Thank you Kavkaz

They also always bring out some fresh Russian bread for FREE and they are super giving on the portion. The soup is a 10/10, reminds me of the Hong-Kong style borscht soup. Comforting, healthy, and hearty! The salad is by far the major reason I keep coming back. The dill, fresh tomato slices, salty onion, and cucumber with a little zest is so tasty and again super healthy! The pelmeni and tabaka are classics you can never go wrong with. Dinner and a show!…read more We went to Romanov for a birthday party on a Saturday night. Riding the elevator with another couple, we were asked if we'd been here before, probably because we were not Russian. They said we would be in for a treat. Boy were they right! It is an ornate lounge with chandeliers, live performers, and a dance floor. Apparently, we were told, a very popular place for any celebration by the older Russian generation. It is truly a unique experience, especially for an introvert who loves to stay home. The place was packed with mostly large groups that were ready for a fun night out. The first course/appetizer spread is extensive. Mostly cold dishes from carpaccio and roe to avocado salad and cheese. This is accompanied by soda and vodka. After about an hour, the place gets loud and lively with a mix of traditional Russian songs and classic American. People flock to the dance floor where the lights change color. It felt like a wedding or bar mitzvah reception. Honestly, was so fun to watch the dancing but way too loud to chat with anyone. When everyone needed a break, the second course came out which was home style potatoes and an assortment of grilled meats. These were delicious and more to my taste. Unfortunately, we had to leave around 1015p, but it felt like the majority of the crowd was prepared to stay much longer. Parking is valet but we found a nearby structure at the Bank of America building.
