How time flies! I realize that my husband and I have been patients of Dr. Shaye's for almost 15…read moreyears. Happy to report that we're still here to talk about it. Also happy that the practice is thriving. They recently went through a major remodel / expansion of their office space here in West Hills. Now they have more exam rooms to provide for patient care, plus a larger waiting room. The nurses and front office staff members are universally kind and caring in our experience. Arranging appointments is easy to do. They have a patient portal for accessing medical records / testing results. Dr. Shaye provides medical expertise in a manner that makes us feel confident in his advice. Our last check up went very well and I had a spring in my step when leaving the office. Between Dr. Shaye, Dolly, and the scheduler, we were well cared for in a timely fashion, even late in the day. I barely felt the blood draw and had zero bruising. Wow! The words "care and caring" keep coming up in this review because they are absolutely the right way to describe the experience of being seen at this medical practice.

I find that medical records are incorrectly completed. Staff is not available for questions, appointments, or other necessary office functions. Dr. Lashkari is everything I seek in a treating physician, but his office makes patronizing his practice difficult. I cannot recommend Wellness Oncology.

A TRUE PARTNER IN YOUR CANCER BATTLE - I realize most people won't look for a physician referral on…read moreyelp, but in the event you are reading this, here's what you need to know. Dr. Masterson is the best of the best. When you are with him, you are his only patient. He cares deeply about your health, but also about the psycho-social impact of your cancer journey on your life. He does an excellent job of customizing your treatment to your needs. For example, I wanted to consult a leading specialist in my type of cancer at USC Norris Cancer Center. He was completely open to that and worked cooperatively with that specialist from start to finish. I was able to do chemo in his office, close to home, which made an unbelievable difference to my quality of life. I was a patient with a high level of need for control and Dr. Masterson always took that into account in how he treated me. Always ready to answer my questions (even the hard ones). Always ready to hear what my priorities and goals were. Always interested in my thoughts, feelings, fears. Always professional, never emotionally distant. Will you have to wait to see him? Yes you will. As I said before, when you are with him you are his only patient. His staff does a good job of working with you on the day of your appointment to assess where he is in his schedule. If you give them a call before you leave they can help minimize your wait time. Dr. Masterson is a humble, compassionate, supernaturally gifted practitioner. I had end stage cancer when I met him. I have had "no evidence of disease" since 2006. He and my husband were my partners in every step of that journey. Together, they held me up and kept me going. I doubt I would be here today without them.

Oh, Dr. Masterson, you took care of me at a very vulnerable time in my life and I am forever…read moregrateful. It was actually 10 years ago, and the lessons you taught me about my slightly invasive melanoma are still ones I live by today: get it checked out, don't sit at home and worry. It's about doing whatever you need to do to get back to your life! That goes for any medical worry, not just melanoma. It's also about finding doctors who care and listen, and know their stuff. In my experience, the more compassionate and open a doctor is, the more they actually know. Dr. Masterson and Dr. Kaufman, who referred me to him, are the most compassionate, caring doctors I've ever met. I'm not sure how it is now, but 10 years ago, the office would call you with updates on the day of your appointment as to the actual timing of your appointment. Because Dr. Masterson takes his time with each patient, and books people in the same day if they are worried about something, his schedule is usually a few hours off. Relax, be flexible and know that when he sees you, you will have his full attention for as long as you need it. He is amazing!

I am a cancer survivor, and a family member is currently being treated at COH in Simi Valley. Given…read moremy experience as a survivor, I am extremely pleased with how things are done at COH, from the nurses to doctors to staff, at this facility. Dr. Sabrina A. Matosz is the medical oncologist currently treating my family member at City of Hope for ovarian cancer. She is a really great doctor. She takes a lot of time to go over all treatment information tailored to your health (which is imperative since my family member has a lot of health issues in addition to the cancer, requiring a tailored chemo plan). She is very kind, clear, thorough, and also takes a lot of time to answer your questions! She never makes us feel rushed and spends a lot of time with you, and she takes extra steps if you need additional assistance (like ordering at-home care since my family member needed additional medical monitoring). The online COH medical portal also makes everything super accessible and easy, from seeing test results, to viewing appointments, downloading blood work referrals for Quest, to messaging Dr. Matosz if you have questions, and more. The nurses and staff at COH are also very knowledgable and friendly. They even do a "chemo teaching" session for patients taught by a nurse with the purpose of thoroughly going over all-things chemo to prepare the patient. It was incredibly helpful for my family member, and for those of us caring for her. I got my cancer treatment through UCLA (and I love UCLA) and I did not get any kind of chemo teaching session, so this is a really great service that COH offers. Lastly, there is a welcoming and warm feeling at COH in Simi Valley! Our family is so glad we are with City of Hope and got assigned to Dr. Matosz! My family member is receiving such great care!

My messages go unanswered, both by phone and through my patient portal. Having cancer is hard enough, and now being unseen and unheard in a nationally recognized provider setting, is unacceptable.

From the moment I interacted with her, she was rude, dismissive, and completely lacking in basic professionalism. When I asked a simple question, she actually called it "stupid" to my face -- something I never imagined hearing in a medical setting. At the time, I was under an incredible amount of stress, as my grandfather was battling cancer and in a very fragile condition. Unfortunately, due to what I believe was careless negligence on the part of the office -- including not properly reviewing his records -- his condition became severely worse. This is inexcusable, especially for a medical office where patient care should be the top priority. To make matters worse, after this critical situation arose, my repeated calls and voicemails went unanswered. There was no urgency, no follow-up, and no compassion shown. Lydia's attitude and the office's overall lack of responsibility made an already heartbreaking situation even more traumatic. I hope the management seriously evaluates how they handle both patient records and staff behavior, because no family should have to go through what we did. I will say that there was an elder Asian lady who was a nurse that made the experience with her kindness a bit better for us. She was very caring with her patients.
