It covers the archaeology, anthropology, culture, as well as the history of the island. When I later saw the TV Series 'Chief of War', I really appreciated the series much more than had I not visited the museum first especially the story of Kamehameha in the show who unified the Hawaiian Islands and figures prominently in the museum. You can also tour the museum using augmented reality on your smartphone or tablet, but unfortunately, it wasn't working at the time we visited.

I was impressed. I thought the performers were awesome, especially the fire dancers. Just really awesome and the dancers were enthusiastic which made for a better performance. I thought the audio was a bit off. The volume was crazy loud to fill the huge tent but it was hard to hear the individual voices of the narrators. So maybe something to boost the midrange a bit in the balance of the sound system or whatever. I'm not a sound engineer. So if you're visiting Kauai and are looking for a lu'au, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Kalamaku. I think you'll have a good time.

I feel like if this is your first luau, it's worth the price, but I would not pay the same amount to attend a second time. They have a pretty good variety, and number of vendors stationed in their outdoor area. The items sold range from sweets, to jewelry, to little knick-knacks. It's a pretty good selection of things for people looking to buy gifts to bring back home. The ambiance is very lively and enjoyable however at times it felt a little too lively since there were a good amount of kids running around. It would've been fantastic if there existed the option to attend a child-free luau. How enjoyable the event is would also depend on where people are seated. People on the outskirts of the stage would have a harder time being able to listen and watch the show, while people closer to the stage would have an amazing time. My party got to have both experiences since we were initially seated on the outskirts and were brought closer to the center. It really upgraded the experience. The food was pretty hit or miss. Some of it was pretty good, specially for the catering style service, while other dishes were less than average. The drink options weren't the best. If you've a sweet tooth the open bar would be fantastic, though, as all their options were definitely on the sweet side. It would be nice to be able to opt out of the open bar, or have more options for those that want less sugar with their alcohol. Between all the good and the bad, I think this totals out to a very average luau experience. 3/5

I learned many things and ate tastey food, but the best part was the energy of the morning. The guides were truthful about the struggles the island has and does face due to the legacy of colonialism and aspects of modern tourism, but the existence of the tour is an an encouragement for a better, more sustainable way, both in regard to food systems and tourism. I also enjoyed the afternoon farmer's market with many other local farmers and artists.

Many original pieces of furniture and furnishing are still in their original places. It is a little hard to find but is behind the green church in Hanalei, so just walk from the road across the grass to the white fence. Also, it is only open a few days each week so plan ahead.

They didn't seem to have any understanding of history, or even how their own parents probably grew up. But I digress... The story of the family was very interesting and to see everything kept in such original shape was really cool. I loved the kitchen lady, who told of working their in the 70s and then eventually ending up back there again. Her little cookies were precious and a very pleasant way to end the tour. I have a real interest in historic kitchens and cooking so I was a pig in you-know-what. I took a gajillion pictures because how often do you get a chance to see a place like this?

Aloha Dance Studio has an abundance of options for keiki & adults in their 2 studios including tap, ballet & hip hop. My step-daughter has been enrolled in their youth programs since age 3 (now 5 1/2) starting with the Twinkle Toes class, moving up to Beginning Combo Ballet & Tap & now loving the youth Hip Hop class. She has enjoyed all classes. The staff is very attentive & great with all the diversified youth, pre-teens & young adults. Tiffany utilizes the Art of Dance to facilitate mentorship, confidence building & other life skills to our Kauai youth. The Freaky Fridays during the Halloween season is a MUST for the whole family; check out the Zombies performing Thriller & enjoy treats & games at Kukui Grove. WOW...this place is fun!…read more I'm a keyboard player that hasn't played much in the last few years and when I visited the music studios, I was able to get my hands on a keyboard again. They most serve children and teens but I could PLAY here all day! I highly recommend checking them out for music lessons for kids, and even some adult lessons they offer.

Since the local schools have cut the music programs down to almost non-existance, this is a godsend for the kids on this island. Safe, fun and truly a worthwhile investment for your child.
