I hired this company to replace a side mirror on a vehicle which was to include parts, labor to install, and calibration of the mirror with a built-in lane watch camera. The part was received quickly and car was ready in a timely manner. However, upon personal inspection of the completed job by me, the camera was not calibrated and the main internal display read AIMING NOT COMPLETE on a black screen with no camera image when the camera was activated using the turn sign as it is designed to do. There is not an image on the display screen from the camera. When I inquired to the manager, he did a computer scan and at its conclusion I was told the Honda dealer has to complete the calibration since he could see no other calibrations available to access. Upon returning home, I researched the calibration and found a calibration procedure that instructed the mechanic to access a hidden diagnostic menu by hitting some buttons on the display screen. First, the shop did not research to fully understand the job before quoting it. Second, they delivered the car to me without a quality inspection. This should have been done prior to them calling me to pick up the car. Third, I did get upset and they did refund me the labor on the job which I felt was fair. However, a truly professional response would have been to figure out how to finish this job with 3rd party help if needed (paid by the shop). Now I will complete the job elsewhere. If you are charging professional rates for work, the customer will expect professional work and behavior. When you are wrong, admit it, and do what is needed to fix it for the customer! The technician may have put the manager in an awkward position, but a simple quality check could have prevented a shop problem from being a customer problem. And, the manager is still accountable and so is the owner when someone in the shop does incomplete work. read more
