Ever since my daughter was born I'm all about the pics; she changes so much on a daily basis that I just want to document every second. I take tons of pictures with my not so fancy schmancy cannon camera, but it's hard to get a good pic of a toddler who is always on the move. And so I leave it to the professionals... I saw pics that Shannon had taken of my colleague's niece and nephew. I was in awe of her photography skillz and immediately bookmarked her blog so I'd remember to contact her for Baby R's next photo shoot. And I did just that for a few months later when Baby R was turning 15 months. Shannon informed me that she liked to take pictures in natural light. The Floridian in me was not going to take pictures outside in February so we decided to find another option with natural light: The Garfield Park Conservatory.* The Conservatory proved to be the perfect location for photos and Shannon turned out to be the perfect photographer. She had a great eye for what backgrounds would work in the conservatory, was fun to hang out with for an hour and was great with our little one. At one point she asked if she could take Baby R away from us for a few minutes so she could get a few good shots of her not hanging onto me (we have a bit of a separation anxiety problem). Baby R went with her without even a whimper. My husband turned to me after we gave our baby away and said "how well do you know this photographer?' I replied "not well, but she seems nice and hopefully won't steal our baby." She returned minutes later with our smiling baby...phew! I'm a bit impatient so it's difficult for me to wait a few weeks to see photos so I was psyched to get a sneak peak of our photo shoot just hours after we got home. The six sneak peak photos that Shannon posted on facebook were so incredible that I got at least 20 calls/emails from friends asking about this fabulous photographer. The rest of the 30+ edited images came two weeks later and they were just as incredible. Our session with Shannon cost $200, which included all the edited images. She put them all on shutterfly (makes for easy ordering for the grandparents) and is also sending me a CD in the mail. I called AAA, they gave me Larisa's personal number, she didn't pick it up, I left voice message, no response. i had to contact new broker, payed her, got clearance, and then AAA charged me too, claiming that they cleared cats. you can imagine my anger. In between I had another conversation with AAA, woman was very rude, saying that Larissa is very sick, oh yeah we heard that story. I asked Larissa on email if she was in ER whole day, I don't think so. after all stress they caused me, they had a nerve to charge me. no worries I expressed myself clearly, and most likely will dispute this charge.

The day of our wedding, the videographers were AMAZING and polite. We had them come early to my hotel to film part of that and the first look. The rest of the day, I didn't even notice them filming. I interviewed more than 10 videographers in Chicago to get a sense of whose team fit my needs better, and Turning Point Productions definitely stood out the most for its fair pricing and impeccable work. First of all, this team was always responsive when I had a question or concern. I never met Frank, the editor, or Katie, the studio manager, but they were always available via emails or phone. I talked to Frank many times on the phone before I booked, and he understood exactly what I wanted and what I didn't. He ensured me that there will be no "hand-held effect" in my video, and he was very flexible with my wedding timeline. The team of two videographers arrived on time and dressed appropriately on my wedding day. They were very polite and detail-oriented. They captured all the important moments I requested such as first look with my husband and when my dad put down my blusher before walking me down the aisle etc. For all the fun parts like opening the dance floor, of course they did an amazing job as well. They also filmed in some unexpected angles that ended up making the whole video very touching! Frank is an excellent editor, and I'm not saying this because he did such a wonderful job at editing my video. I was so confident in him and his skills even before booking. His portfolio was very self-explanatory. When I received my trailer just seven days after my wedding, I was so touched by he told the story and all the special moments captured. Even to this day, I don't think I've seen any of my friends who went with other videographers has better wedding videos. The studio manager, Katie, was another wonderful person whom I was so glad to be working with. I communicated with her via emails when I was overseas. She was very responsive, easy to work with and always addressed my questions and concerns 100-percent! All and all, I can't recommend Turning Point Productions enough. Gerry was kind to let my husband come into the store a couple of times to try on the rented pieces with other items he purchased to wear. We were both impressed by the styles they offered, quality of pieces, and pricing. They allowed us to pick up the tux a couple days before the wedding and return it 3 days after.
