For my friend, the stylist suggested she needed a trim to better hold a curl. For me, I was told my ends were dead - even though I got my hair cut by my regular stylist 3 weeks ago. We both said no, and they kept insisting and ultimately shaming us until we agreed. My stylist cut my hair 4 inches. I was in shock. After all that, they didn't even pin us like we asked. It's clear to me they both wanted to upsell us and wouldn't let it go when we initially declined. I'm extremely disappointed and would not recommend.

Great salon and friendly staff…read more We moved from queens and I was looking for a reasonably priced salon! I love my haircut, it feels healthy and full. I called a few places prior to trying Luminous and they charge you for a cut and a blow out is additional! I'm sorry but I think it's ridiculous to charge for a blow out after someone is already paying for a service. But anyway!!! Not the case at luminous, my cut and blow was included with my cut and I found that business practice to be extremely fair! My hair is healthy and I will definitely be giving them more of my business. Thank you Luminous !

I cannot emphasize enough how amazing every single woman who works here is! Jess especially!…read more I have been getting my hair cut, colored, curled, etc. here for almost 2 decades and have never once left disappointed. The entire process from booking to paying is so smooth and the staff could not be more communicative and warm every step of the way. Even when you're not quite exactly sure what you're going for, they will help you determine what you'll like and be honest about how it might look on you. I've only ever had experience where the final product wasn't exactly what I was going for, and Elsa patiently adjusted my hair and touched things up until I was satisfied (even though it was past close!). The salon has a cozy vibe, plays good music, and has magazines for you to peak at while in the waiting area or while products are sitting. DO NOT be afraid to ask for product recommendations either. Intuition doesn't forcefully try to sell you things on the way out like other places, they have genuine recommendations and QUALITY products to help your hair in anyway you may need. I recently have developed curlier hair and Jess has been super helpful in teaching me how to best care for my texture. This upcoming fall they'll be doing the bridal parties hair for my sister's wedding! We love this crew!
