If you are an African American and love your hair do not go to this salon! I am more sad then angry. My hair was so healthy and grew so long and I maintained it with protective styles. They literally burnt my hair off! A month later and my hair is still not back to its regular texture the thickness is gone it's still falling out strands of straight burnt hair everywhere! So today I took my 8 year old for a wash, set and blow dry @ this salon. I was very apprehensive as we had a very bad experience at a local salon where she ended up soaked from her wash and scalp was medium rare from the blowout. Zulecia (I think I spelled that right) was very gentle and did an excellent job. Why 4 stars and not 5? I like fancy salons and this one definitely isn't. As far as their work and pricing goes....5 stars all the way and they're polite as well as accommodating. We will definitely be returning. read more

I unfortunately cannot recommend this salon. I called ahead of time to get an appointment and the phone kept going to a personal voicemail. I ended just walking in and waited an hour to get my hair done. While waiting, the stylists were speaking in Spanish about how hungry they were. After it was finally my turn, I started with getting my hair washed. While my hair was drying under the warmer my stylist left to pick up her lunch and ate in the room behind me. I offered to let the warmer restart after it finished but she said not to. I ended up just sitting there waiting for her to finish her lunch. She blew out my hair and used an iron to curl my ends. My hair smelled SO burned afterwards and the curls even flattened out by the end of the day!! The price was pretty good (about $25) which is why I came in the first place. The worst part about my whole experience is that the ends of my hair that were curled literally came out in the shower for the next month. 3 to 4-inch pieces of my hair just continued coming out. It was depressing. I would have gotten the damaged hair cut off, but I just had my hair cut 2 weeks prior to getting my hair blown out here. My hair still smelled burned for about 2 weeks after getting it done despite double and triple washing it just to get the smell out. I'm saddened that a hair stylist can't even discern how to treat different types of hair. In summary, getting my hair done here was a waste of time and money. read more

This place was fantastic! I have been looking for a good salon for African American hair on Long Island that doesn't cost a fortune and this is it. The girls are absolutely lovely and speak fluent English. It was my first time there and they were welcoming, kind, friendly and were very helpful. This salon is a no fancy place. But the service and the price is great! I used to go to hairsay salon to get a $60 rip off for a haircut. I paid $20 here and got an absolutely gorgeous haircut. Excellent Salon! They did an excellent (formaldehyde free) Keratin treatment and patiently educated me on it before they did it. They also gave me great advice on post hair care. I love my hair because it is easier to manage and still healthy. I do not apply heat to it - maybe just a few times per year. Post care for Keratin testaments are important and avoiding direct heat is one of them. Folks complain of hair fallout after Keratin but possibly because they are using heat on a regular basis and they may not be deep conditioning. I wash and deep condition weekly with sodium free products (sodium strips the Keratin) then I do a LOC method to wear my hair out or do twists or do bantu knots to naturally curl the hair. Keeping the hair hydrated - daily with liquid oil spritz is a good practice. I highly recommend getting this treatment done only if you commit to taking care of your hair afterwards. Their application of the Keratin left my hair basically with an even loose curl throughout - I do notice a few areas (in the back) less loose but the difference is very small. One other fact is that I entered the salon with a full head of natural hair and it was healthy as I do not apply heat to my hair. Starting with healthy hair is important too. IF you get a Keratin, I recommend you do a chop of any dead or lifeless hair and start fresh. These girls are professionals and know what they are doing. They were a Godsend! read more
