Disclaimer: This is just my experience with Kathleen and other people have their own experiences. I saw Kathleen for months and I just switched therapists recently because of many reasons.
The entire time I saw her, she would say her (usually negative) opinions on me even if they were incorrect, and she wouldn't listen to my side of the situation. She told me many times that I have anorexia when in reality I didn't. When I told her I didn't have it she said "You don't have to think you're anorexic to actually be anorexic."
But that's not even the worst of it. My last session we were talking about my anger issues and PTSD and she said "Your mom is going to evict you from your house and when you get evicted, you're going to play the victim role, because I know you love doing that." Implying that I am not a real victim (even though I am- I've been physically and emotionally abused in my past) or that I made myself a victim. At this point I got very angry and yelled at her (which I admit I shouldn't have done). She came up to me and grabbed my arm without my consent.
Later, I texted her and asked her about what she said, and one of the things she responded with was "You want to be a victim." And I sarcastically replied with "Oh yeah, I really want to be a victim. I love having the flashbacks and the anger and the depression..." After I texted that, one of the things she replied with was "I don't think you want to be a victim (never said that)" As you can see she clearly contradicted herself. I have screenshots of the conversation. If you want to see them you can email me at christianacody15@gmail.com
Anyway, my point is, in my opinion, Kathleen didn't help me. She actually made me much angrier and more hurt than I was before I started seeing her. She is disrespectful and very arrogant. She thinks she is always right and those are not the qualities you want in a therapist. She hurt my feelings, and I am still working on getting over it. read more
