I am a cancer survivor and current cancer patient. My mom had skin cancer. My longtime dermatologist retired, and I sought reviews for a competent doctor, one that takes their time and is meticulous and detailed. This doctor was recommended. She seems to have experience and good credentials. There are a few areas of concern on my skin, and given my many diagnoses, I am anxious when I go to any doctor. First, she was very quick. I think the whole exam took 5 minutes. She didn't seem concerned about my health history. She didn't ask what meds I was on or prior meds, one which heightens your risk of skin cancer. She didn't even look at the back of my legs or move my underwear. She commented on my prior tanning in my youth and gave me the customary talk about using sun screen. I brought up the areas of concern, but she wasn't interested, and kind of blew them off, no explaination. One area is prevalent on my face. As for the staff, they are young and neutral, no care. I have seen many doctors due to my health history, this is one I would never recommend. I will notify my insurance company about my visit as this was my annual, and I need to have another competent doctor re-do the exam.

The only thing of concern she said to me during the exam was that she can tell I had used a tanning bed in my earlier years and so I'm a greater risk yet still only quickly glanced over my skin and told me I don't need to have another dermatologist appointment for atleast 5 years. I called the office manager, Nancy, to share my disappointment and ask for another appointment with a different doctor. The one star in this review is for Nancy, otherwise I would have given zero stars. Nancy was prompt, friendly, and tried to find a solution. When I was speaking with Nancy she read Dr.Almeida's appointment notes back to me where she said she examined the palms of my hands, my head, amongst other places. This is inaccurate as she did not do these things. I was offered another appointment with Dr. Almeida. I asked to meet with another doctor and the request was denied. I will be taking my business elsewhere. She does not deserve payment for the "examination" that gives her the "doctor" title.

I went to see him about bumps on my forehead and nose, my complaints about which were dismissed by other dermatologists who told me it was nothing. After looking at the bumps and listening to my description of the symptoms, Dr. Torres said, "That is not nothing." He performed a biopsy - he was right. I had subcutaneous t-cell lymphoma - cancer. I will always credit him with saving my life. I see Dr. Torres at least once a year for a screening, more often when I have bumps that need to be biopsied, in addition to other dermatological concerns. I have always found him and his staff to be warm and compassionate. I do not trust any another dermatologist. The office is conveniently located and it is usually peaceful and calm. Although, during my recent visit, there were 9 people sitting in the waiting room and only 3 of us were actual patients. One person and his wife arrived fighting and complaining. That ended by the flinging of a clipboard across the room and a rant laced with profanities. I witnessed a full-on temper tantrum by a grown human. The matter of their outburst was the patient's fault, not the practice's. The office manager didn't skip a beat as she ensured that the other patients and the receptionist were safe. None of this is typical for this office.

He always starts off by asking you what you'll like to get done and then he gives you an honest professional opinion based on what he sees and what can benefit you. I have gotten several procedures done with Dr. Kaplan and quite honestly he is the only doctor I trust with my face. Dr. Kaplan's procedures and treatments on my face have been subtle with a rejuvenated glow! I always tell him "don't make me look crazy" lol of course he never does!
