Had a hankering for a good burger. We were staying in Cross Lanes for the weekend and 2 places came up as local favorites for burgers. Katherine's was the one we chose and didn't regret it. Stopped Katherine's Cafe for lunch on a trip from Ohio to North Carolina this week, found it on Yelp when I was looking for a spot to stop and have a late breakfast/early lunch and a adult beverage. I would call it more of a local bar than a Café, that said the staff was friendly dining room and facilities clean. We sat at the bar for lunch and Michele the bartender took good care of us. I had the Philly cheesesteak and onion rings and Kathy had the special of the day which was fish and chips with hush puppies, slaw and homemade tartar sauce. All was good, reasonably priced. If you're ever driving down Route 35 and go through Nitro West Virginia it's worth a stop! read more

I placed a carry out order for 3 English hot dogs and a side of macaroni salad at about 12:35 Friday afternoon January 30. I finally got my order at 1:25. Shame on me for not checking it before leaving. When I got home I had 2 English hot dogs, 1 regular hot dog and a container of barely warm french fries. Very good and very filling. Nice chili. Very beefy. Pleasant aroma. Could have used a little more slaw. The slaw was good. Nice and sweet. Tasty wieners. Definitely all-beef. I used the coupon. $8.20 for two dogs, onion rings, and a drink. Very nice waitress too. Very friendly staff. Everyone there told me to have a good day when I left. Have ate there twice now, average bar food at best. Slow service and more attentive to the gambling machines.

I came up with pretty high expectations since everyone at my office goes there every few weeks. Unfortunately, their fryer was down, eliminating almost half of their menu items. I ended up getting a burger with a pack of commercially purchased chips. The burger itself was a bit over cooked and dry, and the drinks were all served with cans. The service was quick and attentive, so we'll probably try it again in the future, hoping for the rest of the menu to be available, but wasn't left with a massive hurry to return. The place was clean and otherwise friendly, so no glaring issues, just wasn't the greatest experience our trip in. If we do make it back in and have a much more positive experience, I'll update this review accordingly. I really want these local places to succeed, but just needed more from here. read more

Tony and I have stopped when in the area several times. I normally come here for the Hot dogs but unfortunately learned they don't sell them anymore. Apparently Todd sold to his daughter and she took them off the menu. Place is dark, needs more lights and windows and revamped. They are trying to upscale the menu when they need to upscale the decor. We got the pretzel bites and beer cheese pretty good. Tony got a Pabst, myself a soda. Will we go back? Yeah if in the area. Will I go back on purpose...not since they stopped serving hot dogs!!!! read more

Food was what I expected in a bar. Service was adequate, only because they had a couple of guys move to another table so they could get my husband's wheelchair to a table. The ambiance was typical for a small bar. I would have to say that it was a bit better than what was in the building previously. read more

We stopped in for the hot dog, that was reported to be one of the best in West Virginia. We were not disappointed. Overall, it is one of the top 10 hot dogs in West Virginia thus far. We are still hitting up hot dog stands to find the best. read more

A local nitro hidden gem don't have a lot of beer variety mostly the common beers but the wait staff are quick and attentive and the food is delicious some nights it's packed depending on the different tournaments but during the day or early evening you want some good homemade food definitely try it out. read more

Had the grandchildren for the day so decided to call and order for pickup. The grandson raved about his pulled pork sandwich, granddaughter thought her hamburger was delicious. I ordered the Philly cheesesteak with onion rings. Both were absolutely delicious! The only reason I gave 4 stars out of 5 is that they don't offer delivery. I live in a senior apartment complex with 70 apartments (Village On Park) located within 5-7 minutes of Kathryn's but many of us are disabled, in wheelchairs or on walkers and can't manage the short trek to pickup so delivery would definitely attract more customers. I hope they'll seriously consider offering delivery in a limited area. read more

My husband and I stopped in for lunch today, 11/9/19. I ordered the two eggs scrambled, bacon, toast and breakfast potatoes. I asked for the bacon to be limp/chewy and that is EXACTLY how Mike the cook fixed it. The eggs were light and fluffy. Not flat and folded over like many places serve them. And everything was hot and delicious. My husband ordered a hot bologna sandwich. He asked for BBQ sauce instead of the spicy sauce and that was not a problem. He said it was a sweet and tasty BBQ sauce. We will definitely be back. A very pleasant place to have a meal. read more

Katherine's has the best burgers anywhere. My favorite is the Boomtown Burger, and my spouse always gets the Station 81. The quality is consistent, and the atmosphere and staff are friendly and inviting. You cannot go wrong here. This is a bar, so no one under 21 is allowed in. No children. The burgers are as good, no better than advertised! Got mine with two patties, cheese, egg an' jalapeño peppers! They have most of the traditional toppings...i.e. lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions, ketchup an' mustard. I also ordered a hotdog with everything and it was awesome too! The fries were great as well. The food came out fast and hot! The burger was made with fresh, not frozen ground beef. It was flavorful, super juicy an' messy (that's a good thing). The hotdog was pretty standard, but that's not a knock. A fairly normal construction of a WV hotdog with an average wiener, homemade chili, homemade coleslaw, onions an' mustard. All components were very good an' made for an awesome dog. Both the hamburger an' hotdog bun were what ya would get from the bread aisle at a grocery store. It didn't take away from either the burger or dog though. The fries were good an' hot an' as the guy that was with me said, "it's hard to mess up fries"... I agree.
