I've tried Yoga at several studios, never content with what I find. The practice itself has always held my interest, but the teachers I meet are just not what I'm looking for. After so many months of searching, I find Kate. All I can say is that I am soooo lucky to have found her. I've been going to Kate's for about 2 months now. She is a gem. The class is very personal. She only allows 5 students per class. She is very patient, and very warm. read more

Kate is a exceptional teacher with great skills. She focuses on technique and alignment which is important in preventing/protecting injuries. As students, we benefit from her zest for learning & the tips she brings back from her ongoing con education courses. Her voice is confident, yet soothing -- helps you get through those "shaky" leg moments. Love the modern studio and the loft boutique upstairs. Great way to spend an evening/afternoon - Kate Yoga + cute restaurants = Downtown Monrovia read more

Two years ago, my Kate Yoga review started with, "Kate may well be the best teacher of ANY subject with whom I've had the pleasure to learn - and I'm 62." I'm now 64 and, thanks to Kate, have the strength and flexibility of a much younger man. I take both private classes and group classes, with each having its particular benefit to my well-being. Kate costs just a little more than the typical yoga studio - and the experience is priceless. Also, men and women, you need to ask Kate about her expertise with Essential Oils and, in particular, the oils that enhance your natural pheramones in a very lovely way :-) If you want yoga adapted to your body, to any injuries you may have had, to your overall level of conditioning, try a class or three with Kate. It's a decision you won't regret. read more

If you are new to yoga, this is where you want to get your start! Or, if you are new and still have to look around class to see what Viparita Karani means. Kate guided me through my tender, beginning yoga years and now I feel confident when I take from any teacher, no matter how little instruction they offer. Learning from her was a real investment in my health that I am thankful for every single day. read more

Kate Hillman is one of the best yoga teachers I've ever worked with. She's calm, patient, friendly, knows her stuff and is *very* attentive to her students' needs. Her classes have a five student limit, which means there's time and space for her to adjust students so they're holding the poses the right way. She's also really attuned to students' physical needs and limitations and is happy to adapt poses -- and sometimes classes -- depending on them. I started taking Kate's classes after my little sister died in 2007. Kate really helped me through the hardest time of my life, providing guidance and helping me find some relief from the pain I was experiencing. I moved away from Monrovia almost a year-and-a-half ago, but I still go back as regularly as I can to attend Kate's classes. It's well worth the drive. I haven't found any teachers close to home that are anywhere near as good as she is. Last fall I signed up for a day of yoga in Monrovia Canyon Park that Kate offers twice a year It was fantastic, rejuvenating and so much fun. I highly recommend signing up for next spring's session if you can make it. read more

Kate is awesome! Her yoga classes are top notch. I love the one day yoga retreats she puts on in the mountains. She also is now giving great DoTerra Essential Oil seminars. A few years ago I had a private consultation with Kate regarding my family member who was dealing with breast cancer. Kate gave me her undivided attention and consulted on the right oils to help my aunt to support her treatment and chemotherapy. I was amazed at how much relief my aunt felt with the oils. Kate cares about her students and it's one of the reasons that after six years of knowing her I feel happy to write this! read more

Kate-yoga is not your average yoga studio it is a place that can change your life if you are ready and willing. 3 years ago a friend recommend Kate to me and being new to yoga I was slightly hesitant but the idea of doing a private session where I could focus on learning the basics was appealing. I have learned the basics of yoga with a supportive teacher but the reason I gave her 5 stars is due to her workshops and personal coaching. Kate's sage advice, open heart, and guidance have taken me on a journey of personal transformation. I am not the same person who walked through her door years ago ( physically, mentally, or spiritually). Deciding to work with Kate has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. read more

I feel so fortunate to have found Kate. I had been having some health and physical issues and decided to give yoga therapy a try, almost as a last resort. I'm so glad I did. I was a complete novice when I started and Kate set out to make me comfortable from the very beginning. I feel like we have made great progress and many of the health issues I came with have gone away. Relaxation has become much easier for me. Kate is warm, personable, understanding and non-judgmental, it seems she only wants you to feel better. I would recommend her to anyone without reservation. Lynne Palmer read more

I have studied yoga for about 15 years with various teachers. I have known Kate for about 11 of those 15 years. She is yogaish but still very professional. Her studio is always clean and organized. Kate is the best teacher in identifying problems with the body and the poise for addressing that problem. Kate is also excellent at observing my practice and keeping me out of trouble with poses that I should not be forcing. Whenever I do yoga, where ever I do yoga, I use Kate's instructions as the foundation for my practice. Kate's private sessions are particularly useful and very helpful when I have an ailment. She helped my 80+ year old mother with her breathing and relaxation. She also has very informative and beneficial retreats and workshops at her studio and other locations, like Monrovia Canyon. Highly recommended. read more

Kate has an amazing ability to know just what you need to rejuvenate and enliven your mind, body & soul. In individual sessions, she can personalize your yoga experience to your specific needs on any given day. As a beginner, she takes me through asanas that match my energy and ability levels, ending up with meditative, restful poses that focus on the breath. I find I can use the breathing to refresh my spirit anytime, anyplace: in the car, in the middle of a business meeting, anywhere. My wife, who is more advanced in yoga than I am, has been thrilled with how Kate can help challenge, deepen, and expand her practice. I am also interested in applying yogic philosophy in my personal life. Kate's insights have helped me transform challenging relationships into affirming ones by "speaking light to light." I leave each session feeling well nourished in mind, body, and spirit. read more

Kate Yoga offers you one of the most unique experiences in taking yoga. The classes are kept small so that Kate is able to customize the class based on the students' needs. She pays great attention to your particular body's strengths and weaknesses so that you can access the most out of each pose. I love beginning and ending each class with mindful breathing that both centers me and allows me to stay present with myself and others throughout the day. Kate's knowledge, warmth, and sensitivity make me feel safe and I always feel inspired to come back and learn more from her. Kate's long time study of the yoga tradition comes out in the integrity of her work and the students she teaches, who embody what they are taught. No other yoga studio that I have found gives you such a well balanced and integrative practice. read more

So glad I got a chance to stop by Kate Yoga today! I heard about an Essential Oils workshop Kate was hosting at the studio today and decided to drop by! I have been to several yoga classes at my college where instructors would rub essential oils on our feet during shavasna (corpse pose) but never understood the importance or benefit of the oils. Luckily, after Kate's class today, I now know! Kate herself is very warm, welcoming and a wealth of information when it comes to holistic remedies and essential oils. She taught me how to use essential oil blends with lavender, peppermint, orange, etc. for things like managing anxiety or relaxing. I am a full time college student and I've been prescribed several medications for managing stress and anxiety, but after today I feel more comfortable using essential oils for handling stress and anxiety. After the workshop, Kate showed us a catalog of oils that she sells through doterra and even gave us a free Wild Orange essential oil! Thanks Kate! Check out her doterra website to order items like essential oils: http://www.mydoterra.com/kateyoga/#/ The studio itself, although small, is clean and inviting. I've been to several studios that are cluttered or smell sweaty, but this studio is so pristine! Kate even told us she uses all natural bug spray (aka Peppermint spray!) to keep stray ants away so her clients can comfortably do yoga on the floor! If you're looking for a place to unwind and practice yoga without judgement, come check out Kate Yoga! Located in the heart of Old Town Monrovia and there is a small parking lot in the back of the studio! read more

When I was diagnosed with Meniere's Disease a couple of years ago, it was suggested that I try yoga. Well after having several orthopaedic surgeries, I did not think I was a likely candidate for yoga until I met Kate. Kate is a wonderful teacher and has been able to tailor make my workouts around my limitations. Her soothing and yet confident voice allows me to relax and feel confident that I am not going to cause myself injury. I have worked out all my life having been an athlete but I have never looked forward to my workouts like I do with Kate. The additional energy and wonderful sense of serenity are wonderful side effects of a great workout! read more

so grateful to have found Kate Yoga. When I first started,I was recovering from severe injuries:could not drive, heavily dependent on walker. Kate's knowledge of anatomy, yoga and willingness to adapt program to my needs was wonderful. I walk independently, easy hiking when I can, back to teaching elementary school and training to become a therapeutic horse instructor. Still use yoga regular;y. Thanks Kate Yoga!!! read more

I had been really stressed for a while when a friend of mine gave me a gift certificate to one of Kate's yoga classes. I had tried yoga in the past and did not like it, but as a courtesy to my friend, I attended one of Kate's yoga classes. It was absolutely fantastic! Kate was such a patient and caring yoga guide that I immediately felt comfortable, and with just one class, I felt the therapeutic benefits. Getting to know Kate was an unexpected wonderful gift because she offers much more than "just yoga"; she offers incredible personal growth seminars to help improve other areas of one's life. I also had experienced several unfulfilling relationships, so I took Kate's relationship seminar. Her insights helped me to understand some of the things I was doing wrong, not only in my romantic relationships, but all my relationships: family, friends, co-workers, etc. In addition, I attended the Seven Legged Table seminar which delved into my relationship to other parts of my life: nature, community, life style, etc. It is amazing how my quality of life improved with Kate's heartfelt guidance which is based on simple, effective yoga principles. I highly recommend Kate's Yoga to anyone who wishes to live a happy, more rewarding life! read more

I attended a women's conference earlier this year and attended a class that was being taught be Kate. I didn't expect much as the class was on breathing and ho doesn't already know how to breath. Well was I surprised! I left the class with a lot of good/useful information, a few essential oil samples and a desire to learn more. Since the conference, my sister and I found Kate at her Monrovia studio and have taken some of her classes and works shops. I have found Kate to be a thorough, caring and knowledgeable teacher and I highly recommend her. I have also become very involved with essential oils which have truly changed my life and I don't know anyone who knows as much as Kate does about the oils. I have to say, I feel better today than I have in a very long time and I am so glad that I took that class at the conference and met Kate. I can't say enough nice things about Kate and her new space! I've been following Kate around to different yoga studios for several years and now she has her own studio that is wonderfully warm and welcoming. Kate really gets to know her students and their goals and limitations. She's a great teacher, now in a fabulous new space! read more

I came to the U.S. a few years ago from Canada and into a very stressful situation. I ate my way through my problems. I had been doing yoga off and on for years before but now, with the added weight, I found it difficult to do the poses. I went to Kate's studio after several years of not doing anything. She recommends having a private session with her for your first class to assess you and help you. Well worth it. She even gives you a recorded CD of your session so you can practice at home. She has definitely helped me to love yoga again! She focuses very much on it being therapeutic and rejuvinating. Her knowledge is amazing as well as she offers "extra" types of classes to incorporate yoga into all aspects of your life. The classes are so intimate and small - not common at all in most yoga studios - so I always feel I get personalized attention. The poses are for everyone no matter what your size or experience level and she will address your specific concerns that day in that class. I can't tell you the number of times I have come into class with some pain somewhere that I have had all day only to have it gone within the hour. She has the cutest studio in the heart of downtown Monrovia with no problems for parking. Her integrity, patience, and honesty are wonderful. read more

I have been practicing yoga with Kate for the past year and I can say that this has been a really amazing experience. Kate Yoga has given me the ability to fully relax, feel energized and refreshed after every practice. I never thought that yoga would become so important in my life and that I would actually crave going to class because I know that I will feel so good after. Kate is so patient and explains the poses and adapts them to your level if necessary (which in my case I need). I feel like I have private sessions every time I attend class. I love the passion Kate has for teaching yoga! read more

I find it difficult to commit to yoga when i am alone; I struggle to discipline that noise in my head that interrupts my peace. I like Kate's blend of intention, stillness and methodical movement. I was especially impressed with the results from Kate's Yoga Relationship Class. That title caught my eye. I didn't know there was such a thing or what to expect. I had spent the previous year stewing over a personal disappointment and needed to let it go, but how? The class was a small enough at her studio to make it easy to share our thoughts and questions. Kate listens intently and her responses to questions are personal, sensitive and knowledgeable. I readily absorbed her observations and sorted through my options. They matched my intuition and intention about a resolve. Eventually my opportunity to resolve the conflict came in an unexpected meeting. The tone of the conversation was forgiving. A relationship was saved and past hurts dissolved. Thank you Kate for helping people move forward in every way. read more

I have been a student of Kate's for seven years. I have followed her because I always feel great after her classes. I have never gotten injured with Kate, unlike some other classes I have taken. She continually educates herself on anatomy, sutras, and all-things-yoga, so that she can pass on to her students the highest that there is to give. Her teaching spirit is generous and warm and positive. If you have been thinking about trying yoga, or have not ever found that "right" teacher for you, I urge you to try Kate Yoga. My husband and I started our yoga journey with Kate early last year, and we found out yoga experience at Kate Yoga is totally different than we usually understand. We like the idea of private lesson, and our weekly lesson with Kate always starts with a conversation about our week, physical and mental feelings, and more. The lessons are always customized based on our personal needs, and we really enjoy the relaxing and peaceful space at Kate Yoga. I keep the voice recordings from the lessons, and I can easily practice at home. The breathing techniques and yoga nidra are helpful for stress relief and insomnia. Kate is not only knowledgeable in yoga, but also a great mentor in many more fields: healthy diets, lifestyles, essential oils, relationships... Our lifestyles have changed so much after we met Kate, and I can definitely feel the differences before and after. There are a lot more to talk about this amazing lady. I hope more and more people can know Kate and get healthier. read more
