Very nice little place. Great price and clean. I work nights and sleep days. Not always easy in a motel. This place was perfect!

I love the 19th century feel. Did not love the nonexisting wifi - I had to go down to the living room to get any semblance of connection, but my room was up top with zero service. Not the quietest place but I've had worse. The weird part - for the cheaper rooms there's a shared bathroom. Fine, it's an old house. But the other person didn't lock the door. Didn't notice the "VACANT" when you walked in, eh? Well you sure noticed me! I hightailed it back, heard that person rush back to their room, and the bathroom was all set for my shower. Unforgettable is a positive thing, right? Can't really speak to the hotel staff as they were never present - just had my key at the front desk and name/room number. Anyone could walk in there and take a key and a room - until the person whose room it was supposed to be walks in and doesn't have a key. Not great, but at least the room locks! Oh, and my room had a reclining rocking-couch. I kid you not. I wanted to sit down and I had to jam a fireplace log under it so I could sit without it rocking all over the place. (I wanted to try to sit down with wifi. That wasn't happening.) Verdict: If you need to stay in Lincoln, I don't want to be too harsh with my star rating. It's not a terrible place, it's just very much walk-in-and-sleep. Nothing else to recommend for it.

This review is of the bistro, not the hotel-…read more I had hoped to enjoy a nice lunch at a locally-owned business instead of going to a drive through or national chain; what I had was a master class in poor customer service and mediocre to awful food. We ordered fish and chips, and scallops - both arrived significantly over breaded and overcooked. I turned the scallops back before the dish touched the table and the waitress immediately said, "because they're burnt?"...so she already knew that they should not have been served. And unless the cook was fully and totally untrained, they also knew it when they plated the meal and tried to foist it off on me. The haddock in the other meal was also overcooked - my husband was hungry enough that he elected to pick off the (heavy and too-dark) breading and just eat the fish. The quality of the haddock under the breading was fine, but it's too bad it was so unappealing as it was prepared. I was polite, I said I didn't want a replacement nor anything else. I also tipped our waitress more than 20%. I like to think that is a decent way to handle such a situation. I wish the staff had been equally civil. And now what follows is where poor food preparation/presentation moved into pathetic service. The manager (?) then came out to the table immediately adjacent to ours to ask how that customer's food was and when that customer said his sandwich was good, the manager then very loudly replied "oh thank you for the compliment!" while giving us the side-eye. Passive-aggressive to the max. If you think he was professional enough to address us and apologize that we were dissatisfied or ask for a way to make it better, or even to toss out an insincere sorry-you-feel-that-way kind of apology, you would be sadly mistaken. I'm sorry that the gentleman wasn't professional enough to try to salvage our experience because now instead of a poor meal/kitchen mistake, it was compounded into a rude, childish and passive-aggressive interaction that has ensured that we will never return and made me want to do this negative public review instead of having a brief interaction on-the-spot. (And in case anyone thinks this is some snotty condescending tourist- I'm from Maine and have family and friends in the area and I always embrace local and humble. But rude and dismissive is not the right vibe to set in a service industry.)

I am definitely (hopefully) staying here again- if work sends me back to Maine! The staff are…read moreincredibly pleasant, the rooms are reasonably well kept, and the restaurant is amazing.
