The rooms were recently renovated nicely, including a nice flat-screen TV with Netflix and plenty of charging stations. It was pouring rain most of the weekend so we didn't get to enjoy the lake but it looked pretty.

Basically the only bar in town, Melba's attracts all the locals, making it an amazing location for people watching. Walking in the first two things that I noticed were 1) I I was perfectly dressed in my jean shorts and UMass sweatshirt, falling somewhere in the middle of the sprectrum, between men in t-shirts with no sleeves and 50-70 year old women in beedazled tanks 2) loud and awesome country music was pouring out from the back of the bar. Plopping ourselves down on high top chairs in front of the stage, we sat and watched as a massive man (we're talking Paul Bunnion) in full country gear belted out request after request. On the dance floor we got to see line dancing, slow dancing, and older people dancing inappropriately to slow songs.....it was quite the experience. The only reason Melba's loses a star is because of the women's bath room: 2 toilets, no stalls, no lock. But, drinks are cheap and the atmosphere is unique, so if you have a good girl friend to stand outside the restroom door, arms crossed, body guard style, definitely head up to Melba Mae's.

Their lack of remorse or suitable amends will deter me from ever booking a property with them again. Make sure you do your homework, research the property thoroughly and read all the fine print before engaging them. I know, avoiding problems is literally the best reason you use a rental company, but didn't work out so well for us. At least I booked through Airbnb and may just have some recourse yet.

The WiFi connection was flawless which isn;t usually the case anywhere else we've stayed. We primarily snowshoed a few mountains but also spent half a day in nearby Lake George. The scenery was great and we would definitely come again. Safety: The motel and property are located down a decently long private road so it felt extremely safe. The presence of staff was also a nice assurance. Walkability: The surrounding property is beautiful and has enough to do & see that you don't NEED to go anywhere else while you stay.

I saw Gennesis and Genny Light (!?!), Michelob, Miller, Yuengling and even a couple Molson choices. I liked this place already. I searched for almost 3 weeks for a place that allowed dogs near Lake George and honestly could not find much which was surprising. I found a few places that allowed dogs but they had so many rules and regulations if wasn't worth the hassle. Then I finally found Hide-A-Way! From the moment I called them to make a reservation it was so easy and everyone I dealt with was SO helpful and friendly. I booked the reservation with Pete. He was amazing. Made the process so simple. I put down a $100 dollar deposit and they give you the option to either pay the remaining balance when you check in or send a check. We decided to just pay the rest when we got there. My friends and I rented the SummerHaven cottage for one night. It was $283 for one night during "off season." That price includes the pet fee as well. (The pet fee is $25 per pet, per night). We had 2 dogs that stayed with us. Honestly, it's not a bad price and it was SO WORTH IT. We checked in with Kelly and she was a doll and sooo easy to get along with! The SummerHaven cottage is SO NICE. When you walk in there is a cute living room with a tv, pull out sofa bed and rocking chair. If you go to the left there's a small room with a bunk bed. The bathroom is huge. There's a full kitchen with a big refrigerator, stove, microwave, Keurig, and dishes. The master bedroom is in the very back of the cottage with a HUGE king size bed and huge windows overlooking the road + lake. When we arrived me grabbed the kayaks (which you have unlimited use of with no extra charge) and headed out on the lake! The lake is a decent size and is pretty clean. We had a blast. After hanging out on the lake all day we went to the pavilion and played ping pong and volleyball!! They also have a jungle gym on the property for young kids. At night we had a huge bonfire (the SummerHaven cottage includes your own personal grill, bonfire pit, outdoor patio set with chairs, and a picnic table). You can also purchase firewood up at the office!! All in all, my friends and I will be making a few more trips up here this summer! We're going to do an annual camping trip here from now on.
