After months of treatment, we were unexpectedly informed that we owed a significant balance for prior sessions. What was most concerning, however, was how our family was treated during a mental health crisis. On the same day I received a billing message, I called the office because my older daughter had expressed thoughts of harming herself. As a parent, this was one of the most frightening situations I have ever faced. Instead of receiving compassion, guidance, or concern for her well-being, I was told that the practice could not help us because of an outstanding balance associated with my younger daughter. To make matters worse, after a single discussion regarding the balance, I received communication that immediately referenced legal action and attorneys. At a time when my family was dealing with a child's mental health crisis, the focus seemed to be entirely on collecting money rather than providing support or demonstrating concern for patient well-being. The lack of empathy and professionalism was shocking. There was no effort to provide resources, offer guidance, or show concern for a child in crisis. The conversation focused on billing while my family was facing a mental health emergency. Mental health providers work with vulnerable patients and families who are often experiencing some of the most difficult moments of their lives. I expected compassion, understanding, and professionalism. Unfortunately, that was not our experience. Families seeking mental health care deserve a practice that prioritizes patient well-being, communicates clearly about financial matters, and responds with empathy during times of crisis. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend this practice.

I see a therapist named Kristin every few weeks to assist with my eating disorder recovery, and I love working with her. I feel like I am treated with respect and care every time I attend a session, and get what I need emotionally.

When we called to make my daughter's appointment we were told they took our insurance so we made 2 appointments. (One for that week and one for the following week for my daughter ) my daughter had her first appointment and all was well. Then a few days before her 2nd appointment, we received a phone call from Lifestance informing us that they don't take our insurance. The gentleman told us in person out of pocket was $50.00. When I asked about telehealth, he was unsure of the price and said he would get back to us with a good faith estimate. (We didn't hear anything) then the morning of her 2nd appointment she signed into her patient portal and there is a bill for $975.00. Let me just reinerate that she has only been to ONE appointment. So obviously, we called them. We were told it was that much because Shanda Higgins prescribed medication to my daughter, which is a blatant lie. She's not licensed to do so( picture attached)& my daughter gets her medication from her primary doctor. Then we were told that the therapy appointment went over by 10 mins so we were charged another full appointment. That falls onto Ms.Higgins. I have NEVER been to a therapist who isn't paying attention to the time. That's their job. I have been to REAL therapists where it's $150 out of pocket for a 1 hour session. Nothing was resolved. The customer service is a joke. This company takes advantage and scams vulnerable people in need of mental health services. Disgusting! Complete SCAM! I will be reporting this company and I will make sure everyone is aware on all social media platforms as well.
