    Chicken Tikka Masala

Went to Kashmir for the first time for lunch yesterday. The place smells amazing as soon as you get within 30 yards of the building! I ordered samosas, garlic nan, chicken tikka, and my friend got the butter chicken. Everything was delicious. I do wish they had fountain sodas, but I'm sure I saved a few bucks drinking water. The service was fine and the staff was friendly. I'll definitely be back to try the cheesy nan!

Another great experience at Kashmir. I brought my father into town and wanted to live up to his Indian food expectation. He only has experience with frozen Indian food meals, so getting it fresh was exciting for him. The lamb korma was very tender and flavorful. I think it has become our new dish to order. Per usual the Naan bread is a must, it just soaks the sauces up so well and truly completes the meal. I wish there was some music or a tv to make noise in the restaurant. However the staff are friendly!

It was a busy Saturday night. Took about 20 minutes to get seats. Lots of phone orders. Sit back relax and enjoy the smells of India ...the good ones ! Waiter was attentive. Food took some time to come as well. We order chicken tika saag and I got lamb vindaloo. Garlic naan plus cheese naan. Somoasa! Everything is on point

Solid delivery experience. Every time I travel to a new city I have to order Indian food from a mom and pop spot once I get settled into wherever I'm staying. This time, I tried Kashmir. Of course, I checked Yelp first and their 200+ reviews and option to order right off Yelp, made it a quick decision. 45 minutes later it was delivered to my hotel and I was excited to get right to it. It was a Monday and Monday night football was on. My team was playing. Anyhoo, my bubble burst when a few minutes into the first quarter I discovered that my food didn't come with any utensils even though I specifically asked for them. Now you're probably saying, "Jayme, it's Indian food, eat with your hands." And I'll tell you straight up, I really tried. The way the food was packaged made it difficult, but after finally tracking down a fork, I was ready to dive in. The samosas were great, pretty big, and the tamarind sauce was a nice contrast. The naan was alright, but nothing special. The navratan korma, it was the star of the show. Super flavor, great variety of veggies (it's a vegetarian dish), and the sauce was super creamy. That's the one dish I attempt to try everywhere and when compared to the many I've had, this one wasn't too bad at all. In a nutshell, Kashmir was definitely worth a try. If there's a next time, I would pick it up instead. I have a feeling the naan would have been better.

I am a big fan of Indian food and have never had a meal I didn't like! I usually get the lamb saag but really anything is good. I also got the chicken pakora. And the prices are reasonable. It is a small place though but they have great service!

Really good food. My husband and I are in Louisville for the weekend. We found this place and decided to give it a go. We thought there was a lunch buffet. They no longer have a buffet. We shared the non veg assorted appetizers (so yum) and the Special Thali. My husband also had a mango lassi. The food was excellent. The house made onion chutney and the tamarind chutney were both fabulous. All of the bites on the appetizer platter was great. The thali was wonderful. The dal makhni was especially delicious. The restaurant is in what was once a house. It's not fancy, but the food is SO good!! A couple of other highlights for me are the fish pakora and the lamb curry...wow

Kashmir was a decent spot. I had the lamb korma with naan, and had some of the non-vegetarian platter and butter chicken from my friend as well. My lamb korma tasted great and I really enjoyed it. The non-vegetarian platter was good, but a little dry. However, the butter chicken was quite salty. All in all, it seems that these dishes might be hit or miss. The environment was alright. It was cool to see the culture of India in paintings placed along the walls. There was ample seating even for large groups. Unfortunately, Kashmir does not serve unlimited rice, so if you're a big eater like I am, you might need to order more rice. All in all, it was a decent place!

Out of the handful of Indian places I've been to in the Louisville area, I think after trying this one it's my favorite. This is an interesting place. If you aren't looking in the right direction, you can easily pass it up as it is a repurposed 1 story home. This really gives it an intimate feel. Not fancy by any means. Clean and proper enough to be a fine place. The food itself was fantastic. I ordered a serving of tikka masala (medium heat). The portion was fine and the food was fresh The service was also fantastic. They were always around for refills whenever you needed it . I will definitely be back!

    CHICKEN KORMA AND SAMOSA

Often, I eat a meal and I'm immediately inspired to write a review. Other times, something becomes so familiar, it hardly seems notable. I guess the opposite is true. If I don't tire of a thing, EVER, it must be special. I ordered Kashmir when I was pregnant, or sick, or whenever and I think I've failed to mention it...despite having continued to eat it weekly for as long as I can remember. Maybe it isn't as obvious as it feels, but Kashmir Indian Restaurant is about as consistent as comfort food can get. It's as sure as tomato soup and grilled cheese on a rainy afternoon. Tonight, I had chicken korma, vegetable samosas, and cheese naan. The picture below is a half order of each. If you're a carryout junkie and love a bargain, Kashmir is for you. My plate is exactly half our order. So, the price is about $30 for two including a tip. I've gotten this meal through third party delivery services, but most often my husband picks it up. It's a pretty big deal to be able to say a place never disappoints after so many orders, but that's how I feel about Kashmir. If you hate spicy altogether, this review probably isn't for you. Even a mild order has some spice. They offer a lot of vegetarian options. Although there are very few foods that aren't really up my alley, I'll admit that lamb is a bit gamy for me. That being said, I do love a gyro, or minced lamb in a samosa, but lamb entrees usually aren't for me. My husband prefers a protein, so we tend to get chicken and most often opt for the meat samosas. Chicken saag, the korma, the tikki masala, those are all at the top of my list. Maybe depending on my mood, but probably in that order. If you're thinking you should give Indian food a try, Kashmir is solid. I love it when it's cold outside. When it's raining. When I'm sick. It got me through a couple pregnancies. When I've needed comfort food, Kashmir has delivered. I wish I could speak on it's ambiance, but I have literally never stepped foot in the place. (Hi, Kashmir! It's the wife of "pickup order for Kyle" here! Thanks for dinner tonight! We'll see ya next week.)

The buffet wasn't huge, and she let me know right away that almost all the food was spicy. I had my daughters with me, who don't handle a lot of spice well. I told her we would try it, and she offered to make them a few extra dishes. I thanked her, but told her not to trouble herself. The girls did try the food, but ended up eating mostly rice and a little bread. (Picky, but they tried some new things.) When I went to pay, the owner only charged me for my meal! She said the girls didn't eat much. Even so, they used silverware, dishes, took up space, etc. I really appreciated her kindness and wanted to spread the word about this underrated restaurant. I really enjoyed the food, and I will go back soon!

It was time to try something new and different and Hurry For Curry fit the bill as it somewhat a new restaurant. I gravitate to mom and pop restaurants as the recipes usually come from long held family and regional cooking. Damn, did I luck out -- they serve both Nepali and Tibeten regional cuisine! Sitting at the bar, I was immediately provided 2 , yes 2 menus -- one Nepalian, the other Tibetan. Not wanting to miss out something delicious and wanting to try something new, I tend to over order and want to try everything as well as explore the menu. With 2 separate regional cuisine on 2 on 2 different menus, where does one start? -- Dall, garlic nann, chicken curry are the typical dishes to make a comparison against your other go to restaurant. I was surprised by my wife's excuberent reaction to the chatpata and paji and Inhave to admit I had the same reaction to the chartpata spice, burn and texture. The paji? "Oh, we're ordering this again! What is it?" She doesn't venture from her usual "go to" dishes so I was happy she added 2 new dishes to he repertoire. In respect to the dall, she was first skeptical of the fall because it had large beans rather then a typical small lentils but, WOW, we were quick converts! I do like my NYTimes dall but this style is new different take for us that we will re-order again. I like to try dishes I never had before and was not disappointed with the pork curry -- totally surprised me as the pork pieces were grilled, and not in a curry sauce. Again, a surprising WOW! The garlic nann -- I never had such good nann. I can go on-- and will with our next visit. Sorry no pics-- devoured it.

On the Indian side, the butter chicken and tikka masala were decent, but the gravy in both could have used more spices (not heat spice, but flavor spice) and less garlic- They were a little too garlic forward. The naan was probably not fresh made and seems like it was probably premade / frozen and fried in butter in a pan to reheat, which was kind of a bummer, but still tasted pretty good. The owner was there and served us. She's a super nice lady. All-in-all, I would definitely return, but just a little tweaking / increasing of the spices (read: not heat spices) and garlic amount in the Indian gravies as well as finding a way to make the naan from scratch in house would make all the difference and bring it up to 5 stars.
