Courtesy Chevrolet

Recently, I bought a car at Courtesy Chevrolet. As part of that process, they encouraged me to give…read morethem a try for my first service appointment. Well last week, it was time for that. I made an online appointment. It couldn't have been easier. There is no way I could have forgotten about this appointment. They must have texted or emailed me 5 times in between the time I made my appointment and the date of my service. So of course I missed my appointment. Hahaha just kidding...I was there right on time. I pulled into the service lane and Aubrey was out to greet me before I even had the car in park. He went over my needs and gave me an estimate for the amount of time it would take. You guys....he tole me an hour to an hour and a half and my car was done in 50 minutes. Aubrey went over everything that was checked on with my car and he made sure I knew what to focus on with their print out. I was very impressed with this visit. The waiting room was small and clean with WiFi, a tv, and a coffee machine. They took really good care of me. This place is a hidden gem!

I normally don't leave reviews, but my experience with Courtesy Chevrolet was extremely…read morefrustrating. My car was there for about a month, and most of that time was spent supposedly diagnosing the issue. After a month of waiting, I was originally told the car would be ready by Friday, then they pushed it back to "early next week" because the technician and apprentice needed more time. It ended up not being finished until the end of the week instead. What makes this even worse is that after all that waiting, the original problem with my car still isn't fixed. Waiting that long just to get the car back with the same issue is unacceptable. Communication was inconsistent throughout the process, and the constant delays made the experience even more stressful. I understand repairs can take time, but customers should at least receive accurate timelines and quality work the first time around. Very disappointed with the overall service.

Brown since it was the closest dealership in my area, and that's where I met Joseph Bates. Right from the start, Joseph was professional, personable, and easy to talk to. Throughout the entire process he has been nothing but kind, honest, and trustworthy. He treated me like a friend and treated my truck as if it were his own. He helped me from beginning to end and made sure every issue was addressed. Another person who deserves major recognition is Charley, the technician who worked on my truck. Charley was incredibly honest, knowledgeable, and determined to get my truck running in top shape. After bringing the truck in multiple times, he could tell how frustrated I was, and he made it his mission to make sure my truck would run better than ever. Joseph Bates and Charley -- thank you both so much for your patience, your hard work, and your dedication to helping me through this. I'm genuinely grateful I met you both, and you absolutely deserve recognition for the way you take care of your customers.

Today, May 17th, I went to Marvin K. Brown GMC, and from the start, it was one of the worst…read moredealership experiences I have ever had. I stood outside in the parking lot for about 10 minutes, and no one came to greet me or ask if I needed help. I then walked inside the showroom floor, and two employees made eye contact with me from their offices and still did not acknowledge me at all. I went back outside and waited until I finally found someone. That person was already helping another customer, so he contacted someone else to assist me. Eventually, I received help and test drove the 2026 GMC Sierra 1500 TurboMax. Honestly, I loved the truck. It was exactly what I was looking for, and I was genuinely interested in purchasing it that same day. However, once we got to the numbers, everything changed. I made it clear from the beginning that I was a cash buyer. Compared to other dealerships, they were only discounting about $4,000 off MSRP, which already was not very competitive. I understand that GMC is currently offering strong Memorial Day incentives on the GMC Sierra lineup, including the $3,500 trade-in assistance and other rebates. However, those incentives are being offered across the board at multiple GMC dealerships, so that is not something unique to this dealership. The main difference came down to the actual dealer discount. Other dealerships are discounting these trucks by $7,000 to $7,500 before incentives, which made this deal much less attractive. Then I noticed an accessory fee of $2,290 added to the invoice without any real explanation of what it even included. The biggest red flag was the $5,495 service contract they added without me ever asking for it. From what I understand, that was an extended warranty. In the 15 vehicles I have purchased over the years, I have never bought an extended warranty because I usually trade in or get rid of my vehicles before they even reach 50,000 miles. There was no reason for that to automatically be added. On top of that, I had my 2021 Lexus IS350 F Sport with only 25,000 miles appraised at another GMC dealership just three days ago, and they offered me $39,000 for it. Since then, I have only driven the vehicle about 35 more miles. This dealership only offered me $35,000, which was a $4,000 difference and honestly felt like a very bad lowball offer. Obviously, I was not going to accept that deal. The only reason I did not already purchase a GMC Sierra at the other dealership was because they did not have the color I wanted. Otherwise, I would have already bought the truck at Honor GMC. Overall, the entire process felt full of hidden fees, lack of transparency, and pressure tactics. It honestly gave me a really bad feeling throughout the deal. If I could rate this experience a negative 1, I would. I was honestly disappointed because, living in San Diego, I wanted to support a local dealership and buy the truck here. Unfortunately, because of this experience, I will now most likely have to drive to Tustin GMC or somewhere in Orange County, where I have consistently had much better experiences and pricing. It sucks having to take my business somewhere else, but if it is going to save me money and provide a more transparent buying experience, then why not? I just wish the customer service, honesty, and transparency had been much better because I truly wanted to buy this vehicle today.

I've purchased 4 vehicles from Art so far, and without exception, my experiences with his service…read morehave been excellent. Working with Art is like having an industry insider working for you. Actually, that's exactly what happens. I consulted with him on what type of truck to buy for a particular towing situation; on what type of car to get for the new driver in our family; about lease vs purchase options when an SUV lease was up; and again when I knew exactly what vehicle I wanted, and just needed to find the best deal ASAP. I always felt like I got great advice, exactly the right vehicle, and at an excellent price. Of course I am happy to save the time and hassle of going into dealerships, by using Art's oh-so-convenient service. But what I value the most is that, because he's a broker and not beholden to any particular automaker or dealership, I know he's giving me unbiased information. I was a little hesitant to use Art's service the first time, because I'd never used an auto broker before, and I didn't really understand how it worked. But as you can tell, I am now a raving fan. He can get any vehicle, any brand. He helps figure out what best suits my needs of the moment -- and I love that there's no reason not to lay all my cards on the table when talking with them, because he's working FOR me. Using Art doesn't cost anything extra (he gets paid by whichever dealer has the best vehicle for my situation), and I save so much time and hassle by using him rather than going to dealerships, that the choice to work with him is really a no brainer. And the peace of mind is...priceless.
