Mike was able to identify the source of our Wrangler oil leak right away. Although we had to wait a few days to be scheduled for service, they provided an accurate estimate and were able to fix the problem as promised. Our car was held hostage for a "diagnostic" charge of $249.50. It was a starter, which my husband told Mike, the service manager when he first spoke with him on the phone. How did we come to this conclusion? My husband bought a brand-new battery before we brought the car in. According to Google, it could only have been two things. Mike tried to say it took an hour and a half to diagnose the car. Seriously, if that is the case, they truly have incompetent mechanics working there. They are in way over their heads when it comes to European cars, and they muddle their way through repairs. This is the THIRD time we have used KARS and have been screwed over by diagnostic charges all three times. They are super shady when it comes to the diagnostic charges. Their charges are all over the place, with no set pricing. Another thing, most ETHICAL mechanics will apply the diagnostic fee to the repair. There is so much to this story that I am not going to go into, let us just say customer service, integrity, and knowledge of European cars is NOT their strong suit. I have no problem paying for services rendered, but this unethical business does not deserve one penny of our hard-earned money. I am filing a complaint with the state of Georgia for Unfair and Deceptive Acts and Practices Statutes, as they are in violation. I will also be reporting them to the BBB. Just because they work on the Gilmer County Police cars, does not mean they are ABOVE the law. KARS IS THE EPITOME OF OVER PROMISING AND UNDER DELIVERING!!! The new mechanic, which is a complete ROCKSTAR, only charged us $499 for the new starter, KARS wanted almost $800. read more

After spending thousands of dollars replacing parts at another mechanic shop this place was able to fix our problem with the $90 part. They knew immediately why the engine kept cutting out and instead of throwing expensive parts out it they were honest it did not overcharge us. read more

Came to town on vacation and had some issues with our Honda CRV where even the dealership we bought it from misdiagnosed the problem. While it was a little costly to get fixed, but cheaper than back home, the CRV is running better now than when we purchased it. I took my wife's vehicle to Kars on the recommendation of Absolute Best Tire. After a couple of days, they completed the work, and my wife drove the car back home. As she pulled into the driveway she heard a loud clicking sound. She rolled the car back and forth and I heard it too - it sounded like something rattling around in the wheel. I took the wheel off to see if anything was obviously loose and the gold axel nut was completely off and sitting in the bottom of the rim. It had apparently either spun off during the drive home and had not been tightened or it had not been put back on at all. We called Kars and they said to put the nut back on as best we could (as I don't have a socket to fit it) and drive it back. When I arrived, I told Janice, the owner, about the situation. Not only was she completely unapologetic, she scolded me for taking the wheel off saying , "I wish you hadn't taken it apart." I replied, "Taken what apart? I just took the tire off to look. Should I have not touched it and had it towed back here instead?" Had I just driven it back, I may have lost the nut completely and done more damage. I can't believe that a business that made such a huge mistake would be so rude in addressing that mistake. The technician who tightened the nut did apologize, but the owner said nothing else and stormed off in a huff. This type of thing happens, but the rudeness in addressing the situation was utterly shocking. Revised 4/8 - Apparently Janice is following the reviews closely as she called less than 24 hours after my post to apologize - profusely. I will consider her for future business. read more

We took an older Rodeo SUV truck to Kars. It is a 1996 low mileage vehicle, (79,0000, with a beautiful, like-new finish.) The vehicle would not start; the starter was clearly bad. So we paid to have it towed in. They kept the car for a week. The mechanic, Don, told us the whole thing, to get the car running well would be about $900.00. They replaced the starter and a few other things and we went to pick up the Rodeo. The mechanic, Don, came from the garage area to process our payment. He told us that the car was ready to go and running well. A couple days later the car would not start at all. We called them and they told us that we would have to pay for another towing, more diagnostics and whatever further repair costs there would be. We told them that we didn't think that we should have to pay any more costs since Don assured us that the car was ready and working well. Don the mechanic became extremely rude and sarcastic. So now we are out the $900.00 and the vehicle will not even start! I would go anywhere but to Kars in the future. My opinion: Do yourself a favor and stay away from this small mom and pop automotive repair place. They are answerable to no one. And, in this case they clearly don't care. read more
