Our situation is a little complicated: we have two indoor cats and a couple of outdoor neighborhood cats we help to care for. Each time, Michele consistently arrived in the early evenings so they could all stay on schedule. She followed our rather detailed "system" for feeding them, checking their water, and cleaning the litter pans for the indoor ones. She managed to get pictures of even the most shy, elusive ones (both indoor and out) and routinely provided updates to assure us that all was well. She brought in the mail and cultivated a warm and caring relationship with both our cats and us. We felt perfectly comfortable with leaving our pets in her capable hands while away. We have also found her to be available and willing even when we've had to contact her on short notice. She is a treasure, and we're glad we found her!

Recently I was thinking about boarding at Halo House again for spring break, but the lady who called to confirm had a huge attitude bc in her notes it says my dog was aggressive and showed teeth. This was news to me. She also gave me an attitude about not adding "extras" and just an exit bath. She went on to say they,d have to call in the groomer bc of the size of my dog. (He's 40lbds.)But her foul attitude made me cancel. This past week we planned a summer vacation, and unfortunately none of my trusted Rover sitters were available. So I decided to try Halo again. I picked up my dog today and as I'm putting on his harness he was very noticeable thinner, (he was only there for 6days) and what's more he seemed to have lost his voice. Why did I just pay for all those extras like one on one time if they weren't actually going to care for animals? NEVER AGAIN!!!! If anyone has recommendations of another boarding place let me know.

I have a lot of experience with dog rescue, and I often adopt dogs with special needs. I have a dog that has obviously experienced some trauma around other dogs, and Erika has been incredibly helpful. She is generous with her knowledge and her time, she has lots of training tools like handouts and videos, and she is a delightful person in general. Great sense of humor, and it feels warm and fuzzy to work with her, which is so nice because often when we have problematic dogs, we don't feel good about it and we blame ourselves. When I rescued my 3-year old Dachshund-Chihuahua mix, Erika and John were so helpful with his adjustment to his new home. They have given me excellent advice on how to help Lou eat his food (I was surprised dogs needed help with that, but Erika and John knew all about it), as well as identify stress signals and certain behaviors to look out for - things I didn't realize were so important until now. We started out with basic "sit" and "down", progressed to "stay" and "bed". They helped me train Louie to not pull on our walks, as he was never properly walked before we adopted him, so this was a challenge. They even helped me with tips for brushing his teeth!! Our dogs can be quite challenging as they don't all get along with eachother but Amy takes it all in stride. The first time we booked Amy, one of the dogs had an unplanned surgery a few days prior to our trip. Our dog Nugget had staples keeping her surgery site closed and she was on pain meds and antibiotics. Nugget needed to be kept separate from the others and was essentially on bedrest. Amy did a fabulous job with Nugget! Nugget's staples all remained intact and Amy was completely comfortable giving Nugget her daily meds. Amy took great care of all the animals both times. What did we like? Facility - We were looking for a place with an area outside that has actual grass and the other kind they can still play on that doesn't get them all muddy. The other daycare and boarding places didn't have much room for pups to run around or it was just a warehouse and no grass. I swear my dog held his pee until we picked him up and walked him to the grass. This place has lots of room to run around and make them tired! They've got separate indoor areas for doggies that either need a break, a nap or just wants to sit up front with the staff. Staff - The staff is amazing!! They do get to know your dog because they are all animal lovers and they know their behaviors! It's so nice when we walk in and they're already greeting Chewy by name. He loves walking in here, he knows as soon as we turn into the parking lot and just pulls us right inside! It seems they always have fun working there and there's always a celebration, like a doggy birthday or pajama theme day or something. Fun staff for sure! Pricing - very affordable! They do half days and full days. The boarding at night is well priced as well.. and we know our Chewy will be able to run around and play during the day. Grooming - they do grooming, baths and nail trimming too! Cons Only thing i was concerned about in the beginning was not any staff present at night time when you board your dog overnight... but the staff reassured us there are alarms and systems in place where staff would be readily available if needed.
