First off - let me start off by saying I never met once Dr. Karlene. I've been to this place 4 times just this YEAR, each time I waited at least an hour to be seen except for one time (which was 45 minutes). The first time I was seen, I waited OVER an hour just to be called back. My appointment time was 4:30 -- I didn't leave that office until 7pm and they close at 6!!! I wasn't called back until almost 6pm. The scheduling is horrible. I specifically asked them what appt time is best for not having to wait hours to be seen.. I was told after lunch at 1... I was just there yesterday for an appointment at 1:15 -- wasn't called back till after 2 and the lobby was full of about 8 other people waiting. Let's not forget the sewage smell from the plumbing that happened as well while I was there. It smelled like ripped A**! I had to spray my perfume before an PA assistant came out with Febreeze and explained what was going on - it was their sinks.. gross.. I had 2 tests for fungus and which the assistant could "swear on her life it's fungus" and yet the test came back as "trauma and shoes"???? That makes NO sense. I work from home.. I barely wear shoes... then they did a biopsy on me in which came back "allergies" -- yet they couldn't explain what I'm allergic too or why I'm not getting any better and I've seen them 4 times now. Then they had the nerve to ask me to call when another "bite" comes up, don't itch it, and they'd do another biopsy. For what? A no answer result? I don't need to be cut open and sewed again for no answers. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE. The PAs do not know what they are doing. I'm going back to my old dermatologist, it's a drive but it's worth it. The only positive review I have is for the assistant - she's blonde and young. She did the MOST there. Thank you for being the only good part of that office. UPDATE: I went to my old dermatologist - it is indeed fungus that I have, and it is so far deep that no amount of "anti fungal" OTC nail gel would work (this ridiculous office advised kerasal which I've been using for months and it's worse). I was prescribed a strong lamisil oral medication which will take 6 months to fully grow out and heal. The other diagnosis which was allergies? Lichen Planus. I was prescribed a cream and within literally TWO uses -- I'm already seeing results. Also, they did a scrape biopsy instead of a "punch hole" biopsy and I'd recommend that, as the one performed on me in this office left a horrible scar. read more

Since this is a specialist office, I knew I would have to wait for a while, but I feel that 1 hour 45 mins is a bit excessive! Especially after I was told multiple times by the receptionist that I would be next when multiple people were taken back before me. The waiting room is jam packed and freezing cold despite being 40 degrees outside. Once I was taken back to an examination room, I waited another 30 mins to be seen by the practitioner. A couple nurses/MA's came in to see me but only to ask me the same questions that was on my intake form...to which I gave the same response I had written. The doctor wasn't there that day, so I saw the PA instead. She was knowledgeable and I feel like she gave me some treatment options I didn't consider before. Overall, a decent experience with the provider but a very poor experience with the office. A total time of 3 hours was spent for what should have been a 15-30 min appointment. read more

The wait here is ridiculous, they overbook on purpose and don't care if you wait two hours. I highly recommend not going to this place.

Ok you walk into the waiting room at Karlene Dermatology and it is so full that there are NO seats available. People are sitting behind the counter on office chairs and standing outside waiting to be called. After waiting for an hour and fifteen minutes I finally get called back to and examination room. I asked the nurse if it is usually like this. Her reply was "Yeah we see over 120 patients a day" So that justifies over booking? Bad office management? My nurse was rude and short. Showed up late for my examination and I had to wait for her to finish talking with other staff before she got my file updated so that I could leave. Dr. Kevin Gaffney was professional and friendly. The building was clean and well maintained. While waiting for my file to arrive at the front desk I again asked if this was normal. The girl told me that, "Yes, yes it was and that as the day progresses it gets much worse." I do not understand Medical Offices that disrespect their clients to the point of overbooking. read more

I love both Dr Karlene and Dr Gaffney. They always make you feel comfortable and never treat your concerns as stupid or unwarranted. I just spoke to the office manager, Wanda, over a presription problem and she was WONDERFUL! Friendly and more then willing to correct the issue. Great Office! read more

The wait is WORTH IT! Dr. Karlene and Dr. Gaffney are the best Dermatologists I have ever crossed paths with. They truly care about their patients, and I enjoy every single visit. The office is absolutely beautiful, and I love the whole entire staff. read more

Well we finally got hit with the ridiculous wait time people have talked about. Now, first I must say that Dr. Haley, who we WERE seeing, has apparently left which sucks because we loved her. So it went like this: got to our appointment for 1:15 about five minutes early. Sat down and waited. And waited. STILL WAITING. I questioned the front desk after an hour and was told they were "short staffed" and would get us in as fast as they could (we drive well over an hour to get there so had already invested in a two hour drive and an hour wait). In my world, you start calling patients to reschedule when staff doesn't come in... at least... all my other doctors have To their credit the nurses were nice, patient with my intense frustration, and very apologetic. They FINALLY got us into a room about 2:45. Dr. Karlene appeared after ANOTHER half hour, and it was obvious to my daughter and I that he didn't give a damn about our waste of time. He tossed out a "sorry, we're short staffed and very busy". He came off as rude... kind of "how dare you be ANGRY that you had to wait for me" (because I had let him know EXACTLY but politely how pissed off I was), answered our questions with a "why are you bothering me with this and wasting my time" tone, stayed less than ten minutes, and was done. Results of the visit: Nothing! "Well, just keep doing what you're doing." We were checked out by 3:30. The lead nurse gave me a "no wait time" card for our next visit. Next visit? Seriously? What next visit? Even if we DID use it -- which I assure you we will never bother doing -- it would screw over the people waiting on that day! read more
