I already wrote a review on their website and it disappeared. I didn't want to write this review but I feel it's important for people who love their pets. We brought our seventeen year old papillon for two days last weekend to Karla's Pet Rendezvous. Our first impression was great. They were very friendly and they said they were waiting for us. Someone took our dog right away and said she would be with her. The woman at the desk received our dog's bag and started taking notes of everything we needed with respect to feeding our dog. We gave her a new bag of very special food and explained how to serve it. We told her also that we left a can of food, only in case of need. She was saying yes to everything. I wonder if she actually wrote it down. Two days later we returned for our dog. We were very concerned to find out if she ate well. She usually doesn't eat well when we are not around and that's why we brought in the special food. To our surprise, they said she ate well. We also asked if she was taken out to the bathroom recently. She said about an hour ago. Our dog was crying from the moment she saw us, which was also unusual but we thought she really missed us. We left, thinking everything was fine. We took her outside and she peed immediately for a long time. She doesn't do this unless she hasn't been out for hours. I was already disappointed but I didn't say anything and left. Our dog kept crying in the car, which it's also strange. I gave her a treat and she devoured it. And wanted more. I told my husband, our dog seems very hungry which it's very unusual since it was about 3 in the afternoon and she doesn't eat dinner until after 6. We stopped to feed her. The first thing we found was the bag of the special foods that was not even open. We served it immediately and our dog was really starving. They didn't even opened it! We found the can food that was open and they used only a little bit. We were so upset. Our dog ate and stopped crying. The next day I called the pet boarding place and they dismissed me. They said it was an accident. I felt really bad to have left my dog in such bad care. I do not recommend this place at all. read more

What a nice place to leave your pet for a day. We were camping up at the Fryeburg fair in Maine not too far away from here. We wanted to go on the railway up Mount Washington so we needed a babysitter for the day for Cannoli. This place was clean and big and bright and very reasonably priced. When we brought Cannoli I asked if they had a groomer there because his hair was getting in his eyes. We went to pick him up and discovered that he had not been the best boy. I guess he got tired of being in the room with the little dogs and wanted to go out. He is a real people lover. So they had him in a different section with a bowl of water and he was fine. His hair had been trimmed around his eyes and looked perfect. It was a great experience and I'm happy to know that they are there if we need them. read more

This is the only place I will take our puppy, Chewie, to when we travel north. Not only were they very accommodating for us (we had a lot of questions and concerns as this was the first time Chewie did an overnight), but they had so many options to make the stay even better! We elected for all day play, extra cuddles, and to send us updates (pupdates) so we could see how he was doing. They took inventory of everything that came with Chewie and asked to take him before we could make a big deal saying good bye. While I wanted to, I could tell they were going to take good care of him since me saying good bye would probably just stress Chewie out. Chewie stayed with them for 2 days and 2 nights, but the pupdates sadly did not go through. When we went to pick up Chewie, they were apologetic that the pupdates didn't go through and sent them to my phone instead so we would have them (gotta love technology sometimes). Chewie was happy to see us but he was clearly also happy because it was a good experience. 3 days later, Chewie is still exhausted from all the fun he had. There is nothing better than knowing that this place truly cares about every pup that enters their doors. THANK YOU! read more

This place is absolutely amazing for cat grooming! I have two Norwegian Forest Cats who get groomed every 8 weeks. My husband and I recently moved to Freedom, NH and it was about 4 months since the last grooming. Unfortunately, my cats were pretty matted and I was sure they would need a full shaving. The groomer at Karla's Pet Rendezvous was amazing and took her time to get the mats out instead of fully shaving. They were a pleasure to speak with and answered all of our questions. These folks just opened after being shut down from Covid. Our Golden Doodle was a mess! So long, matted and itchy!! We had not been here before so a little nervous but Kelly was great!! They did ask for proof of Rabies vaccinations which we had and that's a good thing they ask!! Due to Covid precautions, Kelly came out to our car and carefully took our Millie. Our dog Shady has been going there for over a year. He went for the two week training . He also goes for over nights that are wonderful. This was our first vacation since adopting our puppy, Bo. We were excited to bring him along but didn't want to leave him alone for days he couldn't come along for the adventures. He had extreme separation anxiety when we adopted him and leaving him alone simply wasn't a option. All I can say if my dog wanted to go back in when we were leaving they must of done a wonderful job in there. The staff was pleasant and very welcoming as soon a we walked in the door. At the end they give us a slip with what his progress was during the stay. They give you rates on how long he can be outside for 2,3,or 4 hours a day and of course the final bath before we take him. If I could give them ZERO stars, I most certainly would. We took our two year old Lab Pointer there for a weekend. After paying for additional services like emergency vet services and picture/video check-ins we couldn't have been let down more. we received one check in over a 3 day period. When we picked her up, she was shaking like a leaf. When we asked why we had only received the one update, we were told that they had lost our phone number. Imagine leaving your child at daycare and they lost your phone number? Incredibly unprofessional and negligent. Once we arrived home our normally very energetic dog would not get out of the car without us picking her up. We noticed puss coming from her paws and took her to the emergency vet. She was diagnosed with a severe infection and dermatitis. when we called this awful dog daycare to see if they had any idea of what had happened to cause this, they had ZERO answers for us. Not only were they discourteous during this interaction, they made it seem like this was ours and our dogs fault. They did, however, offer to let our dog stay for a free visit at a later date, LOL. If you want to avoid $1500 in emergency vet fees and potential terminal illness for your animal, look anywhere but here. We have since never left our dog in the care of anyone other then friends and family. If I had the means to sue this place I would. read more

Back in May of 2020, the middle of the pandemic lock down, we placed a $500 deposit with Karla for a dog. To be clear, we were fully informed that it would be non-refundable if not used. My family, along with the rest of the world, were suffering emotionally with this confinement, and seriously wanted the comfort of a small dog. We managed to finally procure one from another breeder and were thrilled to get a new puppy. We did ask for the deposit back from Karla, she was adamant not to return it. There is no question in my mind that every available dog could be sold during this pandemic, the demand was substantially higher than the supply. We feel Karla could have made a Covid exception for us. She certainly would not suffer financially, and we feel it would have been the ethical thing to do. I would never want or advise others to deal with this company. She was within her rights, but certainly has no heart. I'll let her sleep with that. read more

They treat your pets better than you do! Business trip forced me to leave my three Goldendoodles (puppies no less, active+++). Everyone that I met obviously loves animals. I almost cried when I went to pick them up, my oldest was thrilled to see me, the two younger ones were ignoring me and playing with the staff. My dogs seemed to really love their stay and the staff, and now I do too! The staff is all kind and very helpful/courteous to humans also. This is the first place we've ever taken our dog to be boarded, and what a great experience it was. The facility is very clean and filled with people who genuinely love their job. My dog has such high anxiety in new settings but the minute we walked in you could tell he was comfortable right away. The guests at Karla's Pet Rendezvous get ample play time and lots of love. They even send home a report card when you pick up your pet. They respected that we had hesitations about him playing with other dogs, and compensated by giving him some extra love during play time. We adopted our dog Buttercup on 2/6/2016 from Karla's Pet Rendezvous in Conway, NH and she is a complete gem. Previously we've had rescue dogs, and we also raised one golden retriever puppy from a very reputable breeder. Our experience with our golden was excellent, so that's where my bar was set for quality expectation. That breeder was exceptionally good, extremely breed and health conscious, and dedicated to her dogs after adoption. Karla's still blows that breeder away. Karla requires adopting families to come for a 4 hour puppy seminar the day of adoption, where all sorts of information is provided and all questions asked. Karla's trainer is present for that, as are both puppy parents. We were able to share with the other adopting families, and felt very supported as we brought Buttercup home. I especially appreciate that while Karla feels very strongly about certain matters such as diet, she's not judgmental either, and provides a wide range of healthiest choices and encourages families to find the healthiest solution that will work for them. She also strongly encourages people to educate themselves and gives tips and warnings on things to look out for. She also makes it abundantly clear that her dogs should never, ever be brought to a shelter, and if there is ever any insurmountable problem whatsoever she will personally re-home the dog. While we truly believe we'd never be in that boat, it says a lot about Karla's character and I have the utmost respect for that position. And then there are the dogs. OH MY GOSH. Buttercup is the sweetest, gentlest, smartest creature. Everyone who meets her remarks on it. She is just exceptionally sweet, and there's no other way to describe it without meeting her. He coat is remarkably soft and we pretty much just want to hug her non-stop. We are able to take her with us most anywhere we are allowed, and while, yes, she is still a puppy, she is remarkably easy. She's just finishing up with her Puppy Level 2 class and is very trainable and loves, LOVES to please. She is a people-dog, for certain. I would recommend Karla's Pet Rendezvous' dogs in a heartbeat. I am from out of town and needed to board my senior terrier dog in the area while we were skiing for the week. As a rescue, my dog has separation anxiety that we've been working on for the 8 years that I've had her. She's been boarded many times and I've always been given good reports about her behavior (to the point where I wonder if its actually my dog they're talking about). But picking her up this time, she actually seemed more relaxed and happy. They were happy to give me updates when I called during the week and the staff's excitement about my dog was really just put me at ease that I didn't have to call everyday. My dog doesn't really play much with others and she just wants people to be near her and I feel like the staff here did exactly that for her. Today for the first time i decide to bring my dog over your pet salon for a hair cut, I was so happy the place look clean and nice, people was friendly and it look's busy! I though to myself I finally found a perfect place to take care of my dog. The biggest disapoiment was when I pick him up, I pay the $50 for the service and then they bring my dog, what a bad surprise, my dog didn't got the hair cut I request, only service I request, instead he got a bath, ear cleaning and nails done, not what I especificly request (HAIR CUT), there excuse was so ridiculous! They call the vet and ask if it was recommended for my dog to get a hair cut, unfortunaly his vet wasn't on town. I ask myself how come instead of take decision over my dog, they didn't call me and ask me if I want something else done to my Dog/son? Or if I still want to go ahead with the hair cut? Also when I drop him off I especifictly told them I didn't want them to give him a bath because he has allergies and I use non toxic special stuff for him and certainly they didn't care. Obviously they wait till I pay my bill before they let me know all this. When I express my discomfort they offer me a 50% on my dog hairs cut for next time, really? Is this a joke? I had never feel more disrespect and ignore over my decisions, seriously not a good way to do bussines in this small valley. I'm gonna make sure to forward my formal complain to every pet store, local shelter, pet groomer salon, online review webside and Facebook. What a fabulous place!!! We just self groomed our Beagle and Springer and it was clean, included all the soaps, conditioner and combs and dryers! Wish there was one near us at home. First off it took the staff THREE times to make my appointment for my dog. They kept telling me that it was a computer problem, and that's why I had to keep faxing my dog records to them and re-registering her. They ruined my dog, my dog was only there for 5-6 hours top for doggie daycare. She came back with All four paws RAW/ Red/ Bloody . I brought my dog to my vet, He had to put her on pain killers to help with the pain, and antibiotics to help with infection. I called Karla (the owner) and asked her if she could refund me the price of doggie day care or my vet visit. She told me No. Karla told me that my dogs paws were a result to her "having fun" at her daycare. She did NOT need to see a vet, that they have ointment there. I told Karla that's animal cruelty that my dog needed medical attention. I wish I never brought my dog there, please if your a animal lover go somewhere else!!!! read more

We were seeking to take our kids to storyland in north conway area and we took our dog here today. Its about 1/2 hour away from storyland, so not exactly close, but could be on your way. This place is great. The people were nice, very dog friendly, clearly they know what they are doing.They have a small pool for the dogs on hot days, and while they let the dogs play a lot, they have a rest time from 12-2. Just returned home after a week in North Conway, NH. Our Labradoodle puppy played at KPR for 3 days during vacation. We can't say enough about Karla and her crew! They were absolutely awesome. I was skeptical at first because the women answering the phone was just so matter of factly. Not much professionalism and she sounded kind of like that comedian Stephen Wright with regards to his demeanor if you know what I mean? Other than the initial phone conversation these folks were awesome when I arrived. They answered all of my questions and reassured me my dog would be in the best of hands. I knew as soon as I saw the numerous staff members that were in and out of the front office I picked the right place. I saw first hand how they reacted with other pets already at the facility. Upon pickup I was kind of amazed that my dog didn't seem as excited as she normally is? My gut feeling was telling me she received all the love and care she would have at home. We came up Jan 24th -27th and stayed in the town of Jackson NH. We went skiing at Attitash and Wildcat. Karla's Pet rendezvous was perfect as we love to bring our Siberian Husky with us when we go away but hate to leave her alone when we can't involve her in our activities. I spoke to one of the employees over the phone and got a complete overview and sent all my vaccination documents and the required paperwork to be filled out in advance all online. Drop off and pick up was easy and the staff spoils the dogs in their care. Our Husky couldn't wait to go back the next day and dragged me out of the car to get inside. And when she got home after the day was over she was out like a light!! The rate was very reasonable for 8 am to 5 pm. Would highly recommend. read more

We were so relieved to find Karla's for our dog care needs while vacationing in N. Conway. We called a few weeks in advance to figure out the specific requirements and then called the night before arrival to reserve space in the daycare. Our Otis loved the company (both canine and human). They instantly and genuinely loved our boy so we could go enjoy activities. Otis even spent time at the groomer and came back so handsome and expertly groomed. The price was reasonable and The care was exceptional. The facility is clean and well designed to support all dogs. We will definitely use Karla's again when we come back to N. Conway. We even got a report card each day with sweet messages from the team about what Otis was up to! read more

We bought an Australian Labradoodle from Karla 8 months ago. From the selection process, to the materials supplied at pick up (8 weeks) to the ongoing advice, Karla and her staff have been terrific. They know whey that are doing and are helpful and supportive in every way. As to the dog, this is our third in 30 years and our first "Doodle". He's smart and sweet with a soft mouth. He learns quickly, is great with other dogs and guests, it's been almost too good to be true. We couldn't recommend Karla more highly nor her approach to breeding and training. read more

While their bathing facility looks convenient and clean - that's probably all that I would recommend about this place. I felt like a "dollar bill" the moment I walked into the place. There was no "warm and fuzzy feeling" that one should get about the people who will be taking care of your dog. It was very superficial! The play group (of dogs) wasn't being monitored/chaperoned consistently by anyone in the room, (a pack of dogs were left by themselves.) This occurred on each of the 4 times I was there. The place wasn't clean - and upon entering a LOOSE dog was able to approach my dog. (This dog was not under any sort of care/restraint) Thankfully nothing happened. I brought my dog for daycare - and instead it spent the entire time in the kennel. If you care about your dog - don't go here! Our dog *loves* it here! Whenever we want to spend the day skiing or just dining and shopping in the Mt Washington Valley we have no qualms in dropping the pup off at Karla's. Big well supervised yard to run around and socialize in, and Karla and her entire staff treat all their guests like their own family pets. Grooming and self-serve dog wash are great, too. We took our dog to Karla's during the Christmas break, and we (and I am sure our dog) loved it!. The facility was just spotless, and the staff was very attentive and friendly. Red (our dog) spent the day there playing; he also got a bath. When we picked him up, he smelled so good! If you are looking for a place to bring your dog while you hit the slopes or plan on doing shopping, this is just place. It is about 20 minutes from most of the hotels in N.
