This places hours and days mirror the Trade Day hours, so if you are going to one you might as well go to the other. Also, you don't have to pay for parking here! There is a great selection of merchandise and vendors here: many of them used to do the outside market at Trade Days, but decided to move indoors. I found better pricing and value inside the Canton Marketplace than I found at Trade Days, in fact, my car was literally full of things I bought here when I l

May 30, 2026 Folk…read moreArt Abounds at Stitchin' Heaven. I blame my Wife for this encounter. She is the cause of all this awestruckness visited upon me that fateful final May Saturday. It was a three and a half hour drive for us to get there from our house near The Woodlands. The Greater Piney Woods of East Central Texas between Huntsville and Tyler were a sight to behold and to this day, make me happy to be a Native Texan. Small towns, like Quitman, hide gems within their city limits. Stitchin' Heaven is one such place. Hitting the parking lot, you realize tuis is much more than a quilt shop. It is a quilters destination, a cloth clubhouse for anyone wanting to stitch up folk art. They have classes and retreats for those that desire to learn this ancient art of making bed coverings. We spent about an hour inside ... the Wife browsing, I, just gawking at the displays of true hand made beauty. Fantasy Quilts, Traditional ones, special themed ones all were draped along the walls to stare at and wonder. Wonder how someone could dedicate so much time and effort to achieve this work of love and art. I came out of there with a new appreciation of what thread, needles and a good set of shears can do to a bolt of cloth. If you are ever up there, stop by and just see the hanging quilts. If you like to quilt or would like to learn, check out their website stitchinheaven.com to see what they offer for classes and supplies. You might even get a selfie with their painted cattle statue near the door. My Wife wants to do the retreat ... I may just pay for her to do that, while I ride the local roads and take in what East Texas has to offer scenery wise. Ciao, Darrell
