A good home owned restaurant that makes a pretty good meal. It is also an antique restaurant.

We didn't come because of bathroom ratings, but those reviewers that mentioned the poor bathrooms understated conditions: There was not toilet paper or paper towels. Not good. I had the prime rib sandwich with tater tots. As I said, the tater tots were good. But the prime rib sandwich was much too spicy for my tastes. I ate it anyway because I was hungry. It did have Sriracha sauce so I probably should've avoided it. I love prime rib, but this was just OK. Not a super generous portion, and not something I would order again. My sister had the shrimp taco special and did like them. Shrimp were fried. My dad had a small burger and tater tots and did enjoy it. If you're in Oakley passing through as we were, I would skip this place and go with Sonic for food. Of course the owners / proprietors can't control this, but there was a loud and profane group of 4 young men at the bar (at 1:30 PM, we were there for lunch) who used the F word every third word. That situation normal for many bars. I'm sure. I'm just saying this isn't a place I would bring small children. Two of five stars because of the friendly service.

Colby, Kansas, March 2026…read more The small restaurant has 10 tables. It It sits on the corner of an antique strip mall. Pretty basic inside the restaurant. The salad bar is located right next to the one and only bathroom. The menu has many sandwiches to choose from. It has fewer entree selections. The waitress was new the night we went. She was nice and extremely helpful. She was an older lady, and I only say that for clarification of the other waitress who had long black hair with ponytail. Tried to get her attention a few times, and even though the restaurant is extremely small, she passed by as if though she did not see us. We ordered the chicken fried steak and the fried chicken. Both came with an ice cream size scoop of mashed potatoes and corn. The potatoes and chicken were covered in a white gravy. The chicken was hot and tender. The mashed potatoes were flavorless as was the gravy. The meals are also accompanied with a roll. Butter is in individual packets on the table. The chicken fried steak was thick and had little breading. It would have been better if it was a thinner pounded steak with more breading as that was more traditional to my liking. When they bring your check, it comes with a warm chocolate chip cookie. Cute idea! The ambience was odd and not welcoming. The location was rather depressing. The food was OK. I would give this place overall 3.5 stars.

It doesn't open until 5:00, we arrived early and they asked us to come on in and have a drink as the prepared to open. Fresh salad with a house made vinaigrette arrived quickly. The prime rib was really not a good cut; it was tough and had too much gristle for both of us. The sides were good though and the freshly made Apple cobbler with ice cream was delicious. This is a dry county, so no wine or any alcohol over 6%, but still a decent place in the middle of west Kansas.

A new gem on the plains…read more Located in Sharon Springs Kansas. This new restaurant is a family owned and run establishment. Open on Friday and Saturday evenings. They specialize in specialty burgers, steaks, salads and prime rib (Saturday). You will spend a good deal of your evening just looking at the decor. All of the furnishing were built by Erin's father and the rest of the family. A collection of local prairie items and artwork will intrigue. My party arrived at about 5:30 in the evening and had no trouble getting a table. As the night progressed, the place filled up pretty fast. Seating is first come first served. Erin prides herself in providing quality fair in quantities that will fill any appetite. She buys all of her meats and produce locally, so one of the dinner salads might include what is in season at the time. My prime rib was cooked to perfection using a secret family recipe, They cook their meat in a homemade grill behind the restaurant. The meal came with a choice of mashed potato, loaded mashed potato or their homemade curly potato chips. I topped the meal off with homemade hot brownie with vanilla ice cream. I'm told the brownie is her mom's recipe. This is a family run business and there is plenty of wait and kitchen help with Erin's husband, sister and kids pitching in to provide a pleasant dinning experience. As the evening goes on don't be surprised if Bo or the girls step up to provide some live musical entertainment. I think this is my new favorite place to go.
