Let me just say I had a terrible experience at a "dentist" from across the street and I hated going to get checkups even afterwards. My dad's dentist was retiring and referred him to Dr. Lang, so my family decided to give him a shot. Well I am SO glad we did! I no longer fear going to the dentist anymore when I see him and Debbie and everyone at the office! Took me a few visits but now I can say I do not have anxiety about getting looked at. The office is decorated nicely, they offer videos and music while you're getting worked on and best of all they treat you like a human, not a giant dollar sign with a mouth on you. I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Lang and his staff. Gentle hands and gentle hearts. Switch today--you will NOT regret it!

I was visiting family last month and a crown popped off my tooth. I just needed it glued back on,…read morebut I was 2k miles away from my usual dentist. So, I opened Yelp and started looking for local practices. In this small town, there were only 3 dental practices listed. 1st firm - I called. They were closed on Fridays. 2nd said they needed to assess me and take x-rays first, and then in a SECOND appointment, they could help me. I thought they were joking. I explained I just needed some glue and someone to push down on it. Nope. 2 appointments. No exceptions. No thanks. 3rd place was Aspen Dental. They fit me in the next day (a Saturday!) and were able to do everything in one appointment on a Saturday morning. Can't get much better than that.

SCAM ALERT! Made an appointment to utilize dental insurance before the end of the year. After the…read moreexam was told I needed two fillings and two crowns in addition to cleaning. Then went to the "administrative" person, who was like a used car salesman. Somehow in the time I walked the hall to her office, the treatment became two fillings, two crowns, two implants and a super-duper cleaning and the total bill BEYOND MY BCBS INSURANCE would be almost $10k and was immediately pushed to signup for some care credit account. I said we'd hold off on the two implants until after the new year when insurance would reset and my bill BEYOND MY INSURANCE was still over $2k. (Keep in mind my BCBS insurance covers the first $1,500 and provides a discount after that). When I contacted the office before the appointment for this work to be done, I said I wanted just the cleaning and fillings done and that I'd address those crowns and implants after the new year. Was told by the "administrative" person that a regular cleaning "wouldn't do anything," that they would refuse to just give me that cleaning and that I need the periodontal super cleaning that would still cost nearly $1000 BEYOND MY INSURANCE plus the cost of fillings. When I said I wanted just the fillings done then, she said she was canceling my future appointment because I wasn't having the mega-expensive periodontal whatever cleaning done. So evidently fillings are impossible here unless you're paying over $1,000 for this super cleaning to be done. Have no idea how that is ethical. It's like a doctor refusing to fix a broken leg because you didn't didn't buy the most expensive brace on Earth to use prior to your appointment. I have no problem with having NECESSARY AND REAL work that needs to be done, but when your pushed into having very expensive work done and they refuse to do the basic stuff, it's a red flag. Now it's too late to use the insurance benefits in 2025 because another place won't be able to get me in before the end of the year, so I learned a $1,500 lesson - don't go to CORPORATE dentistry outfits.

Today's visit to this office raised serious concerns about compliance with Michigan's…read moreinformed-consent requirements, professional ethics, and accepted standards of dental care. First, the staff attempted to take my 4-year-old son back to the exam room without me present. For a minor child, separation from a parent during care is not standard practice and violates basic expectations of transparency and parental involvement. There was no medical or behavioral justification offered. During the visit, a fluoride treatment was administered to my son without my informed consent. I was never told this procedure would be performed, no risks or alternatives were explained, and I was not asked to authorize or decline it. In Michigan, licensed health professionals are required to obtain prior, voluntary, informed consent for non-emergency procedures, especially when treating minor children. Dental providers operate under the same principles and ethical obligations recognized by the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) and the Michigan Board of Dentistry. When I calmly questioned why a procedure had been performed on my child without consent, the staff became defensive. Rather than address the issue or follow professional protocol, the office refused to provide my own scheduled appointment, which appeared retaliatory and contrary to the professional conduct standards expected of licensed dental practices. I also requested appropriate documentation, including an incident report. I was denied. I was only given a brief patient-note printout, with portions that appeared cut off or omitted, which further undermines transparency. Michigan providers are expected to maintain accurate, complete patient records and provide them upon request. For the sake of clarity: - I remained calm, professional, and respectful throughout the encounter. - I simply asked why consent was bypassed and requested the documentation I am legally permitted to receive. - The office's actions following that request were unprofessional and inconsistent with Michigan's expectations of provider conduct, patient rights, and the standard of care. Given the number of similar concerns found in other reviews, I want to note that any response from Sandra should be read with caution. In my experience, the office's narrative often diverges from what actually occurred. Parents deserve to know when a provider fails to follow informed-consent law, professional ethical standards, and basic transparency requirements. My experience today raises legitimate concerns that I believe warrant the attention of the Michigan dental licensing authorities.
