The laundry machines (not inc in the unit; there's a laundry mat on premises) leave clothes smelly musty even when using hot water and scent booster beads. Likewise, the dishwasher basically just rinses the dishes and doesn't clean well either.I have never experienced machines less suited to their purpose before. The pros are that there is a pavilion and the grill areas are scattered so as to be proximate to any unit. There are (tiny!) community gardens as well, but they don't explain that they're first-come-first-serve in any of the passive-aggressive notes they constantly leave on the door. Some jerk took an entire plot to grow herbs that they're not even using and could easily fit in a pot.

This year, the same manager sends me a renewal stating $1945/month. A few days after that renewal form, I received a letter stating she was no longer associated with Air City Lofts and my rent would now be $2010/month. I called the office the next day and they stated there's a regional manager there now "so yeah" (not very professional). I work very hard for my money and expect a great living environment for that price. Well, the intercom system works for a week or 2 and then it's out for months so you have to go downstairs to let guests in. The neighbors smoke Marijuana (non-smoking building) and it comes right through my vent. NOBODY has their dog/s on a leash and they run back and forth in the hallway (whole apt shakes) all day and night. People upstairs sound like they're going to come through the ceiling, waking me up all night long. The trash room is chocked full of fruit flies, leaving my apartment full of fruit flies for 10 months out of the year. There is one tiny gym room for all of the buildings. I had my window opened last summer and my granddaughter ran to the window and touched the screen, which fell out. Well, she almost fell out with it as it is only about 2 feet from the ground. By the grace of God, she flew backwards out of fear instead of forward or she would have been dead. I am now in the process of moving. I've complained numerous times regarding everything and nothing will ever be resolved here.

And the kicker? We are the ONE BUILDING that they manage WHICH THEY DO NOT EVEN OWN. Their mismanagement and overly controlling ways have fostered an ugly atmosphere of distrust and outright despair. Who wants to be awakened and commanded to appear on the carpet to be read the riot act for saying that they work for US? That is what happened to me and my husband this morning, and I intend to spread this message everywhere: CRM IS NOT A DIETY. We do not kiss their "holy" butts, pun not intended. I have the freedom to speak my own mind to them, and they cannot tell me otherwise. They cannot evict me, as our rent is paid and we are good people who are elderly, disabled, and have few enough resources to fight this kind of mistreatment by their company. Repairs/requests have ALWAYS been addressed promptly - most within 24 hours of my e-mail. I've never experienced that level of quality service, anywhere. We love the size of our apartment especially the kitchen. The gym is well equipped and the residents can enjoy the common room on the fourth floor. We are happy that we get to entertain our guests on the 4th floor lounge / game room , and my favorite the rooftop terrace that includes two barbecue grills. The management is always organizing social events so we get to meet our neighbors and enjoy the surroundings. I highly recommend IRON PIER Apartments if anyone is looking to have a downtown experience in Syracuse.

Security seems pretty tight and the tenants always seem pretty pleasant in passing so from the outside it seems like it might be a nice place to live. Definitely not a bad place to visit, especially since there are so few rooftop spaces in Syracuse. If you ever get the opportunity to catch a rooftop yoga class here, DO IT.
