As we walked in, we were met with the great aroma of coffee and baked goods. The place was very busy and there were a lot of staff moving around and customers having conversations or in line to order take out. We sat in a separate area downstairs and we were the only guests there. It was somewhat dark but it was private and there were bathrooms downstairs. We tried their tiramisu that was one of the bests I've ever tried. We also ordered their pistachio martini that was a super treat as it also had pistachio gelato. Their cappuccino made me want a second one. I am coming back to this place next time that I visit the North End!

Our party of 9 chose this cafe as a convenient midpoint location and had a terrible experience recently, which is why I'm updating my prior review. When about 2/3 of the group had arrived, we asked if we could be seated. The woman we asked said yes and started putting two tables together. While another woman was bringing chairs over, an angry male server who was not involved at all, suddenly began having an aggressive outburst that made very little sense to us. Even if we didn't fully understand what he was saying, the nonverbal communication was clear enough. Our group felt extremely uncomfortable and disrespected, so we left immediately. I don't know what their internal rules are about seating, but offending customers should not be one of them. Thankfully we were able to salvage the evening elsewhere, but service here could be a challenge, especially for larger groups. I'm fortunate that the cafes in my own neighborhood are always kind and welcoming, which makes them a joy to support. I'd hope Vittoria could do better in the future, but personally, we are unlikely to try them again.

I have been aware of Utopias for a decade. Finally had the chance to try it. Didn't know what I expected, maybe a genie popping out of the bottle? I stopped into this place as there was room at the bar and other places seemed very busy, given that it was the weekend of the Boston Marathon. There was a QR system to order but halfway through the bartender asked me what I wanted so I placed an order that way. I ordered a glass of wine and a glass of water. The wine came but no water. The wine was served in a nice sized glass. I asked again for water and five minutes later it arrived. I ordered a Chicken Quesadilla....it was mighty mediocre. Not well presented either, but at least it was warm. When I wanted to leave, it took 10 minutes to get the bartender's attention (who always seemed to be doing something other than paying attention to the patrons.) If you are starving, and there are not other options, by all means, go here. But you might do better at a different restaurant.

She was making my drink. I just walked out leaving it there. I cannot believe what I saw. EDIT Based on Owner Response: So if you watched, you'd see me standing staring open mouthed watching through the blue glass, look around to see if anyone else was seeing what I was, then LEAVE WITHOUT THE DRINK I PAID FOR because of what I saw. I understand you're doing what you need to for your business, but don't try to make it seem like I imagined it. She blew her nose and used the napkin to clean up empty Yakult containers and wipe the counter down. She was not wearing gloves. Repeatedly touched her hair and face and was texting in between tasks. You might now want see through walls for your kitchen.
