This was my first time at a teppanyaki believe it or not! I had only ever seen this in movies and…read morehad no idea that it's actually a resto style called teppanyaki. We were seated in the semi private area which has two tables and can accommodate 16 people comfortably... Maybe 2 more if you squeeze a bit. Drinks: I decided to embrace the unique experience by ordering a Ramune pop where you have to punch down a glass bead so that you can pour the soda. It's served into a glass with a lime flavored popsicle to give it extra flavor. Ordering: the way the menu works is that everyone gets the same things included with their meal. The only thing different is the protein ordered. - Onion broth: thin but oh so packed with umami flavor! - Salad: pretty good with light vinaigrette - Mushrooms: mmmhh fried and covered in soy sauce - Shrimp: delish and drown it in the tangy dipping sauce - Mixed Veggies: helps balance all the meatiness - Addictive ground ginger soy sauce: can eat this with everything! - Tangy chili sauce: love the flavor - Bowl of rice - Orange creamsicle ice cream: yay for ice cream! - Cup of Jasmine tea: wash down all that flavor The meats: with 3 choices of beef from least to most expensive--Beef Samurai, Sirloin, Filet Mignon. I went middle of the road with the sirloin but was able to taste the filet mignon off my friend's plate. Conclusion: filet mignon cut up in cubes had a rich beefy flavor that comes from the fat in the meat that is seared. It's really good, super tender and juicy. The sirloin also cooked and cubed has a flatter taste but still really tender and delicious. If budget is not an issue, go with the filet mignon, your taste buds will be singing! Staff was friendly and polite. The cooks, depending who you get make their own jokes to entertain you while cooking. Our cook did this knife flipping thing with his chef's knife into it's holster several times like it was nothing. I could just envision myself trying that and losing fingers and toes in the process!!! Overall, it's just a touch pricey but I loved the experience! We were all very satisfied. It's good sized portions guaranteeing that nobody will leave hungry. The place filled up by 6pm where every table was occupied. I will go back again!

I am writing to share an experience my friends and I had at Sushi Teketa that left us feeling upset…read moreand treated unfairly. We visited the restaurant for an all-you-can-eat meal and placed multiple orders throughout our visit. Unfortunately, a significant portion of the food we ordered never arrived. After waiting for quite some time, we asked staff about our missing dishes, but instead of receiving them, we were eventually told that the kitchen was no longer serving food. We explained that we had not received much of what we had ordered and politely asked if they would consider a discount since we were paying for an all-you-can-eat meal that we never fully received. Our request was refused. What hurt us the most was how the situation was handled afterward. As teenagers, we felt that our concerns were not taken seriously and that we were being taken advantage of because of our age. Rather than trying to work toward a fair resolution, the situation escalated to the point where staff threatened to call the police simply because we were questioning why we should have to pay full price for food that was never served. We never wanted free food or special treatment. We only wanted either the meal we ordered or to pay fairly for what we actually received. We left feeling disappointed, embarrassed, and unheard. I believe customers of any age deserve to be treated with respect, and I hope that by sharing this experience, it encourages businesses to handle situations like this with more fairness and understanding.

I felt super worried about the service and the staff seemed a bit overwhelmed but they delivered greatness! The ambiance was very intimate and small but still lots of tables around to enjoy They made sure that all of us didn't come home hungry! The menu is pretty awesome and lots of food options ! I wasn't in the mood for sushi but definitely changed my mind after I saw other people having it and my mood kicked in suddenly craving for sushi I enjoyed their miso soup it was amazing and delicious fresh just not much tofu so the dish itself was good just missing some tofu in my bowl! Seasoned great though My husband and I decided to share The teriyaki chicken dish .. it was really great . Only thing was the Chicken was a bit dry but the tempura veggies and house salad definitely tasted fresh and amazing. The maki sushis was wonderful 5/5 16pieces pretty tender and very fresh. Thick pieces of avocado and salmon with high end grade sushi grade fish. pretty impressed! Overall the service was attentive and wonderful .. we got our food very quickly even though we were a lot in our group they were able to set up an ordering system into different groups so we could all order effectively.. seemed like it wasn't their first rodeo and are very well prepared for huge groups. Totally recommend this place in general and will be back for sure, their known for their sushi and are one of the best I've tasted in a while very much recommend it Cheers

We had the IWAKI course for 2 and it was the following: - Cold entrees: miso oyster (addictive flavor), mashed potato & bamboo shoots (yummy), squid & daikon (tasted rose water like? Didn't like it), salmon tartar (great), duck (good) and tuna in cherry tomato (yum). - Soba noodle salad: the dressing was thin but the flavor was full and satisfying. - Sea bass sashimi: absolutely delicious. He brought hot oil and drizzled it on the fish to sear it quickly. - Mini okonamiyaki: these mini pancakes tasted a bit weird to me. - Deep fried king fish: tender and delicious - Salmon rice soup in hot stone pot: flavorful and satisfying - Candied ginger ice cream: if you eat the mint with the ice cream it's really good together a mix of spicy, cold and tingly. There were only 3 other people in the restaurant beside us two. It was a one man operation where the chef was the one prepping, serving, removing the dishes and taking the payment. As a consequence, service was not fast but decent. The restaurant is very cosy and intimate as it'll only seat a total of 12 people. The food overall was pretty good and it feels like you have a private chef cooking for you. The highlight for me was the sea bass sashimi. It's a little pricey for the quantity though. I would go back to try the other menus.

10 stars out of five!…read more Jardin Iwaki is my favourite Japanese restaurant, hands down. This tiny, authentically decorated resto has a staff of two (as far as I could tell without poking my head into the kitchen) - one Owner/Chef, and one server, and that's all it takes to make for an unforgettable evening. Reservations, by the way, are pretty much mandatory and when you call yours in you will be offered your choice of three distinct meals. (Iwaki, Edo, Imadake) I usually opt for the "EDO" meal which offers sushi as part of the menu but I really do want to try the "IMADAKE" - the "Chef's Choice" next time. The EDO menu consisted of about six servings, starting with a delightful arrangement of six appetizers, then followed (but not in the order in which I am listing) by a soba noodle salad, a soup, a butter fish entree, a plate of sushi, a plate of Okonomiyaki (lovely little pancakes), and a desert. Each and every one of the courses are beautifully prepared and served and are orchestrated to match the elegance of dining. While everything was a treat to the eyes and palate, it was the butter fish that stole the show. I can't really explain how delicious it was other than to tell you that quiet whimpers of ecstasy were uttered throughout the course. Eye-crossingly good, I experienced a kind of revelation that bordered on the religious. The restaurant's size makes for an intimate experience not to be forgotten. Couples converse quietly, and even the family that occupied a six-top generated no intrusive noise. It is such a welcome change from those restaurants that think LOUD makes for a superior dining experience. Absolute magic!

Once seated, things happen very quickly...it is go, go, go (in the best possible way.) We ordered appetizers first, the tempura green beans with a delicious truffle mayo, gyoza and the tofu salad (they make it fresh every Sunday). Green beans were everyone's fave, but I have to mention the (pickled?) vegetables on the salad. So flavourful! Also tried the egg drop soup which is so tasty. Mains were the salmon tuna bowl, the beef short ribs, the shrimp burger, and 48 hour pork with curry sauce. Everything was wonderful! Finished with their soft serve ice cream, I had the cherry blossom but one of us had the sake, which is a shot of sake poured on top. Amazing! You can even have wasabi or ginger... I'll try that next time (and there will be a next time soon!)

You can also order to go here I believe. They really operate efficiently, expect fast service! Tables are tightly situated and there's a cozy bar situation where I sat this time, able to watch the chefs cook right in front of me. The daily specials are posted on their Instagram page, as well as written on pieces of paper around the restaurant. My server quickly helped me to water and a glass of sake. I placed a to go order for one of the daily specials, the grilled sea bass with sushi rice and salad, with some kimchi. I also ordered the BBQ chicken with tortilla and salad, as well as vegetable gyoza. Everything was incredible. Truly. The gyoza came topped with green onions and was SO crispy and hot and was perfect with their soy sauce. I thought sea bass was wonderful with a unique almost smoky flavor that melted in my mouth paired with the slightly sweet sticky rice. The barbecue chicken was great as well and better the next day. One thing I don't really understand is why they served plain flour tortillas cut into quarters with their food. We didn't utilize this, nor the white butter/mayo sauce that came alongside it. I hope to eat here often, for years to come and am so happy to see this iconic Japanese restaurant still thriving years later.
