Very clean and pleasing feel. First, the service is so hospitable! The perfect combination of Vegas and Hawaiian service. They make you feel like you're eating at a friend's place. My eyes were on the butter mochi pancakes. I had them with strawberries and while they don't need syrup, if you like a little change up and don't mind some sweetness, I recommend just a little syrup from time to time :) I also had a delicious cup of coffee which was refilled happily and often! This is a great addition to the brunch rotation and goes to the top of the list for pancakes. That said, I may have to try the more protein packed meals next visit! read more

This is the third time we've been here, and we've always had a good experience. We decided to come by this morning for some of the yummy pancakes. We waited about 30 minutes for a table, which is pretty typical, and in the past we've always thought it was worth the wait, but unfortunately, not today. Our server took our drink order and came back forgetting my coffee. No big deal, it happens. She also took a while to come back to take our food order. She apologized and said it was busy. Our food came out, everything was pretty much room temperature and not at all hot. You could tell it had been sitting for a little while because the gravy on the hamburger steak had a film on top and was already getting lumpy. Our server never really came back to check on us or ask if we needed anything. Every time we needed something, we had to ask for it. After a while, other employees started stopping by and asking if we needed anything, which we appreciated. I'm not sure if the servers all share tables here, but it seemed like everyone checked on us except for the woman who originally took our order. We've really enjoyed coming here in the past, so it was disappointing that this visit wasn't nearly as good as the others. A standout brunch spot! We waited 30 minutes on a weekday around 10:30am, and it was definitely worth it. We ordered the kalua pig with cabbage and Da Boom Kanani (3 eggs, choice of meat, and pancakes). We subbed out the regular pancakes for the mochi pancakes, which was a $3 surcharge. Our total was $39 and some change. All the food was delicious, but the star was the pancakes!! I went to Kanani's Cafe for lunch after a workout with a few friends from the gym. They told me it was authentic Hawaiian food, and for some reason I went in thinking Hawaiian food might be on the healthier side. Well... one look at the menu quickly changed that impression! This is definitely hearty, indulgent, Hawaiian-style comfort food, lots of rice, Spam, Portuguese sausage, sweet treats, and plenty of delicious things to choose from. If you're not familiar with Hawaiian food and culture, some of the combinations may be different from what you're used to, but that is part of the experience. I ordered the Da Big Boy breakfast: three eggs, bacon, Spam, Portuguese sausage, and I chose fruit and toast with mine. One of my friends ordered the famous Loco Moco, and between the rest of the table there were other Hawaiian dishes and hotcakes to try. And let me tell you about those hotcakes! I don't even like pancakes, and I tried some and they were DELICIOUS. They actually recommend tasting them before adding syrup because they are already sweet and flavorful on their own. They were right. My friends didn't even need the syrup. I also had a guava juice that was absolutely delicious. But as much as I enjoyed the food, what would really bring me back is the service and hospitality. Everyone was incredibly friendly and welcoming. There can be a line to get in, but it moves quickly, and you can tell that everyone working there is very aware of the customers waiting. One detail really impressed me, especially with the Las Vegas heat. They have a cooler with cold water available for people waiting outside, with a sign inviting you to help yourself. Such a simple gesture, but it says a lot about how they treat their customers. Whoever was managing the front, the owner, manager, or hostess, seemed genuinely attentive to everyone, including the people who hadn't even been seated yet. That's good hospitality and good business. The whole place has personality, too, with Hawaiian-style items and souvenirs available for purchase, adding to the atmosphere. Even if you don't go for a huge meal, stop by for a guava juice and some of those hotcakes! I went in not really knowing what to expect and left pleasantly surprised. MOCHI PANCAKES!! It's a must order. We've been to Kanani's on multiple occasions and some days the mochi pancakes were already sold out. So, we try to arrive early to make sure we get to indulge. Our other go-to is the Loco Moco. The hamburger patties are both seasoned to perfection! I'm drooling as I write this. Since both plates are a generous size, we typically share family style. Recently, our party of 8 checked in around 12:15pm and the wait time was 45 minutes. The dining area is on the cozy side, so just be aware and plan your day accordingly. It's a smaller restaurant, so expect a wait if you're coming on a weekend. We arrived a little before 11:30 on a Sunday morning and waited about 20 minutes for our party of four. While we waited outside, we checked out the menu so we would have an idea of what to order when we got seated. I don't recommend parties much larger than 4, although 6 is possible but it gets tighter. * Kanani's Famous Loco Moco $16 with added mushrooms $2 - This came highly recommended and we couldn't agree more. The homemade burger patty has some great flavor all on its own, so that's a big win there. It comes with two eggs your way, a scoop of mac salad, and a bed of rice. We aren't the biggest fans of mac salad and should have asked if they could replace it with something else. * Podagee Sausage Benedict $14 - The hollandaise sauce was really good and contrasted nicely with the saltiness of the sausage. * Butter Mochi Hotcakes $12 - Another dish that came recommended and we decided to keep it as is. (Options to add fruit, whipped cream, etc. are offered.). We liked it on its own and it doesn't really need any syrup. * Corned Beef Hash $14 - I ordered this based on the positive comments from reviews and was a tad disappointed. It's canned corned beef and I guess it was my mistake to assume it wouldn't be. It was fine, but wasn't exceptional or anything. There are probably more specialty options to choose from and I should have done that instead. We were definitely curious about the Malasada Hotcakes too as it comes highly recommended. We'll have to save that for next time. Service was good - Kolby has a lot of great energy and it comes across very easily. The whole team is serving up Aloha spirit with a smile. Paid $8 for Portuguese Soup and what I got was a small styrofoam cup half filled with soup. Not even a cups worth! I can't believe I forgot to review this place. I came last month and the restaurant can get pretty packed on weekends since there are only a few tables, so expect a short wait outside. It's absolutely worth it! The owner is incredibly sweet, and the food is delicious. They truly understand the meaning of hospitality, and you can feel the warm aloha from the moment you arrive. We get something different every time we went and it wasn't planned. It was just what our cravings told us. We've had pancakes, corned beef hash, kalua quesadilla, breakfast burrito, eggs and bacon, Kanani burger, fries, chop steak...you get the picture. Every item just hits the spot. You really can't go wrong with anything you decide to get. They are all delicious. The one must have item that we both love and always get is: the gravy.
