The place and lighting looks great when it's dark and it gave us the perfect opportunity to relax and enjoy the spa after a long day of skiing! The food and drinks we had there, were all delicious and great! I love this spa and we enjoyed our interactions every part of it and if you haven't tried it yet, I highly recommend it. Good experience, but liked it a whole lot better when they also had their quiet policy. They've done some remodeling, and there'a still construction occurring, but wasn't too disruptive during our visit. What WAS disruptive is the large groups having social hour in every pool and sauna we went in. The bistro is nice for a mid-way snack/ bevvie. We had the chocolate cake and crème brûlée, as well as two alcoholic beverages. They were all enjoyable. Very peaceful atmosphere and it felt like we were in a snow globe when it started snowing. We were very happy overall with the service and quality of food. Wow, what a nice experience to treat yourself! We stayed at the Kananaskis Mountain Lodge and wanted to try the spa. Luckily if you have Marriott elite status, you get an additional discount for the evening spa session - the rate is only $59pp which is a great price for the experience. We followed the Hot, Cold, Rest cycle and at first I was a bit hesitant to get into the cold plunge but ended up loving the experience and it got easier each time. The eucalyptus steam room was the best and really invigorating as well. Unfortunately the pools are a bit lukewarm with only one of the hot pools open, it felt a little crowded in the pools and we spent most of the time in the saunas. During our session in Aug, it was quite crowded so definitely make a reservation online ahead of time. Would definitely recommend to anyone stopping by Kananaskis! read more

Amazing place to chill after hiking / exploring Banff. You get a choice of a few saunas, steam rooms, hot and warm pools, and a cold plunge pool. There are also many lounge chairs to just sit and relax, some of which are... heated. The whole place was very clean, well organized, and beautifully designed. This place has really set the bar: The facilities are very clean and the toiletries provided are very inclusive(hair ties, razors, hair spray, dryers, deodorant, gel, Dyson heat tools-however those are. Being phased out) I was a bit skeptical about the hot/cool rest cycle but it really does invigorate you! And the exfoliation was the perfect way to finish off. Personally, I would eat elsewhere before starting your day at the spa. The only restaurant on site has a limited menu and is kind of expensive. I've been a big fan of this spa since my first visit last year in August 2019. I'm not even one of those big time "spa people" other than I do love a good massage from time to time, especially after running a marathon or after a full day of snowboarding! Kananaskis Nordic Spa is something unique and special for sure. It literally is *an experience* and yes, YOU should experience it! First, this is part of the Kananaskis Mountain Lodge, which is a beautiful mountain resort own by Marriott and is part of their Autograph Collection. If you're not really sure what a "Nordic spa" is compared to a regular spa, well I was in the same boat on my first visit here! My hubby and I decided to check it out on our last day at the resort, and it ended up being one of the highlights of the trip! Aside from the usual massages, facials, and so on that a normal spa typically offers, Kananaskis Nordic Spa has all that and more. The big highlight is their Hydrotherapy Cycle. You basically do this "circuit" of going from a hot pool (or sauna or steam room) to a warm pool, then to a cold pool, rest and repeat. It's basically a centuries-old relaxation method of hydrotherapy. I read about the benefits, and they include improving circulation, boosting the immune system, soothing sore muscles or achy joints, skin toning, and eliminating skin toxins. It was pretty darn magical if you ask me! That cold pool is the toughest to get into! I really had to psyche myself up for it, then only lasted about 5 seconds in there! #polarplunge To top it all off, the pools/saunas/steam rooms are down in the most beautiful outdoor "spa garden" if you will, complete with these cozy thermal hammocks that felt like amazing human cocoons! All this in the picturesque surroundings of Kananaskis... We planned on returning in 2020, but of course Covid hit and canceled those plans, so we hope to return in 2021 or as soon as it's safe again. We could sure use that Hydrotherapy Cycle and the beauty of the Canadian Rockies after this crazy year we've all had! read more

This was our first time to the spa - we had a trip planned during Covid but of course, nothing was open. We had the best day. Went with my husband for our first getaway in years. I can't believe we spent the day away from our phones and doing nothing (in the best way!) but reading and switching pools. We did the HOT WARM COLD REST REPEAT thing but quickly gave up on the cold part... and then eventually the hot (because I'm a wimp). We spent a ton of time in the warm pools reading and in the saunas/steam rooms. The Eucalyptus steam was by far my favourite. We had lunch at the Two Trees Bistro which was delicious. We had mimosas and split a sandwich. I will 100% be back!! No pictures, because no phones ;) read more

What am great experience. This place is a well oiled machine the towel service the slippers the robes all great. The different pools from the hot the cold plunge pool are wonderful and there are a number of saunas to really relax in. The steam sauna is amazing and not to be missed with the eucalyptus one or the "alchemist" truly a healing experience. The price is extremely high however, I am not sure if the price is mean to be a deterrent but it is super speedy to enjoy your time there. read more

Wow! This was an experience I'll never forget. I have never even been to a regular spa, so this was a cool way to start! Even for a Saturday night, it wasn't too crazy busy but definitely still a decent amount of people there. We picked the perfect time of year to go because it was awesome to run around to the different hot tubs and saunas with snow and ice on the ground all around you. The bistro was pleasant to visit in the middle of our spa time for a drink as well. I came all the way from Las Vegas and was beyond pleasantly surprised by the overall experience and facilities. Splurged a little on a trip here with my friends or my 30th birthday. I deserved something! We went for the 7-9 spa and sleep (which is first come first serve not reservable!) and this did not disappoint! The experience is incredible, it was quiet, beautiful weather, the whole atmosphere is a VIBE. Dark with some mood lighting. I loved every aspect of it, it was shocking you couldn't bring in phones for photos but now that I've done it I don't regret it at all! You just need to go! They think of everything down to hair elastics for your hair if you forgot one. My only recommendations for the spa itself would be the house coats are fleece inside and if you're wet they are impossible to get on and let alone get dry. And that the website is not very user friendly! Just some small upgrades would make the already great experience even better! read more

Phenom. Would literally come here every month or more if I lived in Canada / nearby! This was the only stop I truly planned on my recent trip to Calgary and Banff, I read ahead and was prepared for the wait. On our way out of Banff and back to Calgary we stopped at the Kananaskis Nordic Spa which is inside the Marriott hotel. I checked in around 1pm and was added to the list. The sign out front said 5-7hr wait but I wasn't turned away. After lunch at one of the sports bars inside the hotel/inn on the property, we decided to go for a drive to kill some time. We made it off the list in exactly 3 hrs. The facility is nice and staff is constantly going around checking the various saunas / pools and cleaning up cups, towels etc. We did about 3-4 rounds of the hot to warm to cold to rest cycle. Since we went in late October, it wasn't very crowded which was nice. Definitely would have been a different experience had the saunas and pools been packed. I think it came out to $70 USD pp which is a steal! Do yourself a favor and go here to relax and look at the beautiful mountains. read more

I have been to this spa a couple times in the past few months. The first time I came for a bachelorette party and just recently came on a couples spa date with my husband and 2 other couples. Both times were a fantastic experience! I'm already planning our next spa date! Kananaskis Nordic spa is one of the only thermal spas besides the Fairmont in Banff, where I feel you can have a truly relaxing spa day. There is a hot, warm, and cold pool, an exfoliation cabin, as well as various saunas and steam rooms. As a guest of the hotel, you pay 50 dollars per person and as a non-guest, it is 70 dollars per person. With this, you get a very comfy robe, your own locker with a coded bracelet, slippers, 2 towels and your own container of exfoliating salts. You can also stay at the spa as long as you like and it's open 9 am to 9 pm daily. They recommend the order to get the most therapeutic value out of your experience: hot, warm, cold, exfoliation and r&r. It is also conveniently attached to the two tree bistro (which is upstairs). You can come in through here with your suit and your robe, relax on the couches by the fire or get a table and have some drinks and charcuterie (which is exactly what we did). It is quite a busy place. It is recommended going later in the day or even in the evening. We found it much more enjoyable later in the day when it wasn't crowded with people. This is such a relaxing and phenomenal experience that I am already planning my next trip. I feel it's well worth it for a unique spa experience! read more

I've been to the Blue Lagoon- so naturally, I was all 'meh I've done this' FALSE. This isn't just a hot tub where you can get a massage and have a snack, this a whole immersive full-day experience. The hydrotherapy cycle is great, especially for those of us who have trouble relaxing because you can move from thing to thing. The hot pool, warm pool and sauna are standard and lovely. The cold pool is bullshit- no to any fault of theirs, I'm just a huge baby who doesn't like being cold. The steam rooms are very cool, the eucalyptus was awesome for clearing out your airways. The massage I had was probably one of the best of my life, I cannot day enough positive things about Maxime. For me, the only drawbacks were the menu- I'm a fairly picky person when it comes to drinks and the wine list was lacking. I was also disappointed that everything was a shareable. Maybe I'm a greedy asshole, but I just don't like sharing- if I order four pieces of bread, I want to eat four pieces of bread. I went on a girls trip here with my mom and my grandma for Mother's Day. We stayed at Mount kid manor. It's in the Kananaskis village and one of the cheaper hotels. Before we went I called and told them I would be staying at mount kidd Manor. They said that people who stay at Mt. kid Manor and get a discounted rate to go to the spa. So instead of paying $70 a person we would only have to pay $50 a person. The spa was so beautiful it has lots of steam room sauna's and of course the hot pools cold pools and the warm pools. The cold pool is really hard to go into at first but the more that you go into it as you repeat the cycle it gets easier. Would definitely go back I also love that they require naps and Hamic's outside. read more

We visited the spa to celebrate our anniversary. It was a Saturday and the spa was busy, but not overcrowded. WE have visited Nordic spas across Canada, and though we had an enjoyable time, this spa had some noticeable shortfalls. Mostly I would say the issues are design issues: 1) Limited winter rest options, one is a bistro where you're expected to eat overpriced food after a 45 minute wait (we had the charcuterie - nothing special though our server was EXCELLENT). To get to the other rest area you have to walk through the check-in/gift shop area, and we didn't even discover it until the end of the day because of it's location 2) The steam room entry area is not vented, so you can't see the minute you walk in - the entry door was also iced over and couldn't be closed. 3) Outdoor rest areas were not maintained. Fires were lit, but chairs were snowed and iced over - they should be cleaned for guests daily. That said, who wants to rest outside in a damp robe and bare feet on a winter day in the Rockies? (see comment in point 1) 4) Shortage of hooks for robes - I am positive I was not wearing my own robe by the end of the day, and often had to put my robe over/under others. Walkways were not heated - therefore requiring large amounts of salt to be spread - and walkways were still slippery - heated concrete would have been a great idea We did enjoy the hot tubs, steam room and sauna - more cold plunge options would be nice (outdoor cold shower would be an easy addition). Finally, I think it's only fair to mention the price, which I think led to some of our expectations that this would be an amazing experience. $150 is almost double some of what I would consider "gold standard" spas across the country. I agree with some other posters that many guests were almost rambunctious and disrespectful of the facility - some staff willing to limit behaviours would have been welcomed. This spa came highly recommended to me from a coworker from Calgary. We booked our service (deep tissue massage) several days before our planned visit. I would try to book any services several weeks in advance because we got the last two appointments for that day and we felt pretty lucky. The spa itself is beautiful and clean, the staff is wonderful, very nice and helpful and the locker rooms have everything you need. They give you a cozy robe and sandals. Don't forget your bathing suit! They give clear instructions on how to use the varying pools. I suggest watching the video on their website to get acquainted with their process. This is an absolute "must do" when visiting the area. This place came highly recommended by a friend and we were blown away with the day at the spa. We did a full day of hydrotherapy and explored all of the saunas, steam rooms, and pools. The relaxation areas will truly make you the most relaxed. They have cocoons, hammocks, and chairs by the fire. It's not just about the hydrotherapy here. It is about the full experience. You are provided with one of the most comfy and cozy robes and a pair of sandals to wear in between areas. We did the pools about 5 times before taking a break and heading to the bistro. While the food was not incredible, it sure did suffice as a little lunch. We then continued on to a few more rounds at the pools. The last part is an exfoliation room and I enjoyed that the most. Their locker room is fully equipped to get ready after your day here. I would highly recommend visiting this spa if in the area. It's quite the experience! read more

I think we went in about 5 differ times over a fri afternoon in late Jan. Tried the ice cold (actually 41 F ) plunge pool but couldn't stay longer than 3 sec. enjoyed a light spa meal and hung out in the resting room w mag to rally again. Fri is open till 11pm and glad we did Fri as I understand it gets Uber busy Sat. We booked a room on Marriott Bonvoy and didn't realize there was a spa package as they don't advertise the Nordic Spa beyond massage and typical spa offering--but its pretty unique as it really is a special place. Loved the view of the mountains while sitting in the hot pools during daylight, then the lights and some stars at night. And lastly, exfoliate w the small salt scrub they offer you for the exfoliating steam room. Makes you feel like jello by the time we got back to the room. read more

A solid 3.5. I stayed here over the Remembrance Day long weekend with my partner and my dog and it's definitely a very popular destination. Staff are very friendly and it's a very dog friendly spot! But not a lot to do other than to relax and soak in the spa (if you can get in!) unless you ski/snowboard. I think it's definitely a flaw in the system that the spa use isn't included in your stay, when rooms are already quite expensive, and also as a hotel guest, you don't even get priority for spa use. We had to get up and physically appear to put our name in. The line starts at 8AM so forget sleeping in because you have to exit the building (brr!) to get to the spa reception. We were there three nights and only used the spa once and it was a wonderful experience but at $80/person/entry (so $240 if we went each day!) plus tax, it was good enough. The room wasn't anything particularly luxurious or special and can get quite loud in the hallway. It doesn't justify the price we paid. Restaurant food is tasty enough, expect the usual inflated prices. Fantastic servers however! We definitely recommend the nachos from the hotel lounge. We spent close to $2,000 on room, food, and spa and it was a tad high for a very 'meh' experience. read more

We had a really great day at the spa on our concert weekend back in November. We went to Fleetwood Mac in Calgary so decided to make it a 4 day long weekend and spend a couple nights in Kananaskis, Banff and at the Spa and so glad we did ! Been meaning to write about this for a while as it's a great place to relax, loosen up and have some fun socializing as well. The Nordic spa experience is a very good therapy especially if you do a few full cycles (yes that means cold plung also and for a few minutes not just in and out) I have joint problems and hydrotherapy has kept me loose and helped me manage my pain for decades now. I use my own pool and hot tub or the local pool/rec Center on a regular basis but it's always a treat to spend a day at a nice spa like this. You can do the same therapy at your local pool for $6 so when visiting these spas for $75-$225 per person for a single visit you better be able to get your moneys worth and this place delivered for my wife and I. We booked through the Pomeroy Autograph Collection to make sure we got in & also we could go between the hotel and spa throughout the day & evening without having to change out of our robe into our cloths when leaving the spa. If you don't book a massage we'll in advance there could be a several hr wait list but if you book through the the hotel it's a few bucks more but you have guarantied access with no wait, we went straight in and the sign they put out said expect up to 7 hr wait. There's a few of each, saunas, tubs and steam rooms & plenty of resting areas. It's not that lg of a facility but it is layed out well and the tubs and saunas are good and hot. Others like Whistler and Portland aren't as hot more Luke warm so there's not as much contrast for you to get a real serious sweat going. I like that you can retreat to areas to rest or socialize with others in the tubs and have some nice Shareable food and drinks at the spa restaurant (which I thought was pretty good) and we also went to the hotel lounge bar later on for a break with drinks and snacks and then carried on back in the tubs & saunas again! It's enjoyable to spend many hrs here, we spent over 10 hrs of our day coming and going in and out of the spa and hotel. Would definitely say you can get your moneys worth at this spa, I can't comment about massages as we only booked the spa facility. We are looking forward to finding another reason to head to Alberta to hit up this relaxing fun place again. read more

Our experience in the pools and the saunas was wonderful, albeit expensive. I would recommend it to anyone. They could use more showers, as there were only three and you had to stand and wait for one which kind of ruined the high-end experience. We followed up with massages. My massage was fine, not the best one I've ever had, but there were some nice touches, like the hot towels. Unfortunately my daughter had the WORST massage she ever had. He worked on her back for the entire hour and never touched another part of her body. The next time we go we will skip massages and go for another treatment. read more

My wife and I wanted to like this place, and it was supposed to be the highlight of our weekend getaway. Arrived at 9am on a Saturday, and stood in line for 20 mins to be checked in. Paid, descended down the stairs into the locker room and got changed into our suits. At the time, only half the spa was open, but what they have so far gives you enough to experience the Nordic Spa thing. The spot is great, the layout is great but my goodness the atmosphere is awful. This isn't our first foray into Scandinavian Spas as we have gone twice to the one in Whistler and absolutely loved it. The difference is that the one in Whistler advertises itself as a place of tranquility and relaxation, and actually means it. No talking please signs are everywhere, people are relaxing on chairs with their eyes closed and are respectful of others. Kananaskis Spa? They advertise themselves about being a place to relax but it is far from it. While we were there there was a stagette party, a group of mid twenty men and women that had too much to drink acting like the warm pools were hot tubs in an all inclusive in Mexico. Handstands in the pools, make out sessions in the hot tubs, running on the pool decks, screaming and yelling in the saunas, it was freaking awful. So, we brought up our concerns with management, they said they don't want to be too restrictive on people having fun and suggested maybe we don't go on weekends when the ski bunnies from Calgary are no there. I had booked a 90 minute aromatherapy massage for 30-Sep-2019 during the 1st week of August ensuring I would have access to the pools as without a massage it is on a first come first serve basis. When I booked they made NO mention that they were in the process of expansion I only found out when I visited their website the other day. Hidden in the site you find " We are doing a major upgrade to our landscape throughout the month of September. Please note there might be some noise disturbance Monday to Friday, from 8 am to 5 pm." I think that if I am paying over $250 this should have been made VERY clear to me at the time of booking. When I inquired if the work would be completed by the time I arrived I was told they did not know when they would be finished, meaning that this work is extending into October. I promptly cancelled as I have no desire to spend a day in a construction zone. We've been to the spa a few times and for me that cold little pool is worth the drive from Edmonton. Yep. I'm slightly crazy. The good! The views and set up are great. Multiple saunas, steams, and two hot tubs make the hot portion of the cycle great. Two larger medium/warm pools give you enough room. And the cool pool people seem quick to leave so it's plenty big enough! Lol. They have a couple fire pits in the spa that are so relaxing. Tucked around are hammocks to rest in as well. I do wish they were heated though, especially in the winter. The amount of people they let in seems to be great for the exterior part of the spa itself. The staff at the spa are great! They were all really nice and helpful if we had any issues. It really was a great relaxing time. And I can't wait to go back! BUT with the good is the not so great. They can't guarantee that you'll get into said spa. It's all first come first serve. We drove from Edmonton for one night needing to be home the next day to come for the spa. We left home at 5am to try to get there before they were full. At almost 10am they had to make sure that there was enough room for us. If there hadn't of been we would have been wait listed. When that's all you're coming for that would have sucked. Once there they did tell us that if we had of booked a massage we would have had not been waitlisted. So that's good to know for the future. Once in the spa we decided to eat at the bistro/café they have. Our server although very nice wasn't able to answer some pretty basic questions about the menu. Example: "Are you serving alcohol yet?", "Is the whole menu available or just the breakfast portion?" She had to go ask to answer both questions. She definitely seemed new so we gave her a bit of a break. We ordered drinks and food, and it all came out great! Once all our drinks and food were gone we asked for the bill. Between asking for the bill and getting the bill was almost a half hour. She asked if it was separate and we said yes because most of us had put our credit cards on file at the front of the spa. During that time there was another table that got their food, ate and got their bill before we got our bill. She tried to split it up after asking what all of us had had and writing it down to come back with not a single bill correct. She seemed overwhelmed for the table she had. After avoiding our table we just said we could put it on one bill and divide it up ourselves and apologized for the confusion. We asked for a copy of the bill so we could remember the breakdown and that itself took another almost 10 minutes. This is where we enjoyed the crap out of the beautiful day in the great rotation of hot, warm, cold, rest, repeat. Once getting ready to leave the spa on the very busy day we noticed the lack of showers. There was a huge line waiting. Thankfully we were staying at the hotel, although not checked in yet because early check in wasn't available. We thought maybe we could just check in and shower there. The robes can't be taken from the attached spa to the hotel and they don't have another option like a hotel robe to provide. So we all ended up getting back into our dirty pre spa clothes not wanting to wait the over half hour wait for the shower. This ended up being okay because we came back to the spa later that night for a round two. On a bright note they allow readmission if there isn't a waitlist! That evening the showers weren't as busy, but there was still a wait and getting into clean clothes and ready for our relaxed evening was great. Spent the day here at the hydrotherapy pools. Amazing pools and very relaxing experience. Only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the Two Trees Bistro. It's cozy inside but the food is overpriced and not exactly the best. The "cheesecake" tasted great but was 3 squares about 1 inch big..for 14$. I have been sooo excited to use my birthday gift credit certificate, and finally booked two (quite hearty priced) nights at the lodge. Went online to book a massage for my visit, which you can only do by emailing or leaving a phone message for a call back, which I did both!! Finally received a call and email back 5 days later, saying that there was no availability on my date. Only writing this review as the website is misleading, in that they state to book massage at least three weeks in advance.... learned today, that they are actually booking 3 MONTHS out. I have tried the spa for myself today and had a wonderful time. I recommend starting with the Steam Cabin followed by the Gathering Pool then into the Cold Plunge (cold plunge bucket available in steam cabin to ease you into it) and then rest in a hammock. For the 2nd cycle I suggest starting with Banya sauna then the nearby Hot Pool's lower bowl (more whirlpool action) then the Cold Plunge and then try out a hanging tent for a nap. If you can make it to the 3rd cycle I would start with the Infrared Sauna then the Gathering Pool again and the Cold Plunge followed by a rest under an umbrella in an Adirondack chair with a foot rest (or hammock if availale, heated in winter). Finally, finish off with an exfoliation scrub in the Exfoliation Cabin followed by a cleansing shower and shave in the washroom. I purchased a gift card (pre-Covid) for 2 full day entrances to the spa, and tried multiple times to use them to go for the day (again, pre Covid) however was never able to get in as they were always at capacity when we arrived (we live out of town) and you could NOT prebook entry under any circumstances. Now that they are re-open , I tried to call to book myself and my boyfriend for a couples massage, which is no longer available due to Covid measures (which I fully understand as they are trying to practise safety measures). My issue is that I am now expected to use the gift card for 2 full day entrances and we only get half a day at the Nordic spa. The issue in the past was that we could not book in advance to be able to use the prepaid entrances, and now we HAVE to book in advance, but can't use the gift card to its full value from when it was purchased, which was to be used for a full day. On top of this, no matter which option you select on their phone menu, NOBODY answers any of them. I understand that policies are changing, but to devalue what people have already paid for and no longer have anyone answering any phone lines to answer questions is awful business practise. There is no availability posted online, so you can't even try to plan for when you MAY be able to get booked in. I regret purchasing a gift card from this business as they clearly don't value customer satisfaction or practise basic customer service such as answer phones to answer customer questions, especially with how many policies they have changed. read more

This spa has good facilities and layout. We really enjoyed the saunas, the views from the pools were gorgeous, and the temperature in the cold pool was perfect, exactly what you need to refresh and stabilize your body. However, a number of drawbacks make it likely that we will not return here again: Showers - There were only 3! For the entire women's change room! In peak hours, which is when we were there, there was a line-up of 5-7 people. We ended up not showering at all and just leaving. Change stalls - or lack thereof. During peak hours, changing becomes extremely uncomfortable, as spaces between lockers is limited, and there are no changing stalls. More shy members of our group had to change in the toilets, which were also often full and had a line up. Noise - I found the level of noise - loud and sometimes quite obviously drunk - the opposite of the relaxing atmosphere I wanted in a Nordic Spa experience. I have been to other Nordic style spas that have a silence policy that makes the whole visit totally serene and calm. At the Kananaskis Nordic Spa I felt like everyone was in a hurry, stressed, and I couldn't find a quiet place just to rest. The last thing I wanted to hear while sweating away my worries in a steam room was inebriated people giggling and yelling at each other. Robes - Were amazing, warm, and cozy. BUT were hard to distinguish from other robes, and while we memorized where we hung up our robes, other people clearly didn't, because had to TWICE get new ones because ours were taken by other people. Each robe has a number, but it's hard to see, and I assume other people just don't care. There must be a better way to make sure that guests can identify their own robes and avoid taking others'. Floor cleanliness - The staff were very good at keeping the floors clean (ish), so long as there was someone there ALL THE TIME to mop up water and dirt. I suggest having some kind of coat area, where people can leave coats and dirty boots before entering the change rooms. This is something I've seen at other such spas and it works really well. I think most of these drawbacks can be easily fixed by limiting the number of people in the spa. It seems that the amenities, at least in the women's change room, are ill equipped to deal with the volume of people the Spa is trying to accommodate. Fewer people would mean a quieter, calmer environment for guests to relax, to shower in peace, and use the facilities without feeling overcrowded, hurried, or stressed. Again, the location and views are absolutely amazing here. The snow-covered mountains and swaying pines would be more than enough to bring us back if it weren't for the above points which ruined the visit for us. read more

Arrived and checked in quickly. Hit the pools right away. They were pretty gross. A lot of gunk floating in all of them. Went for a massage which was nice. The booking was made over a month in advance with pricing set at $150. When it came time to pay they informed us that as of today, weekend pricing has gone up by $50. Pretty cheap move on their part. No social distancing, the main pool is under construction (no discount and it looks terrible), we went midweek and people were sitting side-by-side in the small sauna's (some people were coughing), paid $34 with tip at the Bistro to share a sandwich with my partner and a coffee (super overpriced) ... The worst part is that I was very clear when I booked it that I needed to have a receipt for my massage so I could claim it on my benefits. At the time of payment they refused to give me a detailed receipt and said that they would email it. I double checked they had the correct email address and I never received it. They don't answer their phones... I waited on hold for an hour one time and a half an hour another time... Before giving up. I left a message and when they finally returned it I was at work so it went to voicemail and they didn't address my request at all, treated it like a booking inquiry and telling me to call them back. I have emailed asking for the receipt and left messages and never received it. For a day that cost us almost $600 - it was not relaxing and I feel really ripped off. read more

The newest place to PARTY! This is one of my favorite places in Alberta to enjoy the outdoors while in a spa-like environment, but was surprised to see it slowly evolve from a being the quiet spa experience, to a full-on hot tub party (especially on weekends). While booze isn't technically allowed in, you can be sure most of those water bottles people bring in are filled to the brim with ample amounts wine and/or whiskey. It heavily leans more towards stagette parties, birthday bashes, girls' day out before hitting the nightlife, guys lining up to do shots from their recyclable cups of "cucumber water", filled with whatever is in their water bottles and flasks, etc. The only things missing are a live music DJ, an oversized beach ball to bounce around, and a diving board for doing backflips into one of the exfoliating pools. We asked management about it, but they basically said they have no plans to interrupt how guests ends up having fun. The massages and staff are world-class, so there are some spa-like elements present. I give it 2 stars for the "Kananaskis Nordic Spa Experience", but a solid 5 stars for being the new "Kananaskis Nordic Spa Hot Tub Party"! read more
