Bubba Gump Review - Laguna Location
Bubba Gump is a chain…read morerestaurant, and this location doesn't stray far from the formula. The main difference is its prime location--there's plenty of parking, and the restaurant backs right into the Laguna, which gives it a nice scenic backdrop. It had the potential for a relaxed dining experience, but unfortunately, that's where the positives ended.
When I arrived, I was the only customer there, and oddly enough, they still weren't ready to open on time. You'd expect faster service with no crowd, but that wasn't the case. I ordered shrimp, which you'd think would be their specialty. Instead, they came out overcooked and rubbery. At that point, I was starving, so I powered through it, but it wasn't enjoyable.
The outdoor seating looks inviting at first--right on the water, with a breeze and a view--but don't expect to sip a beer slowly. The sun hits hard, and your drink will warm up quickly. Unless you're drinking fast or don't mind a warm beer, it's not the most comfortable spot to sit and relax.
Overall, the location has promise, but the execution misses the mark. With better food and service, it could be a go-to spot. As it stands, I wouldn't recommend it--especially if you're coming for the shrimp or hoping to enjoy a slow drink in the sun.
