I recently had the pleasure of dining at Restaurace U Marčanů in Veleslavín with my tour group, and…read moreit was an unforgettable experience! Not only do you get to experience traditional Czech food. You also get to do so while watching a Czech folklore dance show; furthermore, the service was impeccable, and the traditional Czech cuisine they serve is a true celebration of local flavors.
We began with Zelníky, a delicious cabbage and ham stuffing. The blend of savory ham and tangy cabbage was a pretty tasty way to start the meal.
For the main course, we had Špízy, a grilled chicken shish kabob, which was perfectly grilled and served with zelené fazole, (green beans), francouzské brambory (potatoes au gratin), and fresh chléb bread balls. The layered potato dish was especially delightful, creamy and well-seasoned. Probably my favorite part of the meal.
For dessert we indulged in a heavenly palačinka se zmrzlinou, a light and delicate crêpe filled with rich chocolate and topped with smooth ice cream. It was the perfect sweet note to end the meal.
And if that wasn't enough, the endless wine (red or white) was the cherry on top! Throughout the evening, our glasses were continuously refilled, and I may or may have left dinner slightly tipsy. Lol
The food at Restaurace U Marčanů is truly authentic, and you can tell that a lot of love and care goes into every dish. Our entire group left satisfied, with full bellies and big smiles. If you're looking to experience the best of Czech cuisine, culture, and hospitality in a cozy, traditional setting, this is the place to go! Highly recommend to anyone visiting Veleslavín or the greater Prague area.
